Disadvantages: not highly moisturising for extra dry skin, expensive
~Mango Body Butter~
The Body Shop offer a range of mango scented products including shower gel, body scrub and also this body butter. This is one of many scented body butters offered them. Their products are not tested on animals.
This body butter is described as being 'super rich and creamy'. It is aimed at those who have very dry skin as the intensive formula is designed to provide 24 hour hydration and leave skin soft and smooth. As well as having an exotic mango scent, this body butter contains Community Trade cocoa butter in its ingredients.
~Packaging~
As with the other body butters that Body Shop offer, this variety is presented in a round, plastic tub. In this case, the tub is orange in colour and features a label which illustrates a mango. The important product information is on the base of the tub. The tub can be recycled and this product has a 12month shelf life.
~Price and Availability~
This body butter is available from www.bodyshop.co.uk and instore. A 50ml tub is priced at £5.00 whilst the larger 200ml tub is priced at £13.00. The website regularly has offers where you can save up to 50% on full price (and sometimes sale) stock so this may be worth taking advantage of as you can save a fortune.
~My Thoughts~
I can't say that I am crazy for Body Shop products but I do quite like their body butters. My sister bought a lot during a promotion and as she gets bored of products very easily, I usually end up with them. One body butter I own at the moment is the mango body butter. I do feel £13.00 is quite expensive for a body butter and do normally favour Soap and Glory body butters which are a bit cheaper for more product.
I like to use body lotions and body butters to keep my dry skin in good condition. Whilst the mango one is ideal for using during warmer months, I have been using it occasionally through the colder months too. The tub itself is very practical as it allows the body butter to be easy accessible and there is no chance of any wastage as the contents can be scooped out. The tub looks bright and eye catching too and the screw top lid is simple and quick to remove.
~Butter Me Up!~
On opening the tub, a thick, pale orange body butter is revealed. This body butter has a gorgeous feel to it. I normally scoop out a small blob at a time and find that a little goes a long way. The body butter has a creamy, springy sort of consistency which once spread across my skin, quickly changes to a light, slightly oily layer. It becomes really lightweight once spread which surprised me as I expected it to be thick and indulgent. My skin is left feeling instantly cool and smooth and I find that the butter absorbs quickly into my skin leaving no residue. I find that this body butter is very kind to my sensitive skin. I do have very dry skin and whilst I wouldn't say that this is the most moisturising body butter I have ever used, it does leave my skin feeling hydrated and soft to the touch for most of the day. I would say 24 hours of moisturisation is a little optimistic for extra dry skin but for normal to slightly dry areas of skin, I find that this works an absolute treat.
The scent of this body butter is very strong and instantly noticeable. I love the smell of mangoes at find that this body butter has a true to life, very authentic scent. It is fresh, Summery sweet and delicious fruity. Once it has been applied to freshly showered skin, I find the scent to be absolutely gorgeous. It sits beautifully on my skin leaving me smelling fruity and feeling nicely perfumed. I don't feel the need to apply a perfume as it may clash. I find the scent lasts well and is still noticeable later on in the day albeit, in a much weaker way. It smells perfectly Summery and is a pleasure to wear.
~Conclusion~
Whilst I prefer body butters which offer a bit more moisturisation for my extra dry areas of skin, I do find this one pleasant to use. It leaves my skin feeling really nice and the smell is simply divine. One 200ml tub is long lasting as this can be used sparingly for lasting results. You really do need to like the scent to appreciate it. I feel it is one of Body Shops nicer scented body butters and I can recommend it.
