Advantages: Exfoliates really well

Disadvantages: Very oily and a little pricey

This Shea Body Scrub was brought for me as part of a Xmas gift set so not only did Ihave this to try but the body butter as well. This is made by The Body Shop so I knew that I had no problems with the products failing to meet expectations in terms of ingredients. The Body Shop doesn't test any of its products on animals and they support fair community trade.

This body scrub comes in a 200ml round tub with a screw cap making scooping the scrub out quite easy. The ingredients are:-

Octyl Palmitate (Emollient), Sodium Chloride (Salt) (Viscosity Modifier), Helianthus annuus (Sunflower Seed Oil) (Emollient), Sucrose (Depilatory Agent), Silica (Absorbent), Glycine soja (Soybean Oil) (Emollient/Skin Conditioner), Butyrospermum parkii (Shea Butter) (Emollient), Parfum (Fragrance), Phenoxyethanol (Preservative), Ricinus communis (Castor Oil) (Emollient), Tocopherol (Antioxidant), Linalool (Fragrance Ingredient), Coumarin (Fragrance Ingredient), Alpha-Isomethyl Ionone (Fragrance Ingredient), Limonene (Fragrance Ingredient), Butylphenyl Methylpropional (Fragrance Ingredient), Propylparaben (Preservative), Rosmarinus officinalis (Rosemary Extract) (Natural Additive), Citronellol (Fragrance Ingredient), Citral (Fragrance Ingredient), Geraniol (Fragrance Ingredient), Eugenol (Fragrance Ingredient), CI 77891 (Colour).

Price wise I didn't actually pay for this but I know that the 200ml tub is £12.20 but if you want a smaller tub to try you can get the 50ml tub for £4.85. This product is meant to be used as a body scrub whilst in the bath or shower. It uses salt grains and organic sugars exfoliate, moisturise and soften the skin.

Its pretty easy to use, all you do is scoop a small amount (I use an amount that fits in the palm of my hand) and then rub the scrub over your body in circular motions. What this does is scrub away all the dead skin and encourages good circulation.

I am now coming to the end of the pot so decided to give it a review. Overall I think the product performs in that it definately helped make my skin smoother. When I first used this I was taking a shower as opposed to a bath. The one downside (that I only discovered last night) is that when you use it in the bath it leaves an oily residue. This is down to the Shea butter and soya oil. I think this is a great scrub but I will only use whilst showering and not in the bath. It left me feeling.....kind of pink and tingly. Not the best description I know but it's the best I can do. I have also followed this up with the body butter which as a combination works very well. Whether I would want to shell out over 12 quid is something I am not sure about but as a present it's fantastic.

Summary: Not a bad product

Actually it wasn't 'just for the sake of it'. Some people who have allergies actually WANT to know what is in a product.

Please don't list the ingredients just for the sake of it :)
