“ Brand: The Body Shop / Type: Massage Oil / Subcategory: Body Oil „
I have used the Body Shop Sensual Ylang Ylang Massage Oil many many times.....in fact, without doing into any details, it comes out to play most Friday nights! I have various massage oils I use, but I do tend to favour those manufactured by The Body Shop and Lush because of their ethical stance on cosmetics. A 150 ml bottle of this particular massage oil costs £10 and can be bought online or direct from a high street store.
The massage oil comes in a clear, yet tinted, plastic bottle - the style of which is typical to Body Shop products. Its not a stylish bottle - and the overall packaging is plain, but functional. It has a flip style top, which makes it easy to open even if your hands are all covered in the oil (screw tops can be a bit of a pain at times like that!). Because the sticker on the bottle is laminated, it is possible to wash the bottle under the tap when it inevitably becomes covered in the oil.
The oil itself is thick and rich - and feels very luxurious. When applying, its worth warming it up by rubbing it between your hands before applying it to the area to be massaged. It warms quickly....literally ten seconds and its warmed up sufficiently. The oil is the perfect consistency for massage, in as much as it is runny but thick enough to coat without being absorbed too quickly into the skin. Yes, it feels greasy, but part of being massaged is feeling the oil gradually being absorbed into your skin. If it absorbed too quickly, then the skin gets too dry, making massage more difficult. It also coats the skin adequately without running off and staining towels or bedsheets that are underneath the person being massaged. It always leaves my skin feeling soft, hydrated, supple - and most importantly, it leaves me feeling warm and relaxed.
The smell of the oil is delicious.....really delicious! I find it difficult to ascertain any of the individual aroma's of the product (I could cheat and look at the bottle), but suffice to say that it is exotic and spicy....with a very subtle floral hint running through it. I wouldn't say that the aroma was overtly male or female and, in this respect, it is suitable for either gender. Its worth noting that the aroma does persist for as long as 24 hours once its been massaged into the skin. Besides massage, I also love squirting a little bit of this into the bath for this very reason.
I have sensitive skin and yet this oil is gentle enough to not cause any adverse effects. Great value.
This is a fantastic product and I recommend it!
Yum!! My partner bought me this for christmas last year, Hint Hint i think so! And im not usually a fan of massage oils, i find they leave me feeling a bit greasy and just putting me on edge as i just want to go and wash but this is lovely!
It comes in a bottle which at first looks like glass, but is infact a semi transparent green plastic. It has a black lid at the top, which i have found gets very sticky if its not wiped down after every use! There is 150ml in each bottle, which is good as a little goes a long way! I have over half a botle left and i got it last christmas (OK maybe i need to be requesting more massages!)
The oil itself is nice to use, its quite similar in texture to baby oil as it sinks int the skin beautifully. For me personally the scent i9s very very strong, i assume this is the Ylang Ylang as this seems to be the main ingrediant, but i'm not sure as not a expert on essential oils! But this is ok as you don't need much product the smell isn't to overpowering.... Just don't take a huge whiff from the bottle!
Afte use your skin feels very very soft and what i was surprised at is how well it does restore moisture into the sin! You feel as if you have just walked out of a spa, which is lovely!
Overall i would say this is a good product and would suggest you give it a go! Sorry i can't advise how much it cost as it was a gift.
The Body Shop Sensual Ylang Ylang Massage Oil
Description: Brand: The Body Shop / Type: Massage Oil
I am sure that most of us like a nice massage, and myself and Mr Siamese are no exception. Okay, it may cause the occasional argument (it's my turn...no, it's MY turn! but it is usually a relaxing experience, and depending on the kind of oil used, can also be quite sensual, invigorating or sleep inducing.
I try quite a lot of massage products and am quite fond of the Lush massage bars, but these massage oils from the Body Shop are also a firm favourite of mine and definitely something I would recommend.
A 150ml bottle of this oil will cost you £10. It tends to last well as you don't need to use too much each time.
The oil is quite thick which makes it easy to apply without it spilling everywhere. It is worth remembering that it can be cold, so warm it first in your hands before slapping it to your loved one! The plastic bottle has a plastic snap shut lid with a small hole in the top, allowing just the right amount of oil to be dispensed.
Th oil has a lovely fragrance combining the ylang ylang (which is quite exotic and heady and very sexy) with hints of vanilla and undertones of citrus. The smell quickly relaxes you and helps you to feel chilled out and sensual. This is a great massage oil to get you in the mood, best applied by candlelight with a nice glass of wine!

If you are a fan of massage, or even if you just fancy giving it a try, then this massage oil is sure to impress you. I have never had an issue using it on my sensitive skin and consider it to be the perfect accompaniment to the perfect massage. Treat your loved one to some of this oil, then make them use it on you!
Although this is a very expensive product it really does 'exactly what it says on the tin'. The sensual massage oil is great for massages and the scent of the oil really relaxes you and also gets you in the mood for some perfect time with your partner. I used this on my partner recently and he seemed to love every minute of it. After a few drops of this massage oil he was relaxed. He seems to suffer with a lot of tension around his neck shoulders and the bottom of his back. However, this massage oil really did the job! You don't even need to use a great deal of the oil for it to kick in.
I think I would have to say that this is a brilliant investment and is relaxing for both men and women. It's brilliant for the art of massages and perfect with when using with a lover as it's kiss proof and doesn't taste horrible or feel funny on hands or lips.
I am very funny about oils as some of them feel really horrible on my skin and feel horrible to touch or use. However, this one is lovely; it smells divine and intriguing. Feels really nice to use. And does the job perfectly. I wouldn't have a bad thing to say about it (apart form the price! However, it's money well spent!).
Happy Massaging ;)
My husband spends all day on his feet and as a consequence I spend many evenings trying to soothe them and he also has other feet problems leaving him prone to problems.
Having run out of my usual foot oils I decided to give this a try - currently costing £10 for 150ml this does not work out as one of the cheapest oils but I have found you only need to use a very small amount so it does last longer than many.
I do appreciate this oil is marketed as a sensual one to arouse your senses and I have no doubt that for its main purpse as a massage oil it would "do the trick" so to speak.
The main ingrediants are oils and the sesame oil is sourced from Nigeria as part of the Body Shops ongoing comitment to community trade - for more information on this aspect please refer to their online website - thebodyshop.co.uk.
How I Use It
After my husband has soaked his feet to make them more supple - I use a foot spa for a more indulgent approach - I make sure the skin is dried and pour a small amount directly onto his feet - obviously most areas of the body can be massaged as well though! Then it is a case of gently massaging his feet to soothe away the aches and pains of the day and loosen any stiff muscles. I have also found this is a fantastic oil for the neck and shoulders. The oil is very concentrated and a very small amount goes a very long way - you don't need to keep topping it up and it really does make the whole "excersise" effortless.
The aroma is difficult to describe but it is quite heavy and slightly musky but very pleasant.
After finishing the massage my husbands feet are certainly softer, I make him put socks on after so the oils can carry on nourishing his feet without ruining the bedding with oily patches. When this is used as part of a body massage then a shower or equivalent before sleep is a good idea since the oil does transfer easily to linen.
Bottle Size: 150ml
Scent: Ylang ylang, vanilla
After a couple of years of marriage I decided to take the plunge into 'the art of massage', I shopped around to see what prices the oils sold at, and was put-off by The Body Shop's prices at first. I didn't quite understand why it was around 5 times the price of baby oil, but as it was nearing christmas and I had a offer of £5 discount I thought i'd give it a go.
The Scent - both my husband and I love the smell of this. It has a sweet floral smell. Without meaning to cause offence I would say that it has a hippy-smell (maybe the ylang ylang?)
Only a small amount is needed. After using enough for a 30 minute back, neck and shoulder massage I could hardly tell that i'd used anything out of the bottle. When giving a massage I found that my hands glided effortlessly acros the skin due to the silky nature of the oil. It leaves the skin (on massager and massagee) feeling soft and supple, and doesn't seem to leave as much of an oily residue as baby oil. It's also not as messy and doesn't tend to run as easily. The oil does sink into the skin nicely, meaning that any little excess can be wiped off with a towel. It didn't seem to stain any of my towels, however I would still be careful if using new fluffy white ones.
When the massage was reciprocated I enjoyed the smell of the oils and it had a calming effect on me, not sure i'd describe it as sensual though
My other half gets very tense shoulders because of his bad posture when at work sat In front of a PC, because of this his shoulders often cause him pain from being so knotted. To help relieve the pain and tension I will occasionally give him a massage. I find that without using a cream or oil it is a lot more difficult. Before buying this product I would use body lotion to make it as easy and pleasurable as possible.
I decided to get this to make massaging easier for me and better for my other half. At the time there were two others available but I liked the smell of this best. The others are lavender and mandarin.
The writing on the bottle says that it is to arouse body and mind that must mean it would be great for getting you both in the mood!
Although this bottle seems small at 100ml it will last a very long time as a little goes a long way. I have found that about the equivalent of a teaspoon full is enough for me to massage his shoulders and half way down his back.
This really does make massaging him easier for me as my fingers slide across the skin more easily and it isn't that oily that it feels like I am rubbing chip fat into him. He says it feels much nicer and that it makes the experience more relaxing where the movement of my hands has more flow to it.
We both love the scent, it is floral but not old granny flowers, it is sweet and powdery and really is beautiful. That said I don't think he would want to go out smelling of it!
He always has a shower after I give him a massage to wash it off, it isn't the type of thing you can just towel off. If you were to get amorous after (or during) using this then the sheets may end up a bit of a mess and need changing. I should also point out that this would damage condoms, as all oil based products do.
My other half's skin when he comes out of the shower after his massage always has baby soft skin on his back, far softer than when we have used any lotion for a massage.
At £7.00 this doesn't sound cheap but with how long it will last us, it is, I can't see us needing to replace it for a year if not longer. At the moment the website shows this as being on sale for £5.60.
This product is great and I can see us either buying this one again or trying the mandarin. I highly recommend you get it and give your loved one a treat!
The range contains other products too in all three scents so they really are worth a look.
I am going to give this five stars as it really is brilliant stuff!
The Body Shop has a great website (www.thebodyshop.co.uk) where you can find this and other products, buy online or just find your local store. The site also has lots of information and links about the charities and foundations they support and their version of Fair Trade, Community Trade.
