Advantages: Good value, smell, great effects on skin

Disadvantages: None

I'm a big fan of The Body Shop's range of body butters so when they had a 50 percent sale on a few weeks ago I took the oppurtunity to purchase a few that I hadn't tried before as well as stock up on my favourites.

Satsuma was one that I had never tried before - mainly because I thought that it may smell quite sickly/overlly sweet and citrussy. As it was half price though I thought I might as well try it and I'm really glad that I did - I can see why it's a best seller! It smells devine and makes my skin feel amazingly soft as well as really moisturised and well cared for.

This body butter retails at £12.50 per 200ml pot which does initially seem quite expensive, but I assure you that it is worth every penny due to the luxuirous quality - plus a little goes a long way, so it's pretty good value for money in my opinion. I managed to get mine for £6.25 which I'm pleased with and having tried it I would happily pay full price if I ever re-purchase it. This can be purchased in store or via The Body Shop's website and I'd recommend looking out for offers and sales as there are often some really good offers on the range of body butters.

The body butter comes in a round plastic pot which is a bright shade of light orange. The tub is plain but the screw-on lid has a label on it. The label has a simple picture of a satsuma and a leaf and there's a silver The Body Shop logo in the middle. The packaging is basic but attractive - it's nice and bright and girly. The tub is full to the brim with the thick, light orange body butter and as soon as the lid is unscrewed the smell hits you - it smells delicious and suprisingly natural! The scent is described as fresh by The Body Shop and I agree - it has that refreshing, uplifting summery kind of scent and it's sweet but not at all sickly due to the hint of citrus.

I find that this acts as a very subtle perfume and the lasting power of the smell is a few hours so you're essentially getting a perfume and a moisturiser! It does clash with perfumes so I usually don't apply this if I'm going somewhere nice and plan on wearing an expensive perfume as it'll clash, but I find that the scent is great on its own if I'm not wearing perfume. The texture of the 'butter' is lovely and thick and a small blob goes a long way. It spreads over my skin nicely and sinks in within no time. I usually apply a thin layer and I don't need to rub it in as it absorbs so quickly. I've got very dry skin so I was impressed by how little I need to use to see results.

It's nice and lightweight and doesn't feel like it's clogging up my skin at all. My skin always feels soft, smooth and nourished after applying this and I don't need to constantly reapply it either - my skin is left feeling moisturised all day long. No stickiness, greasiness or residue is left behind but the skin is left slightly shiny in a subtle, natural kind of way which I like. I usually apply this all over my body and find that it's very moisturising and if I get any dry patches I will use a bit of this on them and it soon sorts them out! The ingredients in this includes shea butter which is probably why it's so softening and it feels really luxurious.

The body butter's really gentle and I've not had any problems at all with it making my skin sore or red etc. Overall, recommended.

Summary: I love it!
