Advantages: Leaves skin soft and silky smooth with a lingering fragrance
Disadvantages: None for me
If you read my previous review you will be aware that I am a real fan of Body Shop Mango and love to be able to layer its' fresh and extremely delightful fragrance. I wrote a positive review on the shower gel where I advised that I often like to complete my bathing experience by using the Mango Whip Body Lotion and this review discusses my experience with using the product.
APPEARANCE OF THE PRODUCT
What I favour with all the Body Shop products and this is something I often mention when reviewing their toiletries is that their packaging is easy on the eye and uncluttered unlike many other brands. It is a real pet hate of mine to be stood in a busy shop whilst I am trying desperately to read the packaging prior to making my purchase and if it is cluttered I will often place the product back on the shelf and walk away. The lotion is presented to us in a transparent plastic bottle, which almost mirrors the matching shower gel with the small bottle containing a flip top lid and the larger version a pump dispenser. The familiar Body Shop logo is situated in the upper left hand corner and in the lower section are several images of mango slices.
MY EXPERIENCE WITH USING MANGO WHIP BODY LOTION
Whilst I do not suffer with sensitive skin on my body, I am prone to dry patches on areas such as my elbows and knees, particularly in the colder weather, so I always choose to use a moisturiser after each bath or shower. However, I often suffer with extremely dry hands that subsequently split and bleed, but I am pleased to advise that this product does not cause any adverse effects. I am fortunate enough to own both sizes of this lotion with the smaller bottle containing 60 ml and the larger 250 ml. A couple of presses of the pump dispenser provides a sufficient amount of fairly good consistency lotion to cover one leg and identical to that of the shower gel is its' absolutely stunning fragrance, which smells identical to that of real mangoes.
It easily and quickly absorbs into my skin without leaving any sticky residue and after application I do not feel the need to wash any remaining product from my hands. I would also advise that the smaller version, which is contained within the flip top lid bottle is also easily dispensed and as with all Body Shop products, the hinged section is always sturdy, so remains where it belongs, as opposed to detaching itself from the bottle! My only grumble is that I can never reach the very bottom of the bottles, so when it's nearly empty it's a case of balancing the bottle on its' lid to remove those last few drops of lotion.
As applying body lotions and creams can be somewhat cold during the winter months I initially rub the product for a few seconds between the palms of my hands to slightly warm before applying to my skin. During the hot summer months the lotion is wonderfully cooling. I find the lotion extremely mild and gentle and I have never suffered any adverse reactions when using and what I love about my experience with Body Shop products is that the fragrances lingers for a good while after use, particularly if I layer the products.
I have been looking after my skin since my teens where I regularly use various lotions, creams and body butters and as a result, the skin on my legs shines, as it is healthy and well moisturised and I am proud of what I have managed to achieve, particularly as I am now approaching my mid 40's. Body Shop Mango Whip Body Lotion enables me to keep my body in tip top condition as it leaves my skin feeling soft and silky smooth. It is suitable for daily use, but is only suited to females due to its' fruity aroma and the fact that the fragrance lingers for a considerable period of time although the shower gel would be suited to both sexes.
OTHER INFORMATION
I do not wish to be repeating myself in each Body Shop review, but I would advise that they do not test their products on animals and use natural ingredients where possible. As the list of ingredients contained on the reverse of the bottle is somewhat lengthy, for obvious reasons I do not intend copying it into this review. If you are familiar with the Body Shop you will be aware that in 1987 they launched Community Trade, as they value sustainability and in doing so, they are able to offer local farmers long term incomes. Once opened the bottle should be used within 12 months and can be recycled once empty.
PRICE AND AVAILABILITY
A previously stated Mango Whip Body Lotion is available in two sizes with the 60 ml bottle costing £3 and the 250 ml bottle costing £8.00.
This product receives my full recommendation together with 5 stars.
I hope you found my review useful and would thank you for reading.
