“ Brand: The Body Shop / Type: Body Lotion / Subcategory: Lotion „
Every year at Christmas, and on my Birthday, I seem to receive a ton of scented products from people. Sometimes I just throw these products on a shelf in one of my bathroom cabinets and then forget about them for what feels like years. Recently I was packing up my bathroom and I noticed that I had over 100 products that had never been opened. I decided that I would stop buying my usual products and instead I would start using more of these products, something I had wanted to do before but failed at.
I believe I received this from my sister-in-law for Christmas last year and it came in one of those box shaped sets that seem very popular at Christmas time from The Body Shop. Looking online I can see that the 60ml strawberry puree body lotion I received usually retail for around £3. This, at first glance, seems a little expensive for a small bottle of body lotion, even compared to the spa brand products I usually buy myself.
This body lotion is a very light pink colour that is almost see through. It is quite a runny lotion, which put me off a little, even from the first use. This has quite a light strawberry scent to it that has an artificial scent that seems to linger, which is not very nice. I can detect the strawberries but there is another layer to this scent, that I can't really detect. The scent doesn't last on the skin, which I can only see as a positive really, and it doesn't linger in the air for long after use either. I can maybe detect a scent of strawberries for up to 30 minutes after use but I have to sniff against my skin, which isn't something I usually do!
With regards to my skin the lotion rubs on nicely and is absorbed quickly. A little goes a long way but it leaves my skin feeling sticky and horrible after use. I thought that the first time this happened that I might have got dressed a little too quickly but then I realised after another one or two uses that it is the lotion and nothing else causing this. My skin doesn't feel particularly moisturised by this and the stickiness is really off putting for me.
This body lotion doesn't cool my skin, doesn't moisturise my skin and makes my skin feel sticky and disgusting. My skin wasn't irritated by this, which surprises me really as I have sensitive skin. The bottle it comes in is functional, just about, not that I ended up getting to the bottom of the bottle anyway. The bottle has a flip top lid, on the 60ml version I had anyway, but it is a little hard to squeeze and I imagine it would be difficult to get to the bottom of the bottle.
I don't like to waste things but I recently threw this in the bin. I am rating it 1/5, only because 0/5 doesn't exist here, and I definitely do not recommend it. My skin didn't smell nice, it was sticky and it wasn't moisturised. I used a little of this so I don't know if the bottle would've been functional at the end, but I definitely wasn't going to find out. The thought was there when giving me this gift but gosh it was disgusting.
I always receive a tonne of gorgeous fragranced gifts at Christmas, and this year was no exception. I'm still currently working my way through the haul that I received! One of the gifts that I received was a small cube gift box from The Body Shop containing this Strawberry Puree Body Lotion and a Strawberry Shower Gel.
The bottles in my gift box were both small travel sizes at 60ml. A quick look on The Body Shop website tells me that a 60ml strawberry puree body lotion retails for £3, and a 250ml strawberry puree body lotion retails for £8. I have to say that I've hated the strawberry puree body lotion, but I did however love the strawberry shower gel.
The strawberry puree body lotion is a very pale pink colour, and it's opaque. The body lotion is quite a liquid and runny body lotion. This doesn't smell as intensely of strawberries as the shower gel does, I'd say that this has more of a 'strawberries and cream' fragrance. It's definitely not just strawberries, there's something else there too, maybe hence the name strawberry puree as opposed to just strawberry. Here's where the first disappointment came in, with the fragrance, or maybe I should say lack of. This does have a fairly strong 'strawberries and cream' fragrance in the bottle, however when I rub this into my skin the scent seems to disappear. It also seems to take away the lingering strawberry fragrance left on my skin from the shower gel. All I'm left with after applying the body lotion is literally a very faint hint of strawberries, and after an hour or so nothing.
So on to using the body lotion, it does rub into my skin fairly well, and I don't need to use much of it. However it does leave a slight sticky residue behind on my skin, and that's not using much of the lotion, I dread to think how sticky my skin would be if I used any more. It also doesn't seem to moisturise my skin, at all. I always feel like I need to apply more of the body lotion to moisturise my skin properly, or alternatively apply a different body lotion to do the job properly. This feels like it just sits on skin and doesn't penetrate at all, hence the sticky after feel, and the feeling that it hasn't moisturised my skin.
The bottle states that it provides lightweight cooling moisturisation, it's certainly a ''lightweight'' body lotion, it's rubbish. And I also can't say that it has any cooling effect whatsoever. It states that it's suitable for normal skin, my skin is fairly normal at the moment, certainly not dry, which may have explained why the body lotion wasn't meaty enough.
The body lotion comes in a clear bottle, which I like because you can then see how much you have left at a glance. The body lotion will stand on it's flat cap if you want to turn it upside down to enable you to get the last few bits out easily without having to shake or bang the bottle. The 250ml body lotion bottle does come with a pump dispenser, it's just the smaller 60ml travel bottle that comes with a flat top flip up cap. As my bottles are 60ml, and so suitable for carry on luggage I'm going to rinse them out and re-use them as I travel a lot.
Unfortunately I really can't recommend the strawberry puree body lotion, I thought that it was a massive let down, especially as it's actually quite expensive. I do think that Body Shop products are overpriced, but at least most of the products are good quality. This however was expensive, and poor quality.
I dont use moisturiser all the time as the only problem area i get with dry skin is a little around my nostrils and a bit by my eyebrows. Sometimes though when I have the luxury of a long shower or bath I like to rub in some of my moisturiser. It makes me feel like I'm treating myself and I particuarly like ones with a nice scent.
The first thing I'd say about this moisturiser is if you dislike sweet, somewhat sickly smells this is not for you. I however love the smell of strawberries and I enjoy sweet scents so its definitly a winner for me.
Even if you use this sparingly the smell is very strong and can sometimes seem to fill the room. The scent lasts a little while aswell, an hour after applying it one evening my boyfriend walked past and commented how i smelt nice followed by "mmmm strawberries"!. Giving it a smell now I'd say it more resembles the scent of strawberry icecream than strawberries themselves!
Concious wise as youd expect from a well respected brand the product isnt tested on animals.
I got a 60ml bottle, I believe it was in a gift set, you can purchase a 60ml bottle for £3 or an 250ml bottle for £8. Although to me this seems slightly pricey for a moisturiser I'll definitly buy more when I run out as I love the smell.
As a moisturiser itself I'd say it does the job, leaving skin feeling nice and soft. It isnt one that leaves skin feeling greasy which I hate (especially straight after a shower/bath!). It does absorb well into the skin and dries pretty quickly. But there ARE better moisturisers out there, as you can probably tell from me focusing more on the scent in this review I use it for the smell rather than the moisturising properties.
It does last quite a while as a little goes a long way. As I've said i dont always moisturise and I dont use the same one all the time either so I've had this bottle for about a year now but as you only need a small amount it can be quite long lastings.
If you havent used this before I'd reccomend going for a small bottle first time around as this smell can be a little too sickly for some!
In winter time, I go through lots of body lotions and moisturising creams as my skin is prone to getting dried up and sore. Last year when I was in The Body Shop, I decided to pick up this body lotion because I love strawberries and love most Body Shop products.
This lotion smells really nice, it is strawberry scented and the smell is quite sweet and strong. I can imagine that some people would get sick of this smell quite easily, however I love strawberries and only use this sparingly so I do not have a problem with the strong smell from it.
This lotion is rather light and does not feel as greasy as the Body Shop Strawberry Body Butter, however you still really only need a little bit of this at a time to get good results.
I usually just apply one or two squirts from the pump onto my hands and rub it in until it is absorbed.
I find that this lotion absorbs quite quickly into my hands and spreads evenly very easily. It is really easy to apply and when it is dried, it just leaves your skin soft and smelling lovely.
I quite like how my skin feels when I use this lotion. I do not notice results right away, but after a few days my hands feel much softer than before.
I have quite sensitive skin and sometimes get rashes on my hands, especially in winter, but this lotion definitely helps me keep sore hands at bay and makes my skin feel and look much healthier.
Price and Availability
You can buy a 60ml bottle of this from the Body Shop for £3 or a 250ml bottle for £8. I bought the 60ml bottle to try it, but I think that the next time I will buy the bigger bottle because it is better value and I really like this lotion.
I think that this is a great body lotion. It is light and non greasy but it gets to work fast to get rid of dry skin or just prevent it. If you use lots of this lotion however the smell can get really sickening, though when I use it sparingly I quite enjoy the sweet strawberry scent. Overall I would give this lotion 4 out of 5 stars.

I was given a 60ml bottle of this body lotion as part of a gift cube set from Body shop on Christmas 2011 - also containing a 60ml bottle of shower gel and a body scrub - the theme around the gift set was Strawberry.
I thought the gift set was a great little present - I love strawberry scents! As well as purchasing as a gift it is great for these who like to try sample sizes of the product before spending lots of money on it!
Today I will be giving you a bit more information on the strawberry body lotion in this set and my thoughts on it.
About the bottle and lid
The bottle is plastic and transparent in colour so you can see the lotion inside. The lid on the top is cloudy white in colour and can easily be clicked open using your thumb / finger nails. The lid is firm which gives you extra confidence there will be no spillage.
About the labels
The front label gives the well known body shop label in green font on the left hand side... Under this it gives you the product name which is "Strawberry Puree Body Lotion" - it then claims the lotion gives "lightweight cooling moisturisation for normal skin".
Under this it also gives the above translation in french.
You then have images along the bottle of the front label of strawberrys.
The back label also gives translations in other languages including German, Dutch, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese and Arabic.
Under this the label states that the Body shop is against animal testing and also gives further information on ingredients used which can be found at the following link on their website:
About the lotion
The lotion is squeezed out of the bottle very easily when full but when the lotion runs down it can be more difficult to get out... When the lotion goes out it has a "gooey" like texture but when this is rubbed into your skin it does water down and can be easily absorbed.
The colour of the lotion is a light peach-pink colour.
The smell of the lotion is definetly strawberry - and the exact smell reminds me of Hubba Bubba Strawberry chewing gum - its not overpowering but the smell is lovely and most will love it.
Generally I love body shop products to to the smell, quality and I love the fact that they have never tested any of their products on animals.
I first tried out this lotion about a week ago after jumping out of the bath - my skin has been feeling quite dry recently and I thought this product will help.
You just simply squeeze out of the bottle and apply to the area's where needed.
The main thing I love about this product is the smell - smells very sweet and eatable! As previously mentioned it reminds me of a Hubba Bubba chewing gum that I loved loads as a child and the smell takes me back there!
For me the lotion did not dry quick enough. I have only been using it on my arms and legs over the last couple of days but you do need to wait around 10 minutes before the drying process is finished - so don't try and dress in clothes straight after application.
It does tend to keep my skin soft but I am not noticing a huge difference with it - I have definetly tried better lotions before.
One thing I hate about the bottle is when the lotion starts running down it can be difficult to get the lotion out. However if you buy the large normal size bottle it comes with a squeeze pump - as you can see in the above picture - which will be lots better for extracting the lotion rather than having to squeeze it out of the bottle.
Due to the moisturising and drying problems I would recommend if you were going to buy this lotion it would be better used as a hand lotion in my opinion.
Price and availability
Currently the gift set I was given is selling on the body shop website for £6.00 for the cube - as previously stated this would make a great gift for anyone who likes strawberry and body shop products...
The full size Starwberry Puree body lotion in 250ml is on special offer on the body shop website reduced from £8 to £6 - so I think if you were to buy either now, you will be getting your moneys worth more from the 250ml bottle on its own.
If you decide to order from the website it will cost you £2.99 for standard delivery - it works out much cheaper if you go in one of their shops as they often have further reductions in price.
While I was shopping for Christmas presents this year I decided I'd like to treat myself and bought a few extra things as I visited The Body Shop. One of the items I purchased was a little gift set which included Strawberry bath gel, a mini shower puff and this Strawberry Puree Body Lotion. The lotion looked gorgeous and I couldn't wait to try it. I thought it would be the perfect compliment to the bath gel and some Strawberry Body Polish which I'd also bought.
The Body Shop usually sell this in larger bottles (250mls) but because mine came in a gift set it is only a 60ml sized bottle. The larger bottles also have a different design which is much more suited to the product. I'll talk about this issue later in the review! My bottle is transparent and is able to be recycled. It has a flip style lid which is easy to open and which clicks shut. It's very secure and I'd be happy to carry this around in a travel bag or handbag.
The Body Shop describe this product as being a "lightweight body lotion". It contains several high quality ingredients such as real strawberry seed oil, strawberry pulp and Fair Trade Shea Butter. The lotion is a baby pink colour and looks rather like blancmange in a bottle.
You can use this lotion all over the body but not on the face. To use you need to squeeze the bottle hard. Due to the extreme gooey gelatinous texture of the lotion it's difficult to dispense the product from this kind of bottle. When you tip up the bottle the lotion basically doesn't move so you have to shake it hard to get the lotion into the dispensing end of the bottle. Even then the lotion has a tendancy to bounce back into a ball shape at the far end of the bottle! On the regular bottles I see they have a pump dispenser and I would say this would be far easier to use! I therefore reccommend getting a full sized bottle of this rather than opt for the little giftset bottles as I did.
The lotion comes out rather unwillingly in little stiff globules and looks more like a cloudy jelly than a lotion. It feels quite wet and cold when I rub it into my skin and although it vanishes into the skin quite quickly it leaves a strange sticky residue in particular on my warm hands. This eventually dries up but after using this lotion I have noticed that if your hands get sweaty or wet with rain, for example, you feel that stickiness return.
There is no doubt that this lotion produces a softening effect on skin and the back of my hands are particularly transformed by the lotion. It creates a kind of smoothness to the extent that when I pass my fingers over my treated skin they seem to glide over a silky track.
The fragrance of the lotion is quite nice and is like fresh, ripe strawberries with no hint of any artificial fragrance. The smell is very foody and mouth watering but it is also reminiscent of summer months and of youth. I would perhaps say that teenagers might enjoy this fragrance a little more than older ladies since it is one of those natural, uncultivated sweet girly scents. The fragrance does stay on the skin for hours after application and is pleasing to me as I feel clean and sweet smelling.
Although the lotion does the job in as far as making my skin feel soft I don't think I would buy this again. This is mainly due to the fact that the lotion is so sticky whilst applying and shortly afterwards. It's really like smearing yourself in glue and waiting for it to dry. I also did not like the fact that ages after application if I get my hands wet they can go sticky again and I am unable to touch anything. There is no point in me suggesting washing your hands after use as this kind of defies the point of a body lotion.
I love that The Body Shop have an ethical approach to business and do not test their products on animals but I probably will not be buying this particular product again.
You can get the 250ml version for £8 in store or online.
The strawberry smell in The Body Shop is probably one of my favourite smells ever. They do such a lovely range of products in this smell and the latest one I have tried is the Strawberry puree body lotion. Just the name itself con jours up images of a beautiful aroma just good enough to eat. A strawberry puree is something I would feed up to my little girl or have with some ice cream so be able to rub it all over my body is pure heaven.
The body lotion comes in a nice pump action bottle so it is really easy to access and you can just press the pump out onto your hand and then run the lotion all over your body. The liquid inside is a light pink colour, quite a bit lighter than their regular strawberry products but I believe this is because it has been mashed up and pureed and is the same colour as you would achieve if you pureed your own actual strawberries. In fact there are actual strawberries in this lotion as some of the ingredients include strawberry seed oil and strawberry pulp. I think this is why is smells so absolutely delicious and good enough to eat.
THe lotion is described by The BOdy SHop as a lightweight lotion and I would definitely agree with that. It's funny before I first used it to me it looked quite heavy and just the name of a puree suggests that it should be quite thick but this lotion really does go on really lightly and smooths in well to my skin and does not make it feel heavy like some creams do. It leaves me feeling soft and smooth and of course really nice and smelly.
This lotion also contains community fair trade shea butter which according to the Body SHop website, "comes from the all-female Tungteiya Shea Butter Association of northern Ghana, which has 476 members from 10 villages. Trade has helped to fund three medical centres and 10 nursery schools. "
A 250ml bottle costs £8 and is one I definitely recommend.
After trying the strawberry shower gel, this caught my attention!
~Packaging and Appearance~
This body lotion is a peachy pink in colour, and comes in a small bottle (60ml) or a large bottle (250ml). The bottle is transparent, so you can see the lotion inside. On the front of the bottle is the title of the product and on the back is an ingredients list.
The lotion smells of strawberries, and like the strawberry showegel, smells a lot like Calpol. The lotion itself is quite thin - a lot thinner than the Body Shop Body Butters, so I assume that this moistutiser was for normal skin. I rubbed it into my dry areas, and they were moisturised for a while but then the effects of the cream wore off and the areas became dry again. However, this cream is quite thin, so I assume it's just to maintain moisture in the skin and not restore it in dry skin. The small bottle doesn't last very long either, so get the big bottle if you want it to last a decent amount of time.
The small bottle of this costs £3, which is rather a lot for the small amount, and the large bottle costs £8, which is very overpriced, especially when you take into account how much it has to offer for your skin.
On a recent trip to the Body Shop where I bought the Strawberry shower gel I decided would buy the body lotion to accompany it. It smelt lovely in the small bottle and as it was only small I decided it was worth paying for and giving it a go.
The body lotion comes in a small clear plastic bottle which allows you to see the light pink coloured liquid inside and it also means you know exactly how much of the lotion you have left. The lid to the bottle is also plastic and is a flip lid which means this is very simple to use. The lid can be screwed off but I would not advise this as you will get too much of the lotion coming out each use.
The front of the bottle has a label on which has the product name, the Body Shop logo on and at the bottom there is a small picture of some strawberries. The back of the bottle has all of the product ingredients on.
~~USE AND RESULTS~~
It is very simple to use the body lotion. The flip lid means you can easily pour out the liquid onto your free hand and close it again one handed. The liquid then just needs to be rubbed into the skin. The lotion is of a good consistency which means it is not overly thick so cannot be rubbed in or too runny which means it is going to run off your hands. The lotions is easily absorbed into the skin and leaves it soft and smooth. There is no greasiness from the lotion but I do personally wash my hands after applying it so as not to make my food taste when eating or cooking.
The smell to the lotion when it is in the bottle is lovely. It smells just like strawberries and is not too strong. This does change though when the lotion is used and with only using a small amount of the lotion the smell is very overpowering. I would not advise using this all over the body as the smell gets rather sickly when a lot is used. I do think this is good to use in the summer when you do not want to ware perfume as you can just rub this into the neck or wrists and the smell will last.
The effects on the skin are good and the skin is soft and smooth once this has been used, the feeling lasts for a good few hours on the skin. If using this on damp skin, straight after a bath or shower then I would use even less as it is slightly harder to massage into the skin. When using on dry skin it is easily absorbed and lasts for longer.
I have asked hubby to try this lotion despite being of a Strawberry scent as he has sensitive skin and he has had no problems or irritation from it. He has also had the same good effects and softer skin.
The bottle size which have is 60ml and I like this size as it means I can try the product out before paying for the larger size bottle. This small bottle is also an ideal size to take on holidays or for a weekend away.
The product ingredients for those wishing to know are:-
Aqua, Butyrospermum Parkii, Glycerin, Benzyl Alcohol, Coclopentasiloxane, Parfum, Phenoxyethanol, Sodium Carbomer, Cyclohexasiloxane, Helianthus Annuus Seed Oil, Carbomer, Fragaria Ananassa Seed Oil, Fragaria Vesca Fruit Extract, Glyceryl Acryl ate / Acrylic Acid Copolymer, Methylparaben, Magnesim Aluminium Silicate, Butyl Methoxydibenzoylmethane, Proylene Glycol, Butylparaben, Ethylparaben, Limonene, Propylparaben, Ispbutylparaben, Cinnamal, Citric Acid, CI 14700, CI 15985
The shelf life of the lotion once it has been opened is 12 months. The packaging is 100% recyclable and as with all Body Shop products this has not been tested on animals.
~~PRICE AND AVAILABLITY~~
This is a Body Shop product so can only be bought in their stores or from their online shop. The price for the 60ml bottle is £3 which I feel is slightly high. This can also be bought in a gift set with the shower gel and a body puff for £5 or a larger sized bottle for around £6.
I am undecided about this lotion as it is overly sweet if a lot is used. It has good effects on the skin, leaving it soft and moisturised so is good in that sense but the smell puts me off. I would recommended this but only in a small quantity. Buying the smaller bottle will mean you don't have to part with too much money to try this out for yourself. A 3 star product from me.
The Body Shop is a beauty company founded by Human Rights Activist, Anita Roddick. They believe in using natural products which aren't tested on animals and are suitable for use by vegetarians. They also support various charities and Fair Trade organisations. There are currently over 2500 stores in 60 places worldwide.
The Body Shop stock range is extensive with various body, bath and skincare treats for both male and females. They offer various different scented ranges to suit different tastes and have a wide range of gift sets suited to each scent.
One of the fruity scents available in The Body Shop is strawberry. This range includes various body treats as follows :
*Puree Body Lotion
There are various gift sets available containing the different strawberry scented goodies to compliment each other.
This review concentrates on the Strawberry Puree Body Lotion. This is a lightweight and non greasy lotion designed to instantly hydrate and moisturise the skin and leave it fresh and fruity. It is suitable for normal skin.
The full size bottle has a pump dispenser for ease of use. I have the trial sized bottle which is simply a clear plastic bottle with a flip off lid. There is a clear label runny around the bottle specifying the product name with a complimenting strawberry image. The ingredients and company blurb is also present.
The bottle can be recycled after use and should be used up within 12months of first opening.
It is recommended that you used this puree as a lightweight body moisturiser. If you have the full size bottle, pump a small amount onto the hand and massage onto the skin until absorbed fully. You can apply the matching body butter over the top for ultimate hydration.
I won't list the full ingredients but there are preservative parabens present. Strawberry seed oil is present for its moisturising and skin protecting properties. Strawberry pulp is included to smooth and product the skin. Shea Butter is a regular addition to Body Shop products and works to rapidly moisturise and protect the skin to keep it in tip top condition.

60ml @ £3.00
250ml @ £8.00
There is a gift set currently available with a 60ml puree and a 60ml shower gel for £3.00 making it an ideal gift or way to try this range.
I have tried quite a few Body Shop items and whilst some are ok, others haven't really impressed me too much. I find the products to be overpriced and aren't much better than regular, cheaper brands. I certainly cannot compare them to my beloved Soap and Glory! I really love some of the scent options that they offer and personally favour Papaya and Mango. Scents such as White Musk don't appeal to my nose!
I received a small Strawberry gift set a few months from my birthday and wasn't particularly jumping for joy but accepted it thankfully. It lay in my "spares" cupboard for a good while before I decided to open it. Now I adore strawberries and love a natural, refreshing scent. The reason I wasn't keen on trying this is that last year at college, a classmate smothered herself in the matching body butter and I had to move away from her as it gave me a headache..strong and so sweet that it was sickly. I hoped that this wouldn't be quite as overpowering.
My little bottle is ideal for taking away as are all the 60ml Body Shop offerings. Basic and easy to dispense the contents yet still sturdy not to burst if flung around in a toiletry bag. The lotion is a distinct, sweet pink colour and quite dull .The puree is aimed at those with normal skin however I have dry and sensitive skin but experienced no adverse reaction to this product. I decided to use this as an allover body moisturiser after my morning shower.
The puree is quite thick and gel like. I found it a tad too thick to dispense through the tiny hole in the bottle but I feel the pump dispenser would come in handy on the full size bottle. As soon as the puree hits my skin, it is instantly cooling which is very welcome after a hot shower. It spreads reasonably well but doesn't cover as large an area as a thin, body lotion would do. This results in me having to use more than anticipated. Once I start rubbing this into my skin, it immediately thins out and turns into an oily texture which sits on my skin despite massaging quite a bit. Certainly not one if I am in a rush!
The puree is lightweight as promised and refreshes the skin as it soaks in. Whilst the oily texture sits on my skin for a few minutes, it is only a tad sticky. It starts to absorb and I can feel it moisturising deep down into my skin relieving any dryness and soothing soreness. I find it to be good for my dry skin as it allows it to remain soft and supple for a good few hours. I don't think it lives up to some other body lotions I have used personally but it is efficient. Once fully soaked into my skin, there is no visible texture or layer apparent on my skin which is ideal.
The scent is the main concern for me. The initial scent on opening the bottle is sweet and very powerful. Strawberry scents can either be naturally sweet or artificially and this was the later. As I massaged the puree into my skin, the scent developed at an alarming pace and overwhelmed my nostrils with its distinct sweetness. Very much like the body butter but thankfully after the puree had fully soaked into my skin, the skin was more pleasant, light strawberry scent with a creamy tone reminding me of strawberries and cream in Majorca. I liked this scent as it was light and refreshing and sat nicely on my skin for a few hours but didn't overtake my perfume. After applying this puree, my bathroom remained lightly scented and it lingered for quite some time before seeping through the vent!
Although I quite liked this puree, I wouldn't go out my way to buy it for myself as I believe there are many more effective and better smelling products on the market and certainly more at a cheaper price. My little bottle has only lasted a few applications so not excellent value for money.
Thanks for reading!
I was in the Body Shop to get my £5 birthday reward for renewing my Love Your Body card, and was finding it really hard to pick something. However I then happened upon the travel-size products. I often go away for the weekend and like to take miniature toiletries, and thought some of these would be ideal for me.
One of the miniatures I chose was the Strawberry Puree body lotion. I chose it because I love strawberries, and also because I already had a miniature Strawberry Shower Gel at home, and I thought I could use the two together.
The lotion is described as being a cooling, refreshing, lightweight lotion which absorbs easily and is suitable for normal skin. My skin is slightly dry but I tend to use an ordinary body lotion for everyday and a more intensive one a few evenings a week, so I felt this would be fine. It is pale pink in colour and has a lovely, fresh, fruity strawberry scent.
You can buy this lotion in two sizes - a 60ml bottle for £3 (which is the one that I have) or a 250ml bottle for £8. If you use your Love Your Body card you can get another 10% off. Both bottles are clear plastic, so you can see the attractive-looking pink lotion inside, and also tell when it is about to run out. The smaller bottle has a normal flip-top lid, but the larger one has a pump dispenser which looks like it would make it very easy to get the lotion out. The label has the name of the product and a strawberry pattern, as well as a list of ingredients.
This strawberry body lotion contains strawberry seed oil, which is good for moisturising and protecting the skin. Also included is strawberry pulp, which smoothes and protects the skin. It must be the presence of real strawberries that makes the lotion smell so lovely! The shea butter in the product comes from the Tungteiya Women's Shea Butter Association, which produces Community Trade shea butter and helps these women from Ghana create a sustainable future for themselves.
When applying this lotion, I found that it was very light and sank in really easily. It is definitely a lighter body lotion, so not suitable for those with very dry skin, but for me it was a perfect daytime body lotion. My skin was strawberry-scented and overall it was a luxurious experience, simply because I knew I was putting bits of real strawberry on my skin!
I really like this body lotion and will be excited to take it away on holiday with me! I would also consider buying the larger version as it is so lovely. Body Shop products are expensive, but there are often special offers on and you get 10% off with a Love Your Body card. If you love strawberries I really recommend this!
I'm always using new body creams, lotions and potions so when I saw this on offer online I couldn't resist! They were 2 for £8, 2 for the price of 1, or half price each - however you want to name it. I bought the strawberry and the cherry but for now I will be writing about the strawberry variety!
The packaging states that it is a lightweight cooling moisturisation with strawberry pulp and sumptuous strawberry seed oil and that it is for normal skin.
The smell of this when it's still in the bottle to me smells like that paracetamol medicine I had when I was a child, strawberry flavoured - was it Calpol? Anyway, whilst this isn't necessarily a bad thing, it did surprise me as I didn't expect it to smell like a medicine in any form!
The pump dispenser is easy to use and even more so if you have problems with your hands/fingers due to something like arthritis as this takes a lot of the usual effort out of using a normal bottle for that kind of thing.
Upon application this lotion is very cooling, which is great for the summer at least on those days where the sun decides it will shine here in the UK, but also for summer holidays abroad where the weather is likely to me much nicer!
The lotion is of quite a thin consistency but this does mean that a little bit seems to go along way! It also means that it isn't instantly absorbed; it leaves a wet feeling on the skin for a little while after - unless of course you rub it in for a longer time. I kind of like this when it's warm as it feels cooler for a bit longer in this state but it is a little sticky.
The smell on the skin will vary from person to person, much like a perfume would but on my skin the medicine smell more or less disappears and I am left with a sweet strawberry smell which is actually quite nice, but doesn't seem to last long unfortunately - probably about an hour ish.
This lotion is meant to be instantly hydrating; but for me unless you count the wetness when you apply it, it doesn't really feel all that hydrating, or moisturising. It doesn't leave my skin really dry either though but I would suggest that if you have skin that is on the dry side that you may want to try the body butter instead. None the less I was quite surprised about this as I thought that the shea butter in that it would make it really quite moisturising.
I haven't noticed any long term benefits in using this lotion, but to the same degree I haven't noticed any massive deterioration in my skin since using it either. I probably wouldn't buy this again if I am honest though, and certainly not at full price.
Rather than not recommending it to anybody because of my experience of it on myself, I do recommend you get yourself into a body shop store to try this on your skin before purchasing it to make sure that it's going to work well on your skin type and that the scent is going to last a long enough time to make it worth you purchasing it.
I absolutely love body care products and lotions are not an exception. I always have several different kinds lying around and can never seem to stick to one for too long! I have used many bottles of The Body Shop's Strawberry Puree Body Lotion. The one I am currently using was a gift from my brother. I just used some on my legs and therefore thought I'd review it.
This product comes in a transparent plastic bottle with a pumping action dispenser. The product inside looks creamy and has a pinkish tinge to it. The packaging is simple, yet attractive.
When you pump the product onto your hand, you will notice that it has a slightly thinner consistency than other body lotions. You rub it into your skin and it disappears after a few seconds, leaving your skin feeling very soft and hydrated but not at all greasy. According to The Body Shop website, this product contains strawberry pulp which smoothes and protects the skin and strawberry seed oil which moisturises and also protects the skin. It also contains shea butter which is a fantastic moisturiser. I only need to use a little bit of this product as it is quite moisturising.
The only thing I don't like about this product is the scent. It smells very artificial and sweet (and even a little sickly), and not very much like strawberries in my opinion. The scent is very strong when it is first applied, but settles down and becomes more subtle after a little while. However, this is just a matter of opinion. On two separate occasions when I have used this lotion, I have been told by two different people that I smell good enough to eat.
It is expensive at £8 for a 250 ml bottle or £3 for a 60 ml bottle, but you only need to use a little so it lasts for quite some time and is thus, decent value for money.

People seem to be really treating me lately and most of the products that people have been treating me to are from The Bodyshop. Now I love products from this shop but unfortunately I cant afford them very often because some of the items they sell can be pretty expensive. I believe with this range though you are paying for quality so sometimes it is worth paying that little bit extra. However when you get to try out their products for free it is even better.
Price & Availability:
Obviously as this is a Bodyshop product it is only available in Bodyshop stores and online on their website. And I think the large bottle of this will cost you around £8.
This is exactly like a puree, well texture wise anyway. I expected it to have the same sort of consistency as a normal moisturiser but its not a thick and looks like it could be very greasy. It is a lovely pink colour even when you pump some onto your hands but it is a bit runny so careful you don't over pump!
Me Using It:
When you come to rubbing it into your skin it isn't runny at all and goes on exactly like moisturiser. It isn't greasy at all despite its appearance and it does sink into your skin really quickly. As soon as you apply this to your skin you can feel the softness and it is really refreshing sort of like a well needed drink for tired skin and my skin feels amazing after I have used this. I think this would work best on normal skin because I know I need something a little heavier and creamy for my dry skin but its great for just an everyday lotion.
I thought it might be worth mentioning the smell. Now the smells are the reason I like Bodyshop products so much because they all smell so divine (get me lol!) and this one was no different. The sweet scent of strawberries lingers on your skin for hours after this puree has sunk in but it doesnt work against any other perfumes you may be applying, in my experience the smells all compliment each other really well without being to overpowering.
I for one will definitely be going to buy another bottle of this when mine eventually runs out because I really liked it. If you have very dry skin then I think this wont be the answer to your prayers because I don't think it is creamy enough but if you have normal skin and your just looking for something that will refresh your skin and leave it proper soft then I suggest buying a bottle of this. The smell of this alone is enough to make me go running to buy it again because it is really sweet and doesnt smell chemical or synthetic at all.
Another smash hit from The Bodyshop

From: The Body Shop
For: Refreshing moisturisation for normal skins
The packaging is very clean and simple but high quality as with most Body Shop products. It's a clear plastic bottle so you can see easily how much you have left. It has a pump action dispenser on the top which is easy to use.
It's a very nice gel textured lotion which feels so light and refreshing on the skin. The scent is a very natural strawberry scent which is not too sweet or overpowering.
You don't need to use much of the puree at all as it spreads really nicely over the skin, and it sinks in really easily. It doesn't leave any greasiness or sticky residue behind and it doesn't feel heavy on the skin like normal lotions and creams can.
It leaves my skin feeling nicely refreshed as well as really soft and hydrated. It's not a rich moisturiser so for dry skin you would want something heavier, but it moisturises really well for normal skin which just needs a bit of re-hydrating. My skin is left soft, smooth and smelling lush.
All in all this is a fantastic moisturiser for normal skin.
Thumbs up from me.
Cooling and refreshing with fabulously fruity and juicy natural ingredients, this lotion absorbs easily to instantly hydrate and moisturise /
