Advantages: Sweet scent, smoothes and hydrates the skin, all over use
Disadvantages: Ever so slightly annoying bottle design
Everybody who knows me understands my love of the Body Shop and so for Birthdays and Christmas I will often be given gift sets and items from this shop. One such gift was a bottle of this Mango Body Whip, a useful and very edible smelling present which I continue to use again and again.
**The Product**
This product is a lightweight body moisturiser which is less creamy than your traditional body butter and yet still manages to moisten the skin and make it feel more supple. The body lotion comes packaged in an upright plastic bottle which is topped with a plastic press down pump. The pump concept is great in my opinion as it enables you to pump out the exact amount you require every time. The packaging for this product is typical of the Body Shop and maintains a modern yet stylish looking design with the Body Shop logo emblazoned on the front of the bottle and an illustration of fresh mangoes around the bottom.
Inside the bottle, the moisturiser is clearly visible, being a creamy peach in colour.
**The Body Shop Claims**
The Body Shop claims that this lotion has a light whipped texture which hydrates the skin to leave it feeling soft and smooth.
**The Moisturiser**
Once you have worked out the method with which to open the bottle (I struggle with most pump concepts) the moisturiser comes easily out of the spout of the pump being a light creamy consistency. The consistency is rather similar to that of your average body moisturiser and is not thick and heavy like body butter. It is the smell of this lotion which makes it so special and it is perhaps unsurprising that this moisturiser smells predominantly of mangoes. However; there is also another scent that I find traceable that being a very sweet and almost sickly sweet sugary smell. The scent off this lotion sinks into the skin and leaves it smelling sweet for hours after use.
**Ingredients**
This body whip contains a number of ingredients, the key ones being mango pulp, mango seed oil and babassu oil.
**Price and Availability**
The body moisturiser comes in a 250ml bottle from the Body Shop and costs £8. This price is neither too pricey nor too cheap in my opinion and I consider it quite a good investment given that a bottle will usually last me for a couple of months. It also looks great when sat beside your bathroom sink as an unobtrusive hand moisturiser.
**Use**
The Body Shop recommend that this body whip is used by massaging into the skin, leaving to sink in and then dressing. Obviously this very much depends on the users' lifestyle as to how and when they apply it. I prefer to apply a dollop to my limbs and chest area after having a warm bath as I find that this gives me that lovely clean feeling before bed. It also means that my pyjamas smell yummy too. The cream rubs in easily into my skin leaving it feeling moisturised yet not at all greasy and it sinks into my skin within minutes allowing me to dress quickly.
**My Experience**
I love using this product purely for the moisture it gives to my skin and the sweet and feminine scent it leaves. The product is useful as an all over moisturiser or to simply rub into my hands after washing them and the light whipped qualities mean that it skins into my skin easily and leaves my skin feeling soft. I have used this moisturiser on normal skin but also on skin that has been shaved and waxed and have found that it does not provide any irritation or itching as many other fragranced creams would.
My only criticism of this product is the bottle design, which although makes the body whip easy to use also means that a small amount of the cream is wasted towards the end of its life. The moisturiser tends to stick to the bottom of the bottle making it unreachable for the pump.
I would recommend this body whip as a useful everyday moisturiser to hydrate the skin without leaving it feeling greasy. In particular this whip is great if used after a bath or before an important occasion as it will leave you smelling sweet and clean without having an overpowering scent.
This product scores a good four stars out of five from me.
