Advantages: Moisturises really well, smells nice, feels luxurious to use.
Disadvantages: None for me.
Even though this is one of the most popular products The Body Shop has to offer, and is a bestseller, I've actually never used this, which is a little surprising given that I am a huge Body Shop fan. I tend to stick to the fruity or floral ranges, however, my mother loves this and is always going on and on about it so I thought I'd try it out.
Packaging
This body butter comes in a standard Body Shop tub which has a screw on lid. I prefer moisturisers in tubs as opposed to bottles as with a tub it is possible to get every last bit out. The pot is beige and there is a lovely picture of cocoa beans on the lid. The lid is easy to screw on and off even if my hands are a little damp after a shower.
The Body Butter
According to the Body Shop website, the key ingredients of this body butter are Community Fair Trade cocoa butter and Community Fair Trade shea butter, which is good as it is meant for very dry skin. The body butter is beige in colour and looks quite rich and creamy. The scent is lovely-it smells of cocoa butter with a nutty hint to it, and while the scent is strong, it is not sickly. The scent probably isn't for everyone though, so I would recommend you smell it in store before purchasing. To apply, you just dab your fingertips into the tub to get body butter on them and then rub over your skin. I applied it after my nightly shower and thought it would leave my skin feeling greasy as it is quite thick so I applied it in small amounts and it was absorbed eventually and sunk into my skin leaving it feeling silky soft. You should only apply a little at a time, and spend some time massaging it into your skin, or you may be left with greasy skin. The next morning my skin still felt soft and hydrated, and the scent of cocoa butter did linger on my skin, although it was quite subtle. The body butter promises 24-hour hydration and I feel it definitely delivers on its promise as my skin felt moisturised when I hopped into the shower the next night. My legs tend to be quite dry, but have felt soft and smooth ever since I have started using this product.
Price and Availability
As with all Body Shop products, this can only be bought at The Body Shop stores, or online at www.thebodyshop.co.uk. The 50 ml tub retails for £5 and the 200 ml tub retails for £12.50. You can often find this product on offer, and that is when I tend to stock up.
Final Word
I definitely recommend this body butter, and I wish it hadn't taken me so long to discover something that was right under my nose the whole time! It has a very luxurious feel to it, and makes my skin feel pampered. A little goes a long way, and though it may seem expensive to some, you can often buy it on offer, and it really does last a long time. The scent is lovely, and the rich and creamy body butter leaves my skin feeling silky soft.
