The Body Shop Vineyard Peach Body Lotion
Advantages: Lovely, long lasting scent. Quick and easy to apply as it dries almost instantly. Makes skin soft.
Disadvantages: Only offers light hydration so not very good for dry skin.
I recently took advantage of a 40% discount code on The Body Shop's website to buy a few Christmas presents and, this being The Body Shop, couldn't resist treating myself to a few items too. I've been eyeing up the new Vineyard Peach collection since it came out and decided, seems as I would be getting the items are a decent discounted price, I would try a few.
One of the items I decided to go for was this body lotion. I opted to try the body scrub to use in the bath and shower and thought the lotion would be nice to layer the scent after washing. I do usually go for body butters but I thought as the lotion was cheaper I'd give that a try instead.
This body lotion is available from The Body Shop's website and high street stores costing £8 for a 250ml bottle. This, I feel, is an acceptable price to pay for such a product given The Body Shop's butters and lotions are always of such high quality but being able to get it for £4.80 using my discount code made it an even better deal!
The lotion comes in a clear recycled plastic bottle with push down nozzle to dispense the product. The clear bottle allows you to easily see the pale pink lotion inside. On the front is a picture of a peach with The Body Shop's logo placed in the centre along with product name and description which states this is made 'with peach extract and vineyard peach fragrance.' The back of the bottle contains the full ingredients list as well as informing us this is made with community fair trade shea butter and organic Brazil nut oil. The bottle does look very delicate and feminine and is certainly one I can proudly display in my bedroom.
To dispense the body lotion you simply press down in the pump action nozzle which release a little of the product. I find one squirt gives me enough to do one arm and I need two squirts for a leg. The bottle will certainly last a few months even with very regular use making the price appear more appealing.
The consistency of the lotion is just right in my opinion. I am more used to body butters which are obviously a lot thicker and creamier than body lotions and I result I do sometimes find lotion to be too runny. This one however is not and, although it's runny enough to easily be dispensed through the nozzle of the bottle it's thick enough to not to budge when I flip my hand upside down with a bit of this in my palm.
This lotion absorbs into my skin perfectly and dries almost immediately meaning there's not waiting around to get dressed after moisturising when using this. The moment I rub this in it instantly melts into my skin giving it a little hydration and leaving it feeling very soft.
Upon rubbing this into my skin the scent of the lotion is revealed. It's a very subtle, delicate scent which does smell just like peaches but in a very natural way rather than artificially so. Whilst it is a subtle and light fragrance it is still easily detectable and long lasting, with the scent lingering on my skin for around three or four hours.
Just like the scent, the lotion itself is very lightweight too. It won't leave you feeling as though you have any residue left on your skin and is perfect for just quickly adding a little hydration and scent to this skin leaving me to complete my evening body care routine.
As the cold weather has arrived which always dries my skin up I am using this lotion in conjunction with a thicker and heavier body butter, as lovely as this product is I really don't feel as though as it gives enough hydration to winter skin and if you do suffer with particularly dry skin you'd probably get on better with the body butter version.
Personally I feel this product has been bought out at the wrong time of year as I feel it is much more suited for summer. The scent, although absolutely beautiful and one I will happily wear whenever, is a more summery scent and the lightweight lotion is probably better for the warmer months as my skin doesn't need as much hydration and it doesn't sit heavily on my skin (I do find on very warm nights if I've applied body butter I tend to sweat it off and I just feel constantly wet, lotion would be much better at that time of year I think).
So, whilst I do really like this body lotion and am happy with my purchase, I think I'll go for the butter when I run out. This is great if you're skin is already quite hydrated and you just want to soften and scent it but if you do have thirsty skin then this probably won't help you very much in that department!
Summary: A lovely product providing your skin isn't too thirsty.
