White musk from The Body Shop has been a favourite of mine for many years. Although not all that cheap anymore it is still a lot cheaper than designer perfumes and makes for a great daily scent. One of the best ways to wear it is by layering all the white musk products in the range which will leave you smelling lovely all day long.
The voluptuous velvet body crème costs £12 and comes in a 200ml tub similar to those that body butters come in. The crème is unlike body butter though in that it isn't as solid and has a much creamier look and feel to it.
The crème is heavily scented and you can smell it as soon as you unscrew the lid. It smells slightly less musky than the perfume and has a sweeter scent to it but when used in combination with the other white musk products it really helps to scent my skin fabulously for the whole day and actually intensifies the smell of the musk.
As a moisturiser the crème is amazing and it leaves my skin feeling so soft and conditioned. It is quite thick so I only need a little otherwise it can feel too heavy on my skin and a little greasy. I do find that it takes a little time to be absorbed properly but when I have rubbed it in completely the greasiness goes away and instead I am left with a lovely silky feeling instead with no tacky sticky feeling.
Apparently this crème also contains lily, rose, vanilla and iris but I struggle to notice these scents and they certainly don't overpower the musk. As I mentioned it is a little sweeter and less intense than the perfume but this is exactly what I would want from a body moisturiser so for me this is a good thing.
I do think that £12 is quite expensive for a body moisturiser but The body Shop uses such good ingredients and makes such good products that it is worth it. The tub lasts me for absolutely ages and leaves my skin feeling and looking lovely.
Over the past few days I have been discussing my experience with using a delightfully fragranced range of products from The Body Shop. I'm a huge fan of their White Musk, particularly as it delivers a very sensual aroma, which I associate with pure luxury. Ever since my teenage years I have enjoyed purchasing and using different brands of toiletries and this is probably the area where I spend most of my hard earned cash. The product I am reviewing today is their Voluptuous Velvet Body Crème, which can be described as upmarket and opulent.
APPEARANCE OF THE PRODUCT
Unlike the other products within the range, namely the shower gel, body lotion and dusting body powder, the opaque plastic packaging is coloured white as opposed to a pale shade of lilac. We are provided with 200ml of crème in an extremely eye-catching fairly flat circular tub with an easy to open screw top lid. I provided an image to Dooyoo, but unfortunately, they have failed to use it, which is a shame, as the packaging is a little different to any other creme that I have used. The appearance of the product is very eye-catching, particularly as The Body Shop have used minimal text, which simply provides us with the name of the product.
USING VOLUPTUOUS VELVET BODY CRÈME
As soon as I unscrew the lid I am met with the most stunning aroma of musk and am able to witness the pearly white swirls of luxurious extra rich crème. The consistency is fairly thick and I scoop out a small amount, which is easily applied and rapidly absorbed into my skin whilst offering a cool and wonderfully comforting sensation. In addition to the delightful musk mallow fragrance, the crème is infused with notes of lily, rose, iris and vanilla. However, I am not a fan of the aroma of vanilla and will avoid it at all costs, but it is totally undetectable in this crème and therefore, extremely favourable where I am concerned. As crèmes deliver more intense results as opposed to lotions, I prefer to use them before bedtime to enable them to work their magic and fully hydrate my skin whilst I'm in the land of nod.
As I have looked after my skin for as long as I can possibly remember it is in tip-top condition and feels silky soft and smooth, but I only have to omit using moisturising products for a couple of days for its' condition to swiftly change. However, whilst I religiously use crèmes and lotions on a daily basis I am still prone to rough skin patches on areas such as my elbows, knees and the undersides of my feet. Consequently, I need a more powerful product to offer additional hydrating properties. Voluptuous Velvet Body Crème ticks all the boxes for me because as well as delivering superb and fast acting results due to its' moisturising Community Fair Trade ingredients of sesame seed oil, cocoa butter, shea butter and organic olive oil, it offers its' delicate musk mallow aroma, which lingers on my skin's surface for many hours following use. The results of the powerful crème are evident following just one use, as any areas of dry skin are instantly hydrated, but it is necessary to use regularly to achieve long term results.
If you are familiar with my reviews you will be aware that I favour layering my fragrances, which in addition to prolonging the fragrance, enables the musk to become slightly more evident. Consequently, I will begin my pampering experience with the shower gel and/or cleansing bar, followed by the body duster powder and concluding with either the matching lotion of body crème. This is an extremely luxurious range of products and as I am sure you will have guessed by now, White Musk Voluptuous Body Creme comes will my full recommendation and consequently, receives 5 stars from me.
INGREDIENTS AND OTHER INFORMATION
The list of ingredients is somewhat overwhelming and can either by located on The Body Shop website or on the peel back label located on the underside of the tub. Whilst I have not counted each and every one of them, at first glance I would guess that this crème contains in the region of 60+ ingredients, which for obvious reasons have not been copied into this review. The crème should be used within 12 months of opening and the tub can be recycled once empty. However, I find the empty tubs extremely handy for storing my dozens of pairs of earrings.
PRICE AND AVAILABILITY
The crème is only available in one sized tub, namely 200 ml and will cost you £12. However, there are always deals to be found online where The Body Shop offers fairly large discounts. Whilst one of their Love My Body cards will give you a 10% discount, unfortunately, it cannot be used online in conjunction with any other offers.
I hope you found my review useful and would thank you for reading.
