Advantages: Smells wonderful, you feel great, smoothes and softens the skin
Disadvantages: expensive but can be overcome
Two months ago, I bought this as part of an offer. Buy the body butter (which I needed) and the body scrub and get the shower gel free. Being a fan of the passion fruit range, I thought hey why not try it? And once again, the body shop have not disappointed.
*The Body Shop*
The Body Shop supports many different causes from the cyclone crisis in Burma, to community trade, to using recycled plastic to package their goods. Buying the body shop goods make me feel good about myself, and I don't have to worry about a child slave making the goods I am purchasing for the sole profit of the owner. I was disgusted months ago by the newspaper article about gap clothing and it's just made me more determined to buy 'world friendly' products. I don't want to spend a fortune on something that is causing hurt and pain somewhere in the world. So buying from the body shop helps me support the causes they support.
*Why use a scrub?*
Scrubs, like the passion fruit scrub remove dead skin cells that are left on the skin's surface daily. By using kiwi seeds and corn cob granules, it gently removes the cells which are then washed away by rinsing with warm water. There are 5 different layers to skin, and each skin cycle lasts 28 days, from the basal layer which is full of living cells, to the horny (or clear layer where hair isn't present like on the soles of your feet) layer where the skin cells are dead with no nucleus and most of this layer can be removed through exfoliation. As a woman, summer fake tans are popular to prevent us looking like ghosts in skirts and shorts and are safer than sun beds or tanning in the sun. To gain an even cover of fake tan, women are supposed to exfoliate to remove these dead skin cells which make a fake tan look streaky and uneven. In the shower or bath, use this exfoliate scrub, then use the fake tan after drying fully. The scrub also makes skin feel smooth and soft which is nice feeling.
*The Body Shop Passion fruit body scrub*
This scrub is suitable for normal to dry skin and like all the passion fruit range, the passion fruit seed oil aims to moisturise skin. On the Body shop website, it promotes that with regular use, it can help tone and firm the skin when used two or three times a week. To use, rub in circular movements on the skin for about 30seconds to a minute and then rinse with clean warm water. The circular movements will also improve circulation to these areas.
The smell of the Passion fruit range is just wonderful and makes me want to eat it, because it smells fruity and delicious
This is good for my skin because I have combination skin; oily but dry on my face, oily under my arms (over-active glands) but dry skin everywhere else on my body. I tend to only use this scrub on my legs, the soles of my feet, my upper torso, and my bum and back about 2days a week. I also use this product with the shower gel and the body butter as well because my skin smells of passion fruit much longer than normal and I get the full effects of the soft and smooth skin. However, I haven't noticed my skin feeling toned but it has felt slightly firmer than it used to be but this could be due to exercising more recently, and I can't definitely say that it is due to the passion fruit scrub.
DO NOT USE ON THE FACE OR SENSITIVE AREAS!
*Overall*
Overall, I think this product is brilliant and I will continue to use this range from the body sho because it smells great, smoothes and softens my skin, and makes me feel great about using it, however it is slightly expensive. I recommend this highly but if there are offers on take it when you can, and get a love your body discount card because it does save you some money, especially on their promotion 20% off days.
