Advantages: Soft Moisturised skin
Disadvantages: Price but then again the Body Shop are environmentally and human friendly
Ahh two months past Christmas, and I still have some strawberry body butter left….but am running out fast however. I received this strawberry body butter in a strawberry gift bag and so far this is the only thing I have used. It’s a 12m container and has 50ml of this divine strawberry body butter inside, fitting perfectly into any overnight bag when required. Like most girls, I get dry skin at times and so using this helps to prevented dead, flaky skin occurring especially with summer round the corner drying our skin up.
****The body shop****
The body shop may seem expensive, but support many causes. They support community trade, giving the farmers who produce the fruit or ingredients a fairer price for what they produce; the body shop are against testing their products on animals unlike some cosmetic companies; they support human rights, making sure that no child is used in the process to produce these goods, living wages are provided, conditions are safe and hygienic and so forth; they promote self esteem through beauty and always give brilliant advice in stores nationwide when needed, and always does as the product says on the packaging; and finally helps the environment, by using renewable sources when possible and to clear up the carbon emissions they may produce, they plant forests to help clear up. Recently the body shop has teamed up with the HIV charity, and produced a perfume with proceeds going to the staying alive foundation, and the body shop also has a campaign against violence in the home. The body shop has amazing products and is a safe, reliable and friendly company to buy from.
****What does it do? ****
Body butter helps to make your skin feel moisturised. After a woman shaves her underarms, legs or any other area it removes a layer of skin as well which can become dry and flaky over time. Rubbing a thin layer into the area after shaving, puts back the moisture lost. It helps to maintain the smoothness and prevents dead dry flaky skin. Each body butter works for different skin types, and this strawberry body butter is advised for normal skin.
****The smell and look of heaven****
As you can probably guess, this little tub of heaven smells sweetly of strawberries. It doesn’t smell sour, but it smells of sugar and strawberries. It smells so delicious it would be good enough to eat. When on my skin, I can’t generally smell it (especially with a cold right now) but according to my other half he can smell the strawberry smell on my skin for up to 2days which in my books is a five out of five for durability, and the strength of the smell. The look of this cream is a slight pink colour.
****How to use****
I advise that you use this after having a bath or shower, and find it soaks in better on damp skin, it also seems to last slightly longer this way.
1) Pat dripping skin to damp with a towel
2) Open the body butter lid and rub a small amount between the ends of your fingers for your underarms, or between the palm of your hands for your legs
3) Rub into skin and noticed the soft smooth supple difference of your skin.
****Tips and Tricks****
Use after every bath or shower to maintain the soft and smoothness.
In summer, to keep cool, place the container into a fridge for twenty minutes, or if you really dare into a freezer for 15minutes and use after a shower to give a cooling effect on your skin.
Body butter works miracles on dry flaky hands and puts back the moisture that work takes out.
****My Opinion****
Overall I find this a brilliant body butter to use. My skin has maintained it’s moisture, it smells heavenly and lasts about three months for a small tub, or for £12 the larger tub in 200ml lasts for about 8months, which isn’t a bad price for the softest skin around that smells like the Wimbledon season. Perfect for summer, and so far I haven’t seen a speck of dry skin anywhere on my legs.
Price: £12 for a large tub

- 08/03/07 The Body Shop's "ethics" no longer hold any sway with me since they sold out to L'Oreal. I don't see the point of being an ethical subsidiary of a rather unethical conglomerate like that! |
