Advantages: Delicious fragrance, helps exfoliate the skin

Disadvantages: Difficult to use with a sponge (see opinion)

Juice It is the name of a range of products within The Body Shop. The particular item I am reviewing is the Juice It Strawberry & Red Berries Exfoliating Body Wash.

According to the tube this body scrub is:
"a blend of natural juices, powdered walnut shell & rosehip oil to polish and smooth your skin".

The product comes in a squeezy tube, containing 150ml of the gel. The tube is tinted pink towards the top but becomes transparent towards the bottom where you can see the actual product inside. The tube stands upright on its black flip top lid. In contrast to the typical plain packaging of Body Shop products, the Juice It range of products have slightly different labels in that they show pictures of the fruits contained in them on the label, as opposed to the majority of Body Shop products which have a fairly plain label with only the product details and logo on.

The gel itself has the consistency of a typical shower gel, though obviously with being an exfoliator it contains little specks in it, which are the pieces of walnut shell that slough off the dead skin cells. The strawberry and red berries scented body scrub is almost the colour of a natural strawberry jam (i.e. one with no added colours to make it bright red). The fragrance hits you as soon as you flip the lid on the tube, and as with the majority of Body Shop products, the fruity fragrance is strong but natural smelling, though perhaps a little sweet?

To use the gel, the 'instructions' advise to lather up a small amount on a sponge and follow with one of the Juice It body milks. Personally I find that when using the product with a sponge, the walnut particles that are supposed to rub onto your skin to aid the exfoliation end up lost inside the sponge, therefore it's more like using a good quality shower gel. I find that applying this with your hands and working it into a lather has a much better exfoliating effect on your skin. The gel rinses off
easily leaving no gritty residue on your skin, and the skin feels smoother. The fragrance lingers for a while, but is not so over-powering that it is distinctly noticeable, nor would it overshadow the scent of a perfume for example if you were to apply one after showering using the body scrub.

The final part of the opinion has to be about whether it works and is actually worth it... well the answer is both yes and no. Although this product does help to exfoliate the skin, it only really has a mild exfoliating quality, therefore although it is suitable for regular / daily use, it is perhaps not the product you should go out and buy if you want to give your skin a really good exfoliation.

Unfortunately as this product was bought for me as part of a gift set I am not 100% certain about the price, though I would expect it to be in the region of £2.50 - £3.50. Although probably more than a standard own brand showergel from Boots or Tesco, the product is quite good value for money as a little goes quite a long way.

Things with Body in them are usually crap...the film 'Body of Evidence' the 'Body Zone' in the Dome, but strangely the Body SHop isn't. A mystery. Good op, strawberry is nice.

Sounds lovely, what a shame it doesn't exfoliate so well.
