Advantages: Leaves your skin soft and smooth

Disadvantages: A little pricey.

I wouldn't normally go into the Body Shop and purchase something for myself as I always think their products are quite expensive and cheaper alternatives which work equally well can be sought elsewhere. However, it does tend to be the type of shop where I would buy presents for people though. This is because I do always think that they are of a good quality and items are always very nicely presented. However I was so pleased with this lovely, creamy, body butter - it is now a regular treat for myself!

I actually received this as a Christmas present and whilst previously I wouldn't go in the Body Shop to buy for myself - I am always very pleased to receive things from there off Santa!

Moringa Body Butter

I hadn't used the body butter from the Body Shop before and to be honest I had absolutely no idea what Moringa was!!

The Body Shop claims that the Body Butter acts as an intensive moisturizer which is suitable for the whole body. It is supposed to absorb into the skin easily to condition and soften it and the moisturizing effect is supposed to last for up to 24 hours.

The Body Butter contains moringa seed oil which is used to moisturize and protect the skin. On researching the Moringa tree in general I have found that it is also known as the 'miracle tree' and 'mothers best friend' as it contains a unique combination of vitamins and minerals which make it one of the most nutrious plants ever.

The butter also contains Shea butter which is also used to moisturize the skin and is supposed to leave it felling soft, smooth and supple. Shea butter is widely used in a number of moisturizers and is a natural fat extracted from the fruit of the shea tree. The shea butter itself is supposed to have natural anti inflammatory agents so is beneficial for use on various skin conditions like fading scars, skin discoloration, stretch marks, dry skin and blemishes.

My body butter came in a 200ml tub with a screw lid. The casing is yellow and features white petals on the front. As there are other varieties of body butter available - the image on the outside of the tub refers to the contents inside - so they are very easy to identify in the Body Shop.

Application

The body butter is best used after a shower or bath. The butter itself is quite thick and solid - so you have to scoop some out with your hand. As it is so thick, it doesn't leak like some other moisturizers that I have tried.

Even though thick in substance, the butter does sink into you skin immediately on application and it doesn't feel sticky or unpleasant to put clothes on soon after.

The Moringa butter had a very delicate fragrance which was floral but not at all overpowering.

Results

I found that my skin always feels lovely, soft and smooth throughout the day after using this. Although the smell isn't overpowering - it does linger on your skin for the rest of the day but as it's a pleasant aroma I really like this. Although if you were using some of the other varieties this might not be such a bonus.
It is fabulous on dry skin and the skin condition on my legs and feet since I started using this has much improved. Overall it has worked very, very well.

Conclusion

As mentioned previously the Body Butter is quite expensive compared to some other moisturizers - costing approx £4.85 for a 50ml tub and £12.50 for a 200ml tub. However I honestly think it is worth the price. My tub 200ml tub lasted about 8 weeks even though it was used as part of my daily routine and although the product stays fresh and usable for 12 months - I think people will enjoy using it so much it will never last this long!

There are many varieties available including Coconut, Cocoa, Strawberry, Satsuma, Aloe, Hemp, Shea, Vitamin E, Wild Cherry, Mango, Brazil Nut, Olive, Papaya, Grapefruit, Peach, Raspberry, Passion fruit, Almond and Pomegranate - although some of these can be seasonal. I haven't tried another variety yet - as I didn't want to spend a huge amount on one and find I didn't like it as much as Moringa - however I have made it clear to anyone that will listen that I do like the Body Butters and if they want to purchase me any type again I will be happy to try!

Some of the different varieties are also more helpful for specific skin conditions - for example Aloe and Vitamin E for sensitive skin and Cocoa for very, very dry skin.

I absolutely love this stuff and I love the way that it makes me skin feel after use. I am even getting up a bit earlier in the morning so that I have time to thoroughly apply this and give it time to soak in.

Believe me - it must be special if I will sacrifice sleepy time for it!

Summary: Worth getting up early for!
