Advantages: Gorgeous/Strong/Long lasting scent, Moisturising & nourishing, Ethical
Disadvantages: None for me
I recently received a Body Shop Coconut gift set, which contains a number of gorgeous coconut scented products including body butter.
The Body Shop Coconut Body Butter comes in a brown tub with a screw tid. There is a sticker of a coconut on the top. It's quite simple looking but also quite attractive. The Body Shop sell a 200ml tub but mine is a smaller 50ml tub (I will be buying the bigger tub when I'm finished!).
The tub doesn't specify what skin type the body butter is suitable for but the website states that it's suitable for normal to dry skin. I would describe my skin as normal (possibly slightly dry on hard wearing areas such as knees, feet and elbows).
My favourite aspect of this particular body butter is the scent. I love tropical scents, in particular coconut. I can wear it all year round and feel like I'm off on holidays every time I get a whiff! The scent of the body butter is apparent as soon as you open the tub, it's very strong smelling. The scent transfers really well to the skin and lasts all day long. I can apply the body butter in the morning and still smell it when I'm getting ready for bed at night. It's a really lovely and pleasing scent.
The Body Butter is a cream/ivory colour and has a thick consistency. I initially thought it may be a little too thick and a little too greasy to absorb properly, however I was wrong. When applied to the skin the body butter melts and absorbs well (and doesn't feel/look greasy at all). My skin feels instantly nourished. It works well on my 'normal' skin type and I can imagine it would prove very useful for those with dry skin (it may be a little too oily for those who already have oily skin). I only need to use a small amount at a time (just a small scoop with my fingers) as a little tends to go a long way. I have been using this body butter every day for a couple of weeks and my skin has felt soft, smooth and fully moisturised the whole time. The body butter is said to provide 24 hour hydration, which I think it correct as my skin feels thoroughly hydrated from morning until night. I am pleased with the effects of this body butter and have no complaints whatsoever.
The Body Shop Coconut Body Butter contains Community Fair Trade virgin organic coconut oil (with coconuts grown in Samoa), which means it contains good ethics as well as natural ingredients! The Body Shop are also against animal testing and don't test any of their products on animals, which is good to know.
You can buy The Body Shop Coconut Body Butter from The Body Shop (or The Body Shop website) for £13.00 per 200ml tub. This may seem a little on the expensive side but it's great quality, is ethical, works very well, smells devine and lasts a long time (I still have lots left in my small tub). I fully recommend.
Summary: One of my favourite Body Shop body butters.
