The Body Shop Japanese Cherry Blossom Body Butter
Japanese Cherry Blossom is one of the Body Shop's current ranges incorporating body care, face products and EDT and here I am reviewing the Body Butter. The packaging is pretty pink and definitely Japanese inspired with the range having pretty pale pink background fronted with a lovely branch of slightly darker pink blossom and a temple watermark image in the background.
The container is fairly typical of this type of product being a round slim 10.5cm diameter tub. When you first unscrew the lid the pack is reassuringly sealed with a foil/plastic seal so you know the product has not been tampered with and is as fresh as possible. The tub is pale pink with a black lid and the pink Japanese Cherry Blossom logo label on the top.
The fragrance is light, subtle and floral with sweet undertones. I would describe it as a soft floral subtle fragrance. I would expect the fragrance to have quite a young appeal, but actually on consideration I believe it will suit any female. Maybe a bit too floral for males though. The fragrance lasts well and I usually layer the fragrance by using other products in the range at the same time to gain maximum benefit and to save wearing a separate perfume. The fragrance is long lasting and is strengthened by layering with other products from the range means the lovely fragrance lasts well and I tend to receive the right sort of comments and even ego boosting compliments! I often apply this before going to bed and the fragrance transfers to the sheets which is lovely and I can still smell it in the morning.
To use, I simply scoop a small blob out with my fingers and rub gently onto my body, whilst enjoying the soft fragrance. The body butter absorbs easily and little effort to rub in is required. My skin feels soft and pampered and never feels greasy after application. Indeed, the Japanese Cherry Blossom Body Butter is easy and pleasing to use. Especially once I have been applying for a few days my skin feels especially hydrated, healthy, soft and smooth.
Conclusion & Stars:
I recommend The Body Shop Japanese Cherry Blossom Body Butter, it has become one of my favourite Body Shop ranges and the Body Butter is one of the best body butters on the market that I have tried. It is light and fresh and uplifting to wear and does my skin a lot of good too!
Price & Availability:
Usual price is a whopping £12.99 although Body Shop do sometimes do 3 for 2 on their ranges and I stock up when certain Body Butters are on offer at £5.00. From Body Shop in store and on-line.
I have just bought my second tub of The Body Shop Japanese Cherry Blossom Body Butter. I bought my last jar almost a year ago but it lasts for ages and keeps really well. I love Body Shop Body Butters but at £13 each they can work out a lot of money so I treat myself only every now and again. I was browsing on Amazon the other week and I noticed that they also seem to sell a few Body Butters from the Body Shop at reduced prices, for example the Pink Grapefruit and the Satsuma ones are a good few pounds cheaper and with free delivery. I scrolled through to see if the Cherry Blossom was also available, but sadly it's not and so I have had to pay full price for this one.
The tub I have is the same size as the last one I had and is 200ml in size. It is made of plastic with a well fitting screw top lid and it has a pretty delicate picture on the top of an illustration of Japanese cherry blossom. It looks really pretty in my bathroom. What I love most of all about this body butter (as with all Body Shop Butters) is the way they just melt into the skin. There is no rubbing required. They seem to interact with the natural temperature of your body and just melt into the layers of the skin and they feel very luxurious and make my skin so soft and supple.
I love to use the Cherry Blossom one at weekends mainly, after my bath or shower, it's my little weekend treat and a little luxury I really look forward to. The smell of this Cherry Blossom is to die for. I usually go for the tangy fruity smelly body butters, but this lightly fragranced and floral smell makes a real change and it lasts and lasts for ages after it's been applied to my skin.
The body butter feels a little bit greasy and oily when I first scoop a small amount into my skin, but after having used a few different types of Body Shop body butters, you soon get used to this feeling. The greasiness definitely doesn't last long at all and it's quickly absorbed right into my parched skin and then it's almost disappeared in an instant. There is no greasy after feeling left on my skin and I can get dressed pretty much immediately after I have applied it.
My husband loves this body butter and always compliments me on how I smell after I have used this particular one - it's definitely one of his favourites and he prefers it to the usual fruity ones I tend to use a lot of. It's expensive for a 200ml tub but as it has such a long shelf life and I only have to use a tiny amount for excellent results, I feel it's also very much worth it.
One of my absolute favourite body butters and highly recommended.
've always liked products from The Body Shop. I know cost wise they can work out quite expensive and I tend to go for Avon, or perhaps things that I can pick up in Asda and that for the ease of it, but when I have a bit spare cash (not that often to be fair) I do like to treat myself. I often get Body Shop sets for birthday and christmas presents though which is even better.
I got a set containing different Japanese Cherry Blossom products and there was a 50ml tub of this in here. I don't know if you can buy the 50ml tubs on their own or if they come only in sets as I have only seen the 200ml tubs when I have been in the shop. The 200ml tubs cost £12.50 which is expensive for a Body Lotion I think but pricewise it is pretty normal for the shop.
The tub looks like the picture on here. Quite a wide tub which is not that deep. Because it is so wide then you will find it easy to scoop out the product from here. Even the 50ml tub which is pretty small is easy to scoop it out.
This Butter feels pretty Greasy but it does absorb into your skin easily enough. At first the Butter feels quite firm, but this melts a little as soon as you scoop it out and it seems to glide over your skin. Although your skin will feel a bit greasy at first this seems to soak in quickly enough and after 5 minutes I could not feel this. I do really like the scent of this. Before I got the set I had used the Perfume quite a while ago and like the light scent with a little Musky Floral dash to it. It's quite a simple scent and the scent lingers a while as well. Just lovely.
If you are on O2 you can use their Priority app if you have a smartphone or look it up online on the O2 site. There is often Body Shop offers and the current one is £20 off when you spend £40, which will allow you to save a bit on the products.
A really Good Body Butter which softens and leaves a lovely scent. A little goes a long way.
I'm a big fan of The Body Shop's Japanese Cherry Blossom range and the perfume in this scent is probably my all time favourite. I often purchase all of the items in this range and layer the scent to make it as strong as possible and this includes moisturising my body with Japanese Cherry Blossom Body Butter after a bath or shower.
The body butter can be purchased from The Body Shop stores or ordered from their website, a 200ml pot costing £12.50. I currently have a smaller 50ml pot which I managed to pick up in the stores recent sale for a bargain price of £2.50 although I don't think these smaller pots are available any more.
The packaging of this body butter is lovely and matches the scent of the product perfectly. The butter is contained in a solid colour pink plastic pot with black screw on lid. The lid contains a pale pink sticker showing the white The Body Shop logo, product name and short description. Crawling down the right hand side of this sticker is a drawing of a beautiful looking cherry blossom, some blossoms attached to a branch, others falling to the bottom of the pot. The pot gives the whole product a very delicate feel which is true of the scent of the actual body butter.
Unscrewing the lid of this pot reveals a creamy pale pink body butter which has a thick consistency. The smell is absolutely beautiful. A very delicate, light, sweet and floral scent, not over powering in the slightest but strong enough to easily detect instantly. This is what I would class as a summery scent but one I can happily still wear all year round. Whether or not this closely resembles the scent of an actual cherry blossom I don't know as I've never smelt one. Regardless it really is a lovely scent and I highly doubt there would be many people out there who would disagree.
To apply the body butter I simply scoop it up a blob out of the pot and start massaging into clean, dry skin. The circular pot means it's easy to get out every last bit of product so none goes to waste. The body butter soaks into my skin very quickly and little rubbing is required. It doesn't leave any white marks or residue and my skin never feels greasy after application. In fact the only effects this body butter has on my skin are very positive ones.
After applying this my skin feels a whole lot more hydrated and this hydration really does last. My skin feels softer and smoother and is left with a nice healthy glow to it. My knees and elbows, which always welcome an extra bit of moisture, are left feeling soft, smooth and beautiful. The scent lasts for hours. Teamed up with the perfume and body mist from this range leaves me smelling of this for the entire day which always gets me lots of compliments. On the occasions where I use this product on its own after a bath or shower in the evening, I can still smell it on my skin the following morning which is the perfect wake up call for me.
I have no complaints with this product whatsoever. I use body butters almost daily so I've naturally worked my way through a fair few and this one is by far my favourite. The scent is just divine and has a lot of staying power, the long lasting hydration effects are perfect for the particularly dry areas of my skin and I'll never become bored of the soft and smooth skin this gives me! Like with all The Body Shop products this one hasn't been tested on animals and the soya oil this contains is fairtrade so, by buying this body butter, I'm not only helping my skin but I'm helping organic farmers in Brazil!
If you try this body butter it'll probably be the only one you ever want to use again, it really is that good.
I adore The Body Shop products and so decided to take advantage of a recent Sale within their stores. I actually ended up visiting three different branches of the store which I hadn't set out to do, but decided to take full advantage of having the opportunity to do so, and so ended up scooping some impressive bargains within the discounted sections in the relevant stores.
One of my finds was a Body Butter product from the "Japanese Cherry Blossom" range within The Body Shop. There is a small selection of items available in this range such as a Shower Gel and a Body Mist, should you wish to co-ordinate your toiletries.
As @ the time of writing (August 2012), the Cherry Blossom Body Butter is available to buy online at www.thebodyshop.co.uk and in some branches of the store. There appears to be only one size of tub available at this time and this is a generous 200ml offering. The normal price for this tub is £12.50.
I was able to purchase a smaller sized tub of the Body Butter which is only 50ml in size, although it appears that this is no longer available. I paid around £2 for my tub, which I thought was excellent value for money considering the price of The Body Shop Body Butters in general.
The packaging for the product is very similar to any other body butter product that I have bought from The Body Shop before, comprising of a circular tub made of hard-wearing, robust plastic. There is a screw-off lid on top which is easy to open and replace, in my experience. The colours used on the tub are not the most attractive I have ever come across I must admit; the bottom of the lid is a sickly shade of pink whilst the lid offers a contrast by way of a solid black lid. You would be forgiven for assuming the product was from the well-known 'Soap & Glory' range of toiletries and cosmetics if you viewed it from afar. There is a little more delicate detail to be found in the attractive image of cherry blossom flowers on the printed label that is stuck firmly on top of the round lid. This little detail 'softens' what would otherwise be a rather cheap-looking product image in my opinion.
The butter itself is of a very thick consistency as you would expect. Being a very pale pinky-white colour, the product actually resembles yoghurt or something similar, although it is much more 'solid' than this. The appearance is very attractive and inviting.
The product's aroma is evident even as the lid is screwed off of the tub. Being completely true to the scent of Cherry Blossom, I find the fragrance is completely inviting and quite delicious. I am very familiar with the scent of Cherry Blossom flowers and will regularly seek out products that carry this beautiful fragrance such as scented candles to burn in my home. I am always bewildered when I read reviews from people who are disappointed in Cherry Blossom-scented products that do NOT smell of cherries! Anyway, the scent of the Body Butter is extremely fragrant, although it is not a 'heavy' floral scent at all and is surprisingly light and quite refreshing. Also, I find the scent is really quite contemporary and it's beautiful, powdery undertone really comes through once the product has been absorbed into the skin.
I find the scent lasts for quite a long time which is something that is welcome by me, but I would think it may well interfere with other products worn at the same time. I won't be deducting any points from the rating score however, as the scent is not over-powering or demanding, but it is certainly stronger than first anticipated. Another point worth mentioning, I think, is that the scent feels wonderfully uplifting and cheering, which I can only assume is down to its light, 'airy' feeling.. This feeling makes the product feel perfectly suited to the summer months as a result.
The moisturisation properties to be found from the Cherry Blossom Body Butter are second to none; not only is skin completely softened after application, but I find the effects are quite long-lasting, with the soft and supple effects being evident for a good few days after each application. This result in itself is enough to make me repurchase the product again, but the fact that the product causes nothing in the way of aggravation or irritation to my sensitive skin - and in particular, the troublesome eczema which 'flares' easily - has been a huge and very welcome bonus for yours truly. It is true to say that many products - particularly those with a strong or 'floral' type scent to them - can often aggravate my sensitive skin, so I was slightly cautious about using the product at first. Relieved to note no ill-effects, I have happily smothered myself in the delicious butter regularly, and will continue to do so until my tub runs out.
This will be quite some time down the line, judging by how much of the product remains in the tub, even after regular use. I do find that only a little of the product is required with each use, and as the product has a surprisingly 'light' consistency to it, it spreads over the skins surface easily - much easier than other body butter products that I use regularly. This means that less of the butter needs to be used, and so the product has proven to be an economical purchase, which goes some way to justifying the higher-than-average price tag.
The last thing I want to mention is that the Cherry Blossom Body Butter takes a little while to 'sink' into the skin properly, although this could be said of most other body butters too. It is a much thicker product than a simple body lotion and so I find it takes a few moments more to evaporate properly. This is not a huge problem, and certainly nothing that would deter me from repurchasing, but it is perhaps a product that is not best suited to those times when we are rushing around trying to get ourselves ready of a morning.
All in all, I am thoroughly impressed with the Japanese Cherry Blossom Body Butter and it is definitely a product that I will buy again. I think that the large tub's slightly high price tag is definitely deserved as the product feels gorgeous and leaves skin smooth and soft... top marks from me!
