Advantages: Smells great, saves time and money, leaves your skin soft and your bathroom scented .

Disadvantages: Can't be used on more delicate areas .

Everyone that knows me knows that I love Body Shop products so they all thought that was the easiest way to shop for me when it came to Christmas and believe me you wont hear any complaints from me about it!

This is another of the genius gift ideas that I received on that day, Satsuma Body Polish.

Body polish is something I haven't tried before. I usually opt for shower gel and then exfoliate once a week. Ok that was a lie, once a week is stretching it a bit. We all do it don't we, mean to exfoliate once a week but then when you know you need to do it you're in a hurry, no time so you put it off. Then you soon turn around and think my skin feels awful and realise you haven't done it for three weeks or whatever. There is never enough time to do everything is there!

This product is a god send from that point of view and makes things a lot easier and there is no having to remember when to exfoliate any more, because I do it everyday instead!
Basically The Body Shops body polish is shower gel and body scrub combined but it is gentle enough to use every day. That means you have to spend no time on exfoliating any more!

The packaging makes it easy and convenient to use with a no mess less, hassle angle too. Body scrubs from The Body Shop come in screw top tubs that you have to scoop the scrub from which is then all under my nails and I then struggle getting the lid back on without getting water in it. This comes in a plastic squeezable tube with a flip top lid. The tube stands on the lid upside down so the body polish is always at the right end ready to use, so no shaking it about when it gets to the end and less waste.

The tube is orange coloured at the top but the rest is clear so you can see how much of the product is left. In design it is very simple which is good in a way because the product does the talking by showing through and it is a lovely bright orange colour with small dark flecks running through it.

With its simple white writing it shows the Body Shop logo, and says
SATSUMA
BODY POLISH
Gentle daily exfoliation and cleansing with zesty satsuma.
It then says the same in French with a small picture of Satsuma's underneath.

The back of the tube has much more information in much smaller writing, in several languages it says
With walnut shell and loofah to gently exfoliate and community trade honey to moisturise. Not for facial use. If product gets in eyes, rinse with clean water.
AGAINST ANIMAL TESTING
SUPPORT COMMUNITY TRADE

This costs £8.00 for a 200ml tube, that is two pounds more than 250ml of shower gel costs in the same range.

I tend to use this with a bath lily, I always use one no matter what I use. I have tried using this without and have found the exfoliating to be more effective with the lily. A tiny amount goes a long way and so using a lily is a better way of doing it all round.

This doesn't feel overly scratchy so isn't anywhere near as harsh as using a body scrub, hence being able to use it daily. It doesn't leave my skin feeling at all sore or irritated.

I do have a small patch of eczema on my arm and have not found that this causes me any issues.

For obvious reasons this polish cannot be used on more delicate areas, for that I use a normal shower gel, I am sure I don't need to explain why using this would be a bad idea!

After my shower I always feel extra clean, I always use body butter or lotion after a shower especially after I use body scrub. With this I don't feel dry or like I have to use it but still do out of choice rather than necessity.

The bathroom gets left filled with the scent of satsuma, which I love. Our bathroom doesn't have a window just a fan and even though the fan gets left on for ages after the scent always stays and for a long time too.

The scent of this is strong, certainly stimulates the senses and I enjoy it. It does leave my skin slightly scented but not overly so, however, I wouldn't want to use a cream that smelled of this. I have sniffed at all the Body Shop offerings over the years and this is a scent I love but I never buy the satsuma range because it is so strong and I wouldn't want to smell of it. Using this is one thing, the scent is washed away in the most part but putting on a lotion or body butter the scent would be much stronger on the skin and that just isn't for me, I want to smell of gorgeous perfume not of satsuma.

My skin feels great for using this everyday, no more waiting till it gets bad again before making the time to use body scrub for me! That said I will probably use scrub every so often to keep my skin super soft and treat myself, it is nice to feel pampered every now and again.

I use an epilator as my choice of hair removal, as you may know this method can cause ingrown hairs and a good way to help try and prevent that is to exfoliate. I suffer with ingrown hairs every so often but have found that this is not as regular an occurrence now that I use this.

My other half even uses this sometimes, he likes the scent and finds that on these dark mornings it is a nice way to wake up. The bonus for me isn't just a gorgeous smelling guy but that I know he has used it and can point it out, where he can't hide the smell in the bathroom!

This really does save time and as you only use as much of it as you would shower gel it does save a little money as you don't use body scrub as well although it is slightly more expensive than shower gel to buy.

Just so you know your choices The Body Shop sell body polish in the following scents Satsuma and Strawberry. Not as many as I thought they would. They are both £8.00.

In the satsuma range they offer, soap £2.50, body butter £5.00 or £12.00, body lotion £8.00, limited edition scented candle £7.00, bath and shower gel £6.00, lip balm £4.00, home fragrance oil £3.50, perfume oil £6.50, as well as a few gifts which range in price.

The body shop doesn't test on animals, has their own version of fair trade which they call community trade (the honey in this product is from Zambia and has been farmed using traditional methods.) so this is also god for your conscience as well as your skin.

The Body Shop has a great website, so if you want to find out about this or other products, find out where your local store is or to purchase where I have convinced you then take a look www.thebodyshop.co.uk

I will buy body polish again but I'm not sure if it will be this scent straight away when there are so many others The Body Shop has to offer. I certainly wouldn't complain if it ends up in my stocking again next year though!

I have the Strawberry version in my The Body Shop At Home kit as I am a consultant and it is being eyed up by both me and my other half!

Has to be five stars, I can't fault it enough to take one away!
