The product I am reviewing is Vitamin E Body Lotion purchased from The Body Shop. This product is part of the Vitamin E range. The Vitamin E skincare range has apparently been loved since 1977. If you are concerned about the damaging effects of the environment on your skin, the Vitamin E range can help to protect against pollution, cigarette smoke and UVA/UVB rays. This range of products is suitable for all skin types and help to protect the skin from premature ageing. This lightweight body lotion with vitamin E hydrates and protects the skin leaving it smooth and moisturised. It's easily absorbed to leave skin feeling soft and smooth. During the winter and colder my months, I find that my skin often feels and looks a little dry. Although I normally use a body butter to moisturise my skin I wanted something quicker and easy to apply which is why I decided to look for a lotion. I already use a number of products in the Vitamin E range which I have been really impressed by, which is why I wanted to try the body lotion. I also want to try the Body Butter in this range, how-ever I would purchase that another time. As the other products in this range have been good, I did expect this to be good as well and did expect good results from using it. The lotion comes in a plastic bottle which is a light pink colour which matches the coloured packaging of the other products in the range. The packaging is very simple and clearly states on the front what the product is. On the back of the bottle it tells you a little about the product, such as how to use it and it also lists the ingredients. The bottle has a flip top which flips back to reveal a small hole in which the lotion dispenses out of. The lid stays attached to the bottle so you can easy flip it back to close it again after use.

After getting out of the bath and patting my skin dry I got ready to apply the lotion. In the colder/winter months my skin can feel and look a little dry so I was hoping that this lotion would help nourish and moisturise my skin. I sprained my ankle about 6wks ago and have been wearing a support bandage for 6 weeks (take it off at night) to help support the ankle until it's fully recovered. This particular ankle and foot has become a little dry from wearing the support bandage so I was hoping that the lotion would help the dry skin in this area as well. I flipped open the lid to the lotion and held it upside down and squeezed the bottle a little to dispense some of the lotion into the palm of my hand. I didn't need to squeeze the bottle too hard in order to get some of the lotion out. The lotion isn't too thick but at the same time isn't too runny either. The lotion is a nice pale pink colour and looks slightly glossy as well. I applied to the lotion to my skin ensuring that I rubbed it in well. The lotion felt slightly cold against my skin but also silky and it was very easy to rub in. I found that you only need a little of the lotion for each area of the body. The lotion has a nice, light scent to it which I found really pleasant. The lotion didn't take too long to soak into my skin which means I was able to get dressed shortly after applying it and get into bed. The scent of the lotion gave my skin a nice, light fragrance which was nice; however I wondered how long this would actually last.

When waking up the following morning, I noticed that the scent of the lotion could no longer be smelt which was a little disappointing as it's a nice scent to have lingering on your skin for a while. My skin felt extremely smooth and soft, much softer than it was if I hadn't used a lotion or had used a different brand of lotion such as Dove or Nivea. Because my skin felt smooth and soft it made me feel confident. My skin looked moisturised and it looked healthy. The slightly dry skin on my foot and part of my leg from the support bandage also felt much better and it definitely didn't look as dry as it previously did. I have continued to use the product daily and have definitely noticed that my skin has become much softer and smoother than what it normally is. Obviously this is through regular use of the product. Although I find body butters from The Body Shop very moisturising, I like this as it's slightly quicker to apply and does leave my skin feeling as smooth and soft as body butter would.

As I use quite a few other products in the Vitamin E range I did have high hopes of this product and expected to see good results from it. I am glad that I wasn't disappointed by it and was very pleased with the results. As this product is a lotion I do find it quicker to apply than body butter and it's also easy to apply due to the silky smooth consistency of the lotion. The lotion feels silky against my skin and I love the nice, light fragrance that the product has. I sometimes use a Dove moisturiser and I find that the Vitamin E lotion leaves my skin feeling smoother and softer than the Dove lotion does. In terms of value the product is a lot more expensive than other moisturisers; how-ever as it keeps my skin feeling soft and smooth and also looking great I don't mind spending this much money on the lotion. I do always stock up on Body Shop products when there are online offers. I save myself a lot of money doing it this way. I will definitely be purchasing this product again and I now also want to try the Vitamin E Body Butter in this range. I definitely recommend this product as it's a great moisturiser for your skin whether you want to keep it looking and feeling great or want to help slightly dry skin then this product is brilliant. I say that the product can help slightly dry skin as I don't think it would help very dry skin such as cases of eczema.

I bought this body lotion a few months ago when the body shop had a promotion on which meant I got it a little cheaper than the full retail price, which is £8 for 250ml.
The promotion was on all of the body lotions and body butters and I chose this one because it is part of the vitamin e skin care range. I already had several products from this range and really liked them so didn't hesitate to buy this really. The body lotion comes in a similar bottle to the cleanser and toner as it is a similar shape and identical colour-wise, but it is a lot wider and I like that it comes in a bottle rather than a tub.
The bottle has a flip top lid and it is quite easy to squeeze so getting the lotion out is fuss free. The lotion itself is white, quite thick for a lotion but still pretty light and it has a fresh, gentle perfume kind of smell to it which smells slightly 'soapy' but in a nice way. The smell is quite feminine in my opinion. The body lotions thicker than most of my other body lotions and I have found that it does ended to be really rubbed into my skin else it just sits on my skin and does not absorb, but as long as I rub it in thoroughly it absorbs.
It does leave my skin feeling a little greasy and wet and it also leaves it looking quite greasy, but the wet/greasy feeling subsides after a few minutes and the shine is not as noticeable after a few more minutes. The lotion is not moisturising enough for me but it does give my skin a little boost of moisture and I tend to use it on the normal areas of my skin rather than the really dry areas as on the normal areas that aren't really dry it is moisturising enough and it makes my skin feel refreshed, smooth and soft.
I would definitely recommend this lotion but I will not buy it again purely because it is not moisturising enough for me personally and it does not leave my dry patches of skin feeling or looking much better. If my skin ever improves and becomes a lot less dry then I wouldn't hesitate to re-purchase it though.
Four out of five stars.
I was lucky enough to receive a set of miniature bottles of lotions, creams and gels from the Body Shop as a gift. Amongst the set was this Vitamin E lotion and I have just finished using it. It was not one of the first from the set that I chose to use as I prefer creams and lotions with a specific fragrance and the Body Shop has a lot of gorgeous fragrance ranges to choose from.
The lotion is available to purchase in the Body Shop for £8 for a bottle of 250ml (although I would recommend waiting for a sales event when you are likely to get better value). It comes in a rounded plastic bottle with a flip lid - standard packaging for Body Shop lotions and gels. Vitamin E is notoriously good for your skin - it is an antioxidant that protects and repairs your skin.
The lotion is a light pink in colour and creamy but not overly thick in texture. It has a clean and fresh scent to it but no overly distinctive smell. It is perfectly pleasant but I prefer more perfumed lotions personally. On my skin it feels cool on application and is very quickly absorbed into my skin. It leaves my skin feeling moisturised and not at all greasy to the touch. It dries quickly so I am able to apply after a shower and get dressed very quickly after applying. The scent on my skin is light but fades rapidly. After frequent use, my skin did feel in very good condition. It was particularly good for my patches of dry skin as well as naturally drier areas such an my knees and elbows. I did find that I did use quite a bit per application as it does absorb so quickly into the skin, therefore I would not find a bottle at full price particularly good value for money, although I would purchase it if I found it on a good offer purely for the positive effect it has had on my dry patches of skin. As with most Body Shop products, it is of good quality but fairly pricey. For me, the lotion could be improved with a stronger fragrance although that is personal opinion as some people prefer a lighter fragrance like this one.
The Body Shop is such a huge brand. I absolutely adore a lot of their products, but I do tend to wait until they are on special offer as I feel they are over priced. They tend to have special offers quite regularly, so I just save up until then and they a bulk of new products to try and then review!
I bought the vitamin E body lotion when there was a buy one get one half price offer on the Vitamin E range. However the full price is £8.00 for 200ml. This is a lot of money for the body lotion, and to me it does not offer good value for money.
The body lotion comes in a short squat plastic bottle. The bottle is quite hard and not easily squeezed. It has a round flip on and off lid on the top with a small hole which the lotion drizzles out of. The easiest way to dispense it is to hold it upside down and drizzle it onto the desired areas.
The lotion has the familiar vitamin E scent, although in this case it is a lot stronger than a lot of other products and to be honest I don't like this scent. I find it too much in this case and to me it just smells like old cheap moisturiser, but that is just my opinion.
The cream itself is reasonably good at moisturising. After a few uses it leaves my skin soft to the touch without being shiney. The cream is more watery than oily, so it is nice and easy to rub in. It doesn't leave your hands feeling horrible either.
This cream is OK-it does a good job, but it is not fantastic or a product I would buy again. There are so many other good moisturisers out there, that this one is one I won't be visiting again.
I'm not good with body lotions, I'm always forgetting to use them (or I'm just lazy) but in a futile effort to be a good girl I keep buying and trying new ones.
This Body Shop product is one I go back to time and time again for many reasons:
This comes in the traditional Body Shop stubby little curvy bottle with a flip cap that also unscrews if you just want to get at more product!. the lael is clearly written in both English and French and includes a full ingredients list on the back and the cosmetic label for 12 months to indicate how long it lasts.
Its quite a thin body lotion, but its definitely rich too. Its packed with vitamin e extracted from wheatgerm - a great natural source. Its pale pink in colour, perfect for the girly girl pampering that I enjoy and it has a gorgeous smell - somewhere between baby lotion and marshmallows - really sweet but also seductive in a funny way. The smell could be off putting at first but it doesn't last too long.
I use this after bathing or showering when I need to get dressed quickly afterwards. I dispense a walnut sized amount of the product into my hands and massage into west skin, concentrating on the usual dry areas of elbows, knees etc.
Its definitely moisturisng, but light and easily absorbed. I prefer a stronger product usually as I am so infrequent at using body lotions but it is moisturising and it smells lovely.
Vitamin E - definitely one of the best ranges in my opinion. I have always been worried about using creams that I have never tried before and notiiced that the Vit E range is for all skin types. One of the girls that worked there also gave me a sample so as to make sure I felt comfortable with using the lotion before buying it. Everyone has different types of skin and mine recently has been quite dry (probably because of the weather) BUT after a week of using the Vit E body lotion on my legs (in-particular) my dry skin is no longer an issue. I've been using it for 2 weeks now and it has helped me sooo much. I have yet to buy the other Vitamin E products but they seem to cost more than I want to pay. The body lotion cost me about £7 but has solved my problem and in my opinion it was well worth the money. The fragrance reminds me of being on holiday. Nothing special but smells anything but bad. Test it before you buy it if you don't believe me!
I love the Body Shop and in particular the Vitamin E products as it seems to work really well for my skin. Unfortunately i can't rave so much about this body lotion. According to the body shop it also contains wheat germ oil which is supposed to be another top moisturiser and glycerin too - another ingredient that should lock in moisture. The vitamin E range is easily identifiable with it's pink packaging and delicate smell. This product comes in a 250ml tub which does last a long time which is probably because i have used it about twic e- in fact i only use it when i've run out of something else to use! It also has a very liquidy consistency and although it's easily absorbed my skin really doesn't feel moisturised after using it. It's a shame as the body butter is quite nice and thick but i agree with other reviewers that the smell of this does seem a bit more chemical like that the other vitamin e products which just have a delicate feminine smell in my opinion.
**** Introduction ****
After recently getting many new products for hosting a body shop party, I decided that I would stock up on the Vitamin E range as this is the only body shop range that I have purchased religiously over the years.
As I suffer from really dry skin that can crack and peel very easily I try to hydrate it using body lotions, but I can struggle to find a suitable one as my skin can be very sensitive.
For the last few years I have been using this body shop vitamin E body lotion, since using this my skin has been much softer and smoother so I now swear by the product.
**** The Body Lotion ****
This comes in a 200ml light pink bottle, with a flip top cap that allows small amounts of lotion to be squeezed from the bottle at a time. This makes it easy to squeeze a lump of lotion in to my hand before applying it to my skin.
This can be really cold on my skin so I tend to warm the cream up in my hands before applying it to my dry areas, I find that the lotion absorbs a lot quicker if it is warmer.
This has a soft floral scent to it that can only be associated with a baby smell, that is soft and delicate. After the cream has been absorbed this delicate smell lingers for awhile making you smell and feel nice and refreshed.
You can buy this from the body shop for 8.00 a bottle, which is expensive but if you suffer from sensitive skin, you will know that this is reasonable as some creams can very very expensive for sensitive skin types.
**** My Views ****
I will always use this lotion as it is the only thing that does not cause my skin to dry out or irritate, which is brilliant as every other lotion I have tried in the past always irritated me.
I love that is absorbs into my skin easily making my skin feel instantly refreshed and smooth.
I have to recommend this to anyone as it can be used on all skin types, but for anyone with highly sensitive skin this is a certain must in my book.
I must say I have tried some Vitamin E products from the Body Shop for the face but not for the body. Vitamin E is an ingredient used fom wheatgerm. Vitamin E is an antioxidant which protects the skin and body from free radicals ie pollution, smoking and the sun. Antioxidants have been proven to protect against cancer.
Using the product, it was easy to apply. The lid is a flip cap so it pours easily. I like the smell of the lotion but I found it quite watery. The product itself reminds me of an aftersun lotion very light. The lotion sinks into the skin easily but it didn't have a lasting effect.
The packaging is in typical Body Shop packaging, plain and simple. The bottle is made of recycled plastic and is weighted so it feels like a good quality product. It is in the same colour as all the Vitamin E products so they are easily identifyable.
Overall I wasn't impressed with this product. I feel the face products of this range are a lot better quality.
Vitamin E Body Lotion is a moisturising body lotion from The Body Shop which contains wheat germ oil. It is this wheat germ oil which provides the Vitamin E, an antioxidant which protects the skin. The product comes from a range of Vitamin E products including facial moisturisers, cleansers, soaps, facial washes and lip balms. All the products are fairly well priced, not very cheap but not expensive either.
The product comes in a variety of sizes. The one I had was a small 60ml travel size from a gift set but it also comes in a 250ml size. The 250ml bottle retails at £8. You can buy online or in store.
The bottle is made of recyclable plastic bottle with a screw cap. The lotion is a creamy white although at first glance you think it's a pale pink colour because the bottle is pale pink. The lotion is a moderate to thin consistency and is easily and quickly absorbed into the skin leaving your skin feeling soft and smooth.
The smell is quite strange, its difficult to describe but I assume it is from the wheatgerm. It is not necessarily an unpleasant smell but at the same time its not what I would choose for a product to rub into my skin. I think the scent is what lets this product down, if they could improve the smell then it would make the product so much better.
The ingredient list as usual is quite long it does contain perfume, parabens and alcohol. The product is not tested on animals.
So what did I think? Well to be honest it's a little disappointing. I would have preferred a much thicker lotion and certainly one with a much nicer smell. It does leave your skin feeling soft but there are so many more products that do the same job and will also leave your skin smelling so much nicer. Having said all that my dog seemed to like it as he licked it off my arm as I was writing this review! My advice though is to give this one a miss and find something that smells a bit nicer. It certainly doesn't seem to be one of the Body Shops finer products.
