Advantages: REALLY helps very dry skin

Disadvantages: The smell can be a bit overpowering

The Body Shop Mango Body Butter claims to be suitable for very dry skin and as my skin is VERY dry I decided to give it a try. Obviously it is only available in The Body Shop and comes in 2 different sizes - 50ml costing £5 and 200ml costing £12.50. I decided to buy the 50ml size initially just to try it out and see if it is worth buying the larger size.

The Body Shop body butter is made from a base of cocoa butter, which is good for cooling and soothing dry skin. Cocoa butter has been used for many years in Ghana to moisturise and keep the skin cool in the hot temperatures. It also contains almond oil, which replaces essential fatty acids back into the skin which in turn helps to repair dry skin and restore important moisture back into the skin. The Mango Body Butter contains mango seed oil, which is also good for moisturising the skin.

The Mango Body Butter comes in a bright orange coloured plastic tub with a screw lid. The lid has a picture of a juicy mango on top. On first opening the tub the very strong and distinctive sweet, fruity scent of mango immediately hits you. The body butter is quite a firm moisturiser with a very definite butter texture to it, a bit like a spreadable butter! (not too hard and not too soft) With the texture of the body butter being so firm I did find it slightly awkward to get a small amount onto my fingers, my fingers just seemed to slide over the top unless I actually pressed them down into the butter. Not a problem though, once I had the body butter in my hands it almost seemed to melt into my skin, it smoothed over my skin very easily and seemed to be very easily absorbed leaving a very light oily coating, although it didn't make my skin feeling greasy in any way. My skin felt great after use and continued to feel supply and moisturised throughout the day. It was also left smelling very sweet and fruity for the rest of the day too. At first I really liked this fruity scent on my skin but gradually as the day wore on it did become a bit overpowering and sickly.

I would definitely recommend this body butter to anyone with very dry skin, it has worked wonders on my skin. I have very rough dry skin on my hands, which causes the fingertips to peel and feel very rough, almost like sandpaper. After a week of using this body butter daily I am very pleased to say the skin on my fingertips has been repaired and is no longer rough at all, much to my great surprise.

I have been using this body butter daily on myself and my daughter for over a week now and have only just skimmed the surface as a little seems to go a long way, so I suspect it will last a while.

My one and only grumble about this body butter would be that the scent can be a bit overpowering and sickly after a while, although it's worth putting up with to get the super end results I've got!

Good review- i think i would stay clear of this one though due to the ingredients. Body shop products do smell absolutely LUSH though! Hard not to be tempted when you walk past the shop getting a waft of fruit heaven x

Great review Lel!
Sounds very expensive though! Glad they don't test on animals, I hate companies that do that!
