I found my bottle of Body Shop Coconut Milk Body Lotion around my house a couple of weeks ago. For me this is not a surprise as I am always buying new creams and leaving them lying around and starting to use a different one. I cannot remember buying this particular one but, I do know that the bottle I have is fairly old as it is a flip top. The most modern packaging of this product now has a spray.
250ml currently sells for £8 from the Body Shop. For me this is quite expensive and more than I normally pay. The Body Shop have pretty good sales on at least twice a year though and I love popping in and getting as bargain.
The ingredients list reads: Aqua (Solvent/Diluent), Ethylhexyl Palmitate (Skin Conditioning Agent), Glycerin (Humectant), Cyclomethicone (Emollient), Butylene Glycol (Humectant), Cocos Nucifera Oil (Emollient/Hair Conditioner), Orbignya Oleifera Seed Oil (Emollient), Glyceryl Stearate (Emulsifier), Caprylyl Glycol (Skin Conditioning Agent), PEG-100 Stearate (Surfactant), Dimethicone (Skin Conditioning Agent), PEG-40 Stearate (Emulsifier), Parfum (Fragrance), Cetearyl Alcohol (Emulsifier), Acrylates/C10-30 Alkyl Acrylate Crosspolymer (Stabiliser/Viscosity Modifier), Xanthan Gum (Viscosity Modifier), Disodium EDTA (Chelating Agent), Sodium Carbomer (Emulsion Stabiliser), Benzyl Benzoate (Solvent), Coumarin (Fragrance Ingredient), Sodium Hydroxide (pH Adjuster), Butylphenyl Methylpropional (Fragrance Ingredient).
Opening my bottle of coconut body butter the delicious super sweet smell pours out. I absolutely love the smell. I really like sweet smells and I am sure this isn't for everyone. As a result you should definitely pop into the body shop and smell before you buy as the smell lingers pretty much all day after application.
Using this body lotion as soon as I pour it out it is surprisingly thin. I guess this is the reason why The Body Shop changed it into a spray product. Despite the thinness of this body lotion I do find it pretty moisturising. It is not as rich as a body butter but it certainly does make my skin feel hydrated.
I generally have quite dry skin. Lately I have been using a body butter in the morning and this body lotion in the evenings. My skin feels lovely after using this lotion and it really does help stop my skin from drying out. I really like how easy it is to apply and it absorbs really quickly.
I am certainly a fans of this body lotion and yes I recommend it. It is light and thin making it easy to apply. This lotion is not enough on its own to stop my skin from drying out but it is not designed as a thick strong moisturiser.

I am reviewing Coconut Milk Body Lotion which is by The Body Shop. This product is a lightweight lotion and smells like fresh coconuts. It hydrates normal to dry skin, leaving it feeling soft and smooth. I have tried lots of body lotions and body butters from The Body Shop but I was yet to try this product, which I purchased just before Christmas when I had a discount code to use online. I tend to stock up on body Shop products when I get sent discount codes as it saves quite a bit of money which is always good. I have plenty of products that I need to use up before I even think about buying anymore, which probably won't be until the middle of the year. Although my boyfriend doesn't like coconut, I quite like the scent and this product has good reviews about it which is also what prompted me to purchase it. This lotion claims to be light and easily absorbed and it has a lovely fresh coconut scent to it. The lotion comes in a clear bottle and it clearly states on the front what the product is and who it's made by. There is also a small picture of a coconut on the front as well. On the back of the bottle is a label which tells you a little about the product and peels open to reveal a list of ingredients. As the bottle is clear you can see the lotion inside the bottle which is white in colour. Although this product is a lotion the bottle has a spray pump dispenser to it, which made me think that the product is more of a body milk rather than a thicker lotion like the other lotions from The Body Shop. The spray dispenser has a plastic cap which covers it to protect it when not in use.

I purchased this from The Body Shop website when I had a discount code. The lotion is priced at £8.00 which is for a 250ml bottle of the lotion. You can also purchase this from The Body Shop high street stores as well.

I always apply a moisturiser to my body after having a bath/shower to keep my skin looking and feeling great. I do actually try to apply a moisturiser twice a day; how-ever I don't always get round to doing this. After getting out of the bath I patted my skin dry and then got ready to apply the product. The dispenser on this bottle was different to the other body lotions I have used before which are either pump dispensers or have a hole in the top of the bottle to enable you to get the product out. I removed the clear cap and then got ready to spray the product into my hand. I was able to grip the bottle well and press down on the pump a few times to dispense the lotion. I personally wouldn't call this a lotion as it's quite thin and is not at all thick like you would expect from a lotion. The lotion is white in colour, which I already knew from the clear bottle. As the lotion is thin, it doesn't take long to rub into your skin. As I rubbed the lotion into my skin it felt smooth and also slightly cooling which was nice.
I could smell the coconut scent from the lotion which was nice and light. I continued to spray the lotion into my hand and apply all over my body. I did find that the bottle can be a little slippery to hold after applying some of the lotion so you may want to keep a towel handy so you can wipe your hands each time you need to press down on the pump spray to dispense some more. With this product I found that it absorbed into my skin quite quickly, probably because it was so thin in comparison to some of the other body lotions which have a slightly thicker consistency to them. My skin looked bright and radiant and it also looked moisturised and healthy. This made me feel great because my skin looked great. When touching my skin it felt smooth and soft; although I don't think it felt as soft as it does when using the Shea Body Lotion from The Body Shop. After applying the product all over my body it does give your skin a nice, light coconut scent which smells quite refreshing. After going to sleep and waking up the smell wasn't as obvious, although it could still be smelt a little.

I have only used one other product in the Coconut range which was the Lip Butter, and after liking this so much I decided to try the coconut body lotion. I had tried so many of the other body lotions from The Body Shop, so I thought I would give this one a go as well to see if it was as good as some of the others. I was a little surprised that the product has a totally different dispenser in comparison to some of the others which made me think that this product was more like a body milk that an actual lotion. Although the packaging to the product is simple I like it as you can see when you are running out of the product so you know when to buy some more. Despite the product being much runnier and thinner than what I would call and actual lotion it was easy to apply.
The lotion felt smooth on my skin and cooled my skin which was nice. This would especially be nice during the summer. The lotion does have a gorgeous light coconut scent which smells nice, and the scent does stay on your skin for a while before disappearing completely. The lotion definitely moisturised my skin and made it much smoother and softer than it would normally feel when getting out of the bath but I don't feel as though it was as moisturising as a thicker lotion such as the Shea Body Lotion from. In terms of value the lotion is a little pricey which is why I always tend to purchase products when on offer or when I have a discount code to use online. As my boyfriend doesn't like coconut, I only use this product when I am at home so that he doesn't smell it on my skin. This is a nice lotion that feels extremely light on the skin but it's not a favourite of mine and I don't think I would purchase it again.

I am a bit of a beauty product addict and as such I often receive plenty of new beauty treats come birthday and xmas time. I was given a Coconut themed gift set from the Body Shop, which included this Coconut Milk Body Lotion, Coconut Bath and Shower Cream and a scrunchy bath puff. It'd all been stashed away at the back of my cupboard for ages, but I have recently gotten around to digging it out and using it. Each product can be bought individually, but I thought that the gift set was a nice touch as I do enjoy using products that have a matching fragrance.
Product description: "This lightweight body lotion smells like fresh coconuts. It hydrates normal to dry skin, leaving it soft and smooth.
+ Light and easily absorbed
+ Leaves skin feeling soft and smooth
+ Fresh coconut scent"
I have a travel size version of this body lotion, which contains 60ml. The full size version contains 250ml and costs RRP £8.00. It comes in a clear plastic bottle which allows the product to show through, which I prefer because it allows you to see exactly how much you have left. The bottle has a plastic flip-top lid at the top of the bottle with a small hole underneath which the product is dispensed through.
Recommended directions for use: Massage into skin and allow to sink in before dressing.
The lotion itself has a pure white colour which is exactly what I would expect from a coconut themed product. It is very runny and pours rapidly out of the bottle which can make quite a mess and I have to be careful not to squeeze out too much or else it goes everywhere. I have noticed that the larger bottle comes with a pump dispenser which might make it easier to control. The light consistency of the lotion allows it to spread well over my skin and it is absorbed quickly. Even though it doesn't seem rich it does soften my skin and leaves it feeling moisturised. For best results it should be used daily, and I like to use it after washing with the matching shower gel. The scent from the shower gel is nice but does not have much staying power, and by using the lotion it gives a longer lasting fragrance. The scent of the lotion is very natural and has a true coconut fragrance, but I think it is a touch sweeter than the shower gel, although it does match in nicely and layering the products gives a stronger fragrance overall.
Overall I think this is a nice light lotion that is gentle on skin, leaving it soft and smelling sweet. I would recommend it in combination with other products from The Body Shop's coconut range.
The Body Shop are against animal testing - please keep your beauty cruelty free!
I paid £8.00 for this in the body shop. I am aware that there are cheaper alternatives out there but I'm a sucker for the body shop and just think for a product like this with longevity its worth the extra cost. This is the second time I've bought this product and this time I bought it on a 3 for 2 so got the apricot body mist and another product I can't recall as this was around 3 months ago.
The new packaging for this product is slightly different from above. When I first went into the store this worried me as whilst the product looks similar to above photo it was different. Luckily the shop assistant was more than willing to help and sent me in the right direction. I like the no fuss packaging of the product in line with the body shops ethics of no waste. It feels like a 250ml product and is full to the brim.
Application is generally easy - although when I use this in the winter months it can be very cold! In the summer the opposite - very soothing! Because it is a spray mist you can use very economically which is why I think this product lasts so long! In the same vein if the pump did break you would have to unscrew and tip the bottle which isnt a complete disaster but defies the point of the spray. I've never had to do this though (last bottle lasted 4 years on and off)!! Although it sprays on very lightly the consistency is actually milky and thick.
The after effect is silky smooth skin that feels hydrated. The smell is beautiful also and sticks to you all day. Whenever I use this (which isnt daily as I don't feel the need to) people comment on the smell.
The Body Shop Coconut Milk Body Lotion
I was recently bought a body shop gift set that contained a mixture of products, and one of the goodies that it had in it was the coconut milk body lotion... Currently the Bodyshop online are advertising the 60 ml at £3, and the 250 ml £8.
This product is as expected white in colour, and is in my opinion a little runny. The consistency is thin, a bit like pancake batter... Even though the lotion is a little thin, it does smooth on well, and soaks in quickly (which avoids the greasy hand feeling). It has worked well keep my hands soft, and supple while I have been doing loads of work in my garden...
For me this is where the good qualities of the product end. I am normally a fan of all things coconutty, however with this product there a strange after smell... It reminds me of the smell of the banana antibiotic that I used to take as a child.... It's not too offensive, but now I have noticed it I haven't been able to use it since...
Personally I don't feel that the product is over priced, and it has been produced by the body shop who work to ensure that things have been produced ethically. However this scent is just not for me...
In conclusion, although the product works well, I personally can't recommend it as, well the smell is just a bit funky (and not in a good way)...
Only 2 stars from me, - one for the efficacy, and another for the speed that is soaks in at...
I ended up with a couple of coconut soaps from Lush and fancied getting hold of some coconut body lotion to use alongside these soaps. I've been buying a lot of stuff from The Body Shop recently and chose this Coconut Milk Body Lotion.
This body lotion is described as a light, easily absorbed lotion that smells like fresh coconuts and hydrates normal to dry skin. It contains Community Fair Trade organic virgin coconut oil, which comes from the Polynesian island of Samoa, as part of a trade with Women in Business Development Inc which supports community projects. It also contains Community Fair Trade organic virgin babassu oil. The Body Shop is a founding member of the Ethical Trading Initiative which ensures the people who make and supply their products are treated fairly and with respect.
The lotion comes in a clear plastic bottle so you can easily see how much you have left. It is dispensed via a spray nozzle so you get the idea straight away that the lotion is quite thin. A couple of sprays releases a decent amount of lotion, which isn't quite the consistency of milk but is the consistency of, perhaps, a yoghurt drink - maybe a bit thinner! I wouldn't recommend removing the screw top of this lotion as it moves around very easily inside the bottle and would have the potential to spill everywhere!
I tend to use around 7 or so sprays for my whole body (the spray doesn't release lots of lotion at a time). The product sinks into the skin really well, as befits a thin body lotion, with no greasiness. The lotion has a lovely smell of coconut, which is very strong - it lasts on my skin at least all morning, which is pretty impressive. This is ideal for me as it means I don't need to wear perfume during the day, although as the smell has worn off by the evening I can apply perfume if I'm going out and it won't clash. Of course, if you prefer to wear perfume during the day this might not be the ideal body lotion for you.
I was impressed with the moisturising properties of this body lotion. Though it is marketed as being for normal to dry skin, I was a bit dubious about this as it is so thin. However, despite this it is incredibly moisturising and keeps my dry skin hydrated all day. Using the lotion every day I find it lasts about six weeks, which is reasonable.
A 250ml bottle of this body lotion is priced at £8, which is expensive but The Body Shop always has special offers on, including 50% off codes for online shopping that should be usable if you don't mind hanging on for a good deal. Therefore I won't remove any stars for the price.
Overall, this is a great body lotion, highly moisturising with a lovely scent (especially ideal for the summer) and available at a reasonable price if you hang around for a discount code. I do find I get a bit sick of the scent if I use it every single day, so I tend to use it for a week or so before temporarily switching to another product. However, it is a high quality product and a great buy. The Body Shop also produce other coconut-related products so you can layer the scent, including shower gel, soap, body scrub, body butter, and a coconut shimmer body lotion and body butter.
WHAT IS IT?
A body lotion from The Body Shop that is fragranced with coconut milk.
The lotion is sold in a slim plastic bottle with a pump dispenser attached to the top. The bottle is see through so you can see the white contents of the lotion inside, it looks very virginal as the label is mainly white too so it looks basic but attractive.
HOW DO YOU USE IT?
You spray some of the lotion onto your body and rub it in. It's a very thin lotion so the spray nozzle is a good idea because it would be hard to dispense otherwise without it dripping everywhere. The nozzle sprays out just enough each time and then you just need to massage the lotion across your skin until it has absorbed.
IS IT ANY GOOD?
It smells beautiful and is the best coconut smell of all in The Body Shop, it has got a creamy smell that would make you think it was a thicker product than it really is if you just smelled it from the bottle. The lotion feels very cooling as you spray it onto your body and the smell comes through instantly. It is more of a milk mist than a lotion, a perfect amount is sprayed from the bottle and it absorbs as soon as you start rubbing it in. It's not greasy at all and has a soft milky feel, I leaves my skin with a wet feeling for a few minutes after I've used it but can get dressed straight away because it's not actually wet.
This is only a light moisturiser so good for everyday use but not if you have very dry skin or a skin condition that requires you to moisturise more heavily. It keeps my skin feeling soft and moisturised but I have to use another lotion for areas where I get dry skin, when I was using this all over my dry skin got worse so I've learnt where on my body is suitably healthy to manage with this beautiful lotion and where I need to use something else. I like using this on hot days because it's so cooling and it's the sort of thing I've take on holiday with me to apply after I had been sunbathing.
The Body Shop Coconut Milk Body Lotion lasts for a long time because the bottle sprays out such a small amount that it never looks like the contents are going down, I've had the bottle I'm using now for about 6 weeks and it's not even half empty.
5 Dooyoo Stars.
Recently The Body Shop have been bleeding me dry. It's one of my favourite shops and it seems every time I purchase something of late I get another irresistible money saving offer come my way. As a result I know have enough products from this store to open up my own and I'm slowly working my way through them.
I particularly like The Body Shop's coconut range as coconut is one of my favourite scents and The Body Shop's range smell like the real thing rather than a synthetic 'fake' coconut smell. So I picked up a bottle of their Coconut Milk Body Lotion when I had a 50% off voucher.
This body lotion can picked up in The Body Shop stores or ordered from their website for £8 for a 250ml bottle and is recommended for normal/dry skin. The lotion comes in a clear plastic bottle which shows the white lotion contained. The Body Shop's green logo is printed on the front as well as the product name and little product description printed in brown, clear font. The body lotion is dispensed via a pump action spray nozzle which allows you to easily dispense as much or as little as you like.
Dispensing a bit of this lotion wafts a beautiful fresh coconut scent in my direction which I simply cannot resist! The coconut scent comes from organic fairtrade virgin coconut oil and this product hasn't been tested on animals so it's a nice and friendly body lotion.
I do tend to use body butters rather than lotions for moisturising so I am used to something a little thicker although, even for a lotion, I think this one is thinner than usual. It's very runny which is why that pump nozzle comes in extremely usefully. If this was a simple flip top lid bottle then I imagine tipping a bit out would lead to loads of product going absolutely everywhere! I do quite like the runny consistency of this as it's so lightweight and easily absorbed into the skin without leaving any streaks or residue. It adds a light shimmer to my body which gives my skin a healthy glow. I find that I really don't need to use much to give my entire body adequate coverage and I can get about 20-25 uses out of a 250ml bottle.
It leaves my skin feeling very soft, smooth and hydrated as well as giving that lovely fresh scent of coconut which lingers on my skin for hours. If I apply this just before bed I can still clearly detect it on my skin the following morning. I would say though that this body lotion probably isn't going to do much for you if you suffer with particularly dry skin. I tend to get quite dry skin on my elbows and it doesn't really do much for that area of my body. Everywhere else, however, this works a treat! Because it's so light and easily absorbed it's really quick to apply, a lot quicker than applying thicker body butters and I find it useful for those times where I'm feeling quite lazy. It doesn't leave my skin feeling sticky or wet so I don't have to worry about letting this 'dry'.
It's a great little body lotion which does the job providing your skin isn't desperately dry. It has an absolutely beautiful scent which lingers on the skin for hours and a bottle lasts a decent amount of time too. There's loads of products in the coconut range too meaning it's easy to layer this lovely scent!
I love this product. The Body Shop never lets you down with quality. This body lotion has a lovely fragrant scent, it reminds me of holidays and sun tan lotion, the scent is long lasting, people can still smell it on me the following day! It keeps my skin well hydrated, and lovely and soft. It is in an easy to apply pump action spray bottle, the advantage of this is you are completely in control of how much you apply, as with a pour bottle you can end up with loads coming out when you only wanted a little bit. There is only one size of bottle available, which is 250ml at £8.00 a bottle, but it goes an extremely long way. My bottle has lasted me over a year so far, and I use it every time I shower! It is definitely worth investing in a bottle as it lasts so long, as with the pump action spray aswell you don't waste any, and you don't use more than you need to! The Body Shop always has offers on and online discounts, so you may be able to grab a bottle for cheaper if you keep your eye out! My favourite body lotion of all time, and I definitely recommend it to all of you reading this review!
The Body Shop is a beauty brand offering a wide range of skin, makeup and bath products. Body Shop try to use Fair Trade ingredients in their products where possible.
The Body Shop offer a wide range of coconut products including body butters, lotions, soaps and shower gels to name a few. My review discusses the "Coconut Milk Body Lotion".
This lotion is recommended for those who have normal to dry skin. Body Shop claim that the lotion is light weight and will leave your skin soft and smooth as well as scented with a fresh coconut scent. Amongst the ingredients, there is Fair Trade organic virgin coconut oil and babussu oil.
The milk lotion is presented in a round bottle made of clear plastic. The bottle features a spray top for easy dispensing. There is a few bits of information provided on the bottle. The bottle can be recycled and has a shelf life of 12months.
This milk lotion is available in a 250ml bottle. It can be purchased instore or from www.bodyshop.co.uk. It is currently priced at £8.00. A small gift set can be bought for £6.00 and includes a miniature bottle of this lotion and some other miniatures in the coconut scent.
I was given a bottle of this milk lotion by a friend recently as she was having a major clearout of her beauty boxes. I accept anything especially if it is coconut scented as I adore this scent! I have never been fully impressed with Body Shop products but I do like to try new products and judge them by their own merit rather than the brand.
The bottle is presented well and the creamy white milk can be seen through the plastic. The addition of a spray top makes using this product very simple and less messy than it would be if pouring from a bottle. Due to the runny, milky consistency of the lotion, once the spray is activitated, it products a fine, milky mist onto my skin and feels very light and cooling on my sensitive skin. It isn't very messy as it clings to my skin as opposed to running off it.
I often find that milk type lotions are often too light weight to combat my dry skin and simply skim the surface. This lotion has a pleasing consistency that is easy to rub across my skin without too much effort. It absorbs quickly but I do find that it leaves my skin feeling a bit tacky for a short while before fully absorbing.
The lotion doesn't have a major effect on my skin (which I actually expected to be honest). It leaves the surface feeling smooth and subtley hydrated but this doesn't last long. It isn't thick enough to provide enough deep down hydration to my skin. It barely has an effect on dry areas such as elbows and knees but does leave my hands feeling soft so there is a bonus! It appears to be the perfect moisturiser for my slightly dry hands once the tackiness subsides. Probably best for non-problematic skin though disappointing as it does claim to be for dry skin.
I was quite disappointed with the scent of this lotion. It has a fresh, sweet aroma in the bottle and this is also noticeable as I rub it across my skin - it is actually quite strongly scented at this point. All good and appealing until the tacky feel subsides and the real scent becomes noticeable. Perhaps I am too used to sweet, exotic coconut scents. This one smelled unusual and although there was a coconut smell there, it didn't smell as sweet and creamy as I would have liked. It was like a light coconut scent with a sort of nutty topping.
It just smelled a bit different to any other coconut product I have used before and I wasn't all that keen. It isn't a nasty smell though it isn't one I would want to smell of all the time - a bit bland. It doesn't last long on my skin though and if you did like the coconut smell, I would recommend layering the scent by using the matching body products. An unappealing smell is enough to put me off a product so this one hasn't been used much.
Pleasantly light weight and gentle on the skin but simply not for me. It doesn't bode well with my dry skin and the scent just doesn't sit well with me so I have stopped using this lotion. It would be an ok Summer product as it isn't too heavy and one bottle would last well. I could imagine it being beneficial to spray on after a day in the sun as it cools the skin nicely. It isn't badly priced though i would prefer to take my £8.50 and put it towards a nice tub of body butter from another brand!
Thanks for reading x
The Body Shop's Coconut collection is always very popular; they have a wide range of coconut products from lip butter to shower gel. This review will cover the body lotion, a lighter alternative to the deeply moisturising body butter.
~~~ Initial Introduction to the Body Lotion ~~~
If you go in to any Body Shop Shop (how weird does that sound? You know what I mean.) you will undoubtedly be met by a cheerful and enthusiastic sales assistant. The body shop has a policy of providing free samples upon request, which is rather helpful.
I am a lover of the Body Shop in general and regularly buy their Coconut Body Butter which is very rich; however, I wanted something lighter for the warmer weather. I tried the tester of the Coconut Milk Body Lotion in the shop and felt that it was nicely moisturising and smelled lovely. However, I also asked for a small sample to take away and try again at home. The girl was happy to help and produced a small pot (like a lip balm container) which she filled from the in store tester. I went on my merry way home and tried out the sample. I was back in the shop to buy a full size bottle the following day.
~~~ The Product Packaging ~~~
The Body Lotion comes in a 250ml spray bottle. The bottle is made from clear, recyclable plastic and the pump nozzle is a transparent white colour.
The label on the bottle shows the Body Shop logo and contains the name of the product (COCONUT MILK BODY LOTION) in brown writing. The label also describes the product (Lightweight moisturisation with coconut milk and creamy coconut oil) and states that it is for normal or dry skin. The image on the label is of halved coconuts and looks good enough to eat, which I guess is part of the plan, it looks delicious and makes people want to buy it!
If you are a regular Body Shop customer you will know that the product labels usually have a "Made with passion" section which explains about the community trade products used within whichever item you happen to be buying. As the Body Shop is an ethical company, this is a very important part of their image and many of their customers (including me) enjoy reading about their community projects which are supported through the products. The Coconut Body Lotion bottle informs me that community traded babassu oil is included in the Milk and that it enables poor families in remote areas of Brazil to send their children to school. All very feel good, I do hope that it helps them as much as it claims to.
~~~ The Lotion: Scent, Texture, Look ~~~
The important bit... does is smell good? YES! It smells absolutely divine, exactly the same scent as the Coconut Body Butter. It smells like holidays and sweeties. It is definitely a scent for people who like sweet things. It's quite a young fragrance actually, and very fresh. It's also great to wear instead of perfume as the scent is quite strong and lasts all day. An absolute dream as long as you love the scent. I am sure there may be people who do not like the scent and I would advise those who get sickened by sweet smells to stay away, as it really does linger on your skin all day.
As stated on the packaging, it is a light moisturiser for normal to dry skin. It is indeed very light. It is a milk and I'd say it has the consistency of single cream, it is not too runny, but most definitely a liquid as opposed to a butter or a cream. It is a bright white colour and is very smooth and pure. It feels (and smells) like you are rubbing fresh coconut milk into your skin. It is quite smooth and not at all greasy. It seems to moisturise without leaving your skin oily or shiny looking at all.
~~~ The Lotion: Moisturisation, Effectiveness ~~~
Although it is for normal to dry skin, I'd guess that perhaps those with dry skin may need something slightly richer. I have normal skin and it is perfect for me as a day to day moisturiser. It is especially good in the summer as it sinks right in to the skin and does not leave me feeling greasy or sticky. After rubbing it in, your skin feels very soft and smooth with no hint of stickiness; it's absolutely perfect for everyday use.
However, I would say that it is not as intensely moisturising as the body butters and if you are looking for the same effects as those, I'm afraid you will be disappointed. However, if you are simply looking for a light, easy to use moisturiser which softens the skin and keeps you looking gorgeous, then you're on to a winner with this one!
The body lotion is very effective in maintaining soft, smooth, healthy skin and you will probably find that if you use this lotion, people will comment on how soft your skin is (only those you allow close enough - I'm not suggesting that you run up to folk in the street and shout "FEEL MY SKIN!!" although you may be tempted, you have been warned!)
~~~ Other Uses ~~~
I use fake tan and I always moisturise first, however, sometimes I find that a very oily moisturiser can cause a bit of streaking. This stuff is the answer! Instead of using all of the moisturisers you're "supposed" to buy to prep your skin, I just use this stuff. It sinks into the skin and allows the tanning lotion to go on to the skin smoothly. It moisturised elbows and knees enough that you don't end up with but orange patches and seems to make your whole tan very uniform and airbrushed looking, always a good thing! I'd recommend it for use before tanning.
The spray bottle is also great to use as a water spray after the product is gone. Otherwise, the bottle can be recycled.
~~~ Conclusion ~~~
This product is an excellent example of a lightweight moisturiser for ever day use. I would recommend it to anyone! If you like the smell then it's absolutely perfect. I have had my current 250ml bottle for 4 months, I use it almost every day and I still have almost half of the bottle left. I think this may be to do with the spray nozzle. It is easy to use, but spraying means that you automatically use less as you are not simply pouring or scooping loads of product from a tub. The spray is fairly generous and allows just enough product on to your skin.
If you are looking for a great smelling summer moisturiser which will sink in quickly then give this a try!
I love this product!
I have always been a massive fan of the Body Shop's coconut range and loved using the Body Butter when I could, but now I have come across this milk I definitely prefer this. It's so much easier to use than the body butter, just squirt it on and rub in. It's really nourishing and smells gorgeous. It's not as thick as the body butter which makes it feel refreshing and silky. It's obviously a bonus being made entirely from natural products and NEVER tested on animals.
It is great as a stand alone product but I would also reccommend using it along with the other products in the coconut range as part of a skin care regime to layer the coconut scent and ensure it lasts much longer. There are always great offers on the body shop website or even book a party with a consultant to benefit from a fun night in testing out a range of great products.
I love anything that is coconut fragranced and find that people will often comment about the nice smell. For Christmas this year I received a small set which had a coconut shower cream in and a coconut body lotion along with one of those netting scrubber things from The Body Shop.
This review is for the coconut milk body lotion.
The Body Shop does have a range of coconut products which in my opinion all smell divine! The coconut milk body lotion is no exception to this! As soon as you open the lid you are hit with the creamy, coconutty (I know that's not even a word but that's what it smells like!). Even after just opening the lid to have a sniff I can still smell the lotion and the lid was put straight back down!
The bottle that I got in my set is just 60ml and is approximately half full now. I have applied it a few times all over my body though so it is not bad going at all. The bottle is plastic, but recyclable and is creamy in colour. The Body Shops logo is present along with the product name and a description in both English and French.
The description says that it is a lightweight moisturisation with community trade organic virgin coconut oil and is suitable for normal to dry skin. I think the skin on my body is pretty normal and this product applies well so I think that is probably a true assessment.
To apply the product you first need to open the flip top lid. Once you have done this you can squeeze some of the lotion on to your hands to rub in, or directly on your body. The lotion is quite runny though so I tend to put some on my hands and then rub in where desired. When I rub it on I find it absorbs into my skin quickly and makes my skin feel soft. There is then the coconut fragrance which really does linger for a few hours at least. You will need to wash your hands afterwards as if the cream lingers anywhere it is there as you are applying it with your hands-this is the only place I have noticed my skin feel greasy after application.
This product won't be for you if you don't like coconuts or lotions with fragrances that are quite strong.
I have just had a quick look on The Body Shop website to find some prices and can confirm that you will pay the following:
Whilst these prices are definitely not cheap I feel it is worth is for soft feeling, gorgeous smelling moisturised skin.
