The Sanctuary Body Butter
Advantages: Gorgeous product - Lovely aroma - Kind/gentle on sensitive skin..
Disadvantages: None for me.
I really like using products from the "Sanctuary Spa Covent Garden" range and have tried out many of them in the past. I was delighted to be reintroduced to some trusted favourites alongside some new products from the range to try out, after my husband purchased a whole range of goodies from the Sanctuary Spa range for me at Christmas time. This review will focus on my experiences of using "The Sanctuary Spa Body Butter."
The Body Butter is available to buy alongside a whole range of products in the Sanctuary Spa range, most of which you will find in larger branches of Boots. The price as @ January 2013 is £9.50 for the generously-sized tub, which is 300ml in size. Alternatively, you can order the product online at www.boots.com, where postage costs apply.
The packaging for the Body Butter is quite simplistic, I must admit, but this offers a slightly contemporary 'sleek' design that is quite modern and stylish, in my opinion. The large tub is a circular shape which appears to be made of white plastic at first glance, but in actual fact the plastic is clear, and the white appearance of the tub is simply the thick cream contained within appearing through. There is a large, sturdy lid on top of the round tub that is a bright orange colour and this offers a little eye-catching detail.
The Sanctuary Spa company is against animal testing of any kind.
~ MY EXPERIENCE.. ~
I have found it easy to use the Body Butter and have suffered with no difficulties in terms of the product's packaging. The lid screws off easily from the top of the tub and I can manage to remove and replace this quite easily, even though I suffer with limited mobility and weakness in my hands and wrists. I think too that the plastic tub is very robust as it has never cracked or broken even though it has been dropped a few times as a result of my clumsiness!
The Sanctuary Spa Body Butter is very thick, as you would expect. The cream's appearance is extremely inviting; the thick cream-coloured Butter has a beautiful glossy 'sheen' to it that is somewhat lacking in other Body Butters that I use regularly. The Sanctuary Butter looks to be deliciously soft and fluffy, whilst the gorgeous aroma is easily detectable, even as the lid is unscrewed from the tub. There is nothing off-putting about the Body Butter's appearance or initial first impressions at all.
I find the texture of the Sanctuary Body Butter to be wonderfully soft and surprisingly 'light' to touch, which is very welcome on my tired, dry skin. I find that some body cream products can feel extremely 'heavy' when they are being smoothed over the skin's surface and I can't confess to finding this feeling particularly enjoyable. The Sanctuary Body Butter in comparison is rather light, which is surprising to me as the consistency of the Body Butter looks extremely thick in its tub. This is an observation rather than a criticism, however, and I am happy to admit finding it extremely enjoyable to smooth the rich, buttery cream over my tired skin.
Whilst I am carrying out this process, I am able to witness the Body Butter's gorgeous scent which really 'blooms' at this stage, allowing its essence to 'soak' into the skin's surface. The scent is what I would describe as Sanctuary Spa's "Signature Scent" in that the Body Butter matches the scent of several other products from the same range. This scent is extremely rich, yet surprisingly light to wear. Without feeling 'heady' or over-bearing, I find that there is a strong spice within the aroma that carries itself delicately over the skin. I find too that the Butter's gorgeous aroma feels quite 'warm' so it has an enjoyable 'uplifting' quality that has been extremely welcome during the recent cold weather we have been experiencing of late. To me, this product is perfectly suited to using during the cold winter months due to it's glorious 'warming' feeling.
I feel too that the beautiful scent feels especially uplifting when used first thing in the morning, possibly due to the softened 'spice' type of scent that whispers its presence from my skin following application of the Body Butter to my thirsty skin. In my eagerness to experience this delicious aroma for as long as possible, I have experimented recently with other products from the Sanctuary Spa range, using them in conjunction with their sister Butter. To my delight, I have found that using co-ordinating products in the range alongside the Body Butter, such as The Sanctuary Spa Body Wash during bathing, for example, really DOES make the overall fragrance take on much more 'depth', so the scent becomes much stronger. This is a very welcome discovery as far as I am concerned, and so I have embraced this practice as much as possible, to allow the scent to develop further on my skin and envelop me in its amber-like cloud for several hours after bath time. In my experience, this result is really only easy to achieve in products that are of a fairly high quality, with cheaply-branded products not performing at all well, as you would perhaps expect. There is no doubt in my mind then, that the Sanctuary Spa Body Butter is a rather 'premium' product.
In terms of moisturisation, I find the Sanctuary Spa Body Butter performs with excellence, leaving skin silky soft, thoroughly moisturised, and completely free from any patches of irksome dry skin that were lurking beforehand. In my book, this result is pretty impressive, as I can't admit to having soft and smooth skin naturally, due to its sensitive and (very) dry nature. The Sanctuary Spa Body Butter seems to be something of the perfect match to my skin woes however, leaving even the rough skin on elbows and feet soft and smooth.
As with all products in the Sanctuary Spa range that I have tried out before, the Body Butter has caused nothing in the way of irritation or aggravation to my sensitive skin, nor has the use of the product caused any sort of aggressive 'flare up' in terms of the eczema and dryness that plagues my arms and legs. These results have allowed me to conclude that the Butter carries a rather mild and gentle formula which feels as though it works in perfect harmony with my hyper-sensitive skin.
For the reasons outlined in this review, the Sanctuary Spa Body Butter is most definitely a product that I will purchase for myself in the future. I also plan to buy the Butter as a gift for my friend as I think it would make a really lovely gift due to feeling so luxurious and indulgent. I have no hesitation in recommending the Body Butter, and I'm awarding it full marks in the product rating score as a result of my positive experiences.
