Advantages: A really great product

Disadvantages: A bit pricey

I absolutely love The Body Shop's body butters. Skin experts recommend that we moisturise our skin every two hours. Show me someone who has the time to do that and I'll show you someone with too much time on their hands! Body butters are great because they offer 24 hour moisturisation, so if you slap them on in the morning, they are still working when you go to bed that night.

Body butters are suitable for any skin type from normal to extra dry, but are especially good for dry skin or for just after you've shaved your legs.

Body butters contain shea butter and soybean oil as their active ingredients. Both of these moisturise, soften and protect your skin.

To apply, scoop out of the tub, rub between your hands to soften (body butters melt at body temperature, so you'll get a more even application if you do this) and smear all over!

As I mentioned, body butters offer 24 hour moisturisation, but in buying them your are helping others as well. The Body Shop operates a Community Trade scheme (the same as Fairtrade), which means that ingredients such as cocoa butter, shea butter and soya are bought from farmers who receive a fair wage for their produce. Body butters are also made in the UK, so they accrue fewer carbon emmissions and provide local jobs.

Body butters are available in a range of flavours - some are available all the time and some are seasonal. The stock flavours include cocoa butter, shea, hemp, vitamin E, mango, almond, coconut, brazil nut, satsuma, strawerry and pink grapefruit.

Body butters are available in 200ml and 50ml tubs. A 200ml tub is £12 and a 50ml tub is £5. For me, this is the only down side. I think this a bit steep, but I balance the expense against the fact that this is a great product and it does a lot of good and if I'm feeling a bit flush then I treat myself!

Summary: Worth it if you fancy a splurge.

great review... probably not a product I'd use, but I'll be sure to recommend it to my other half.
