I bought this Sanctuary body lotion from a local car boot sale and paid just 50p which is a fabulous price as you can pay as much as £5.50 at full price. It is a 250ml bottle which is in a white plastic bottle and the one I have has a pump dispenser which you press to release the lotion. It smells lovely and light and also fresh and clean. The cream is white and it feels quite light but it has a richness which you can feel when you rub it into your hands and body, however it doesn't feel greasy or sticky at all.
To use the lotion I will press the pump until I get a blob around the size of a ten pence piece and I will usually start with my legs and feet and then move up to my arms and shoulders. I will repeat this once or twice more until I am happy that I have covered all the areas which need moisturising. Obviously as I am using my hands to apply the lotion they get the most coverage and I will just make sure that I rub some of the lotion onto the backs of my hands.
The lotion seems to absorbs quickly without too much rubbing and my skin feels very soft and hydrated immediately. I have never had any greasy feeling left on my hands or felt that I can't touch anything afterwards without leaving behind any remnants of cream and in the colder weather when I am wearing gloves I find I can put them on straight away.
This lotion is ideal to use daily to protect and moisturise your skin and I can definitely say that my skin feels very soft straight away and this feeling remains for a long time after using it. I have been using this lotion now for several months and still have around half of the bottle left so it is good value. This is a lovely everyday lotion and I do recommend it to others.
I'm not a person who uses body lotions. For one I simply don't have the time - before having a baby I had better things to do with my time, and since having a baby I just don't have time. The other reason is that I don't really see the point. Maybe because I'm only 33, but at this point I don't really feel the need to replenish, moisturise and stimulate my skin as it says on the bottle. My skin is fine as it is.
Of course though I have used this body lotion though, hence the review. In fact I have used a third of the 250ml bottle which is probably the most dedicated I've ever been to a body lotion (I really should do more with my soap and glory ones). I used it religiously for a while a couple of years ago when I was given this bottle along with the body cream wash (already reviewed) as a birthday present. I thought I'd try and use the two products in combination as you're meant to, for maximum effect. The only reason I haven't finished them is due to a house move and them ending up in a draw.
The body lotion is in a plan bottle with an orange lid. On the back are instructions and ingredients etc. There is a nozzle under the lid making it easier to get out than the body wash. Simply get some on your hand and massage into clean dry skin in circular motions, particularly on arms and legs. The body lotion compliments the body wash - it's meant to be ginger, jojoba and fragrant spices. I think it's a nice enough scent, but might not be to all tastes. It rubs in easily and doesn't leave my skin feeling greasy. The smell doesn't seem to linger afterwards
As far as body lotions go, this is ok. However, I wish people would just buy me shower gels rather than these sets where I feel obliged to find time to use body lotions which I don't really see the point it! Also it costs £5.50 in Boots (although can be bought as part of the 2 for 2 offer).
3 out of 5 stars from me.
I often receive products through monthly box schemes that I wouldn’t have bought and that I don’t entirely understand. I like the Aromatherapy Associates brand so I was pleased to get a 40 ml tube in one of my Birchbox deliveries over a year ago. I was then disappointed when I realised it was a body gel and not one of their lovely facial skin care products. But hey ho! I’d give it a go.
Amongst the many things that the beauty industry want us women to worry about, I can honestly say I’m pretty baffled by cellulite. As far as I know I don’t have it. Or if I’ve got it, I’ve not noticed, and I’m not worried about it. I don’t make a habit of displaying those classic cellulite bits to the world.
From what I can make out by reading the AA website, this gel is supposed to encourage healthy ‘micro-circulation’, even out skin tone and texture and give you a bit of a wake up when you apply it. It contains a bunch of natural extracts such as juniper, rosemary and grapefruit which are supposed to ‘refresh and invigorate’ your skin.
The instructions say to massage the gel into your skin every day, focusing on ‘areas of concern’. These areas include hips, thighs, stomach, ankles and feet. I don’t know about you but I find that rather a baffling list. I can see that hips, thighs and stomach fit into the ‘wobbly bits that might get lumpy’ but ankles and feet seem to have very different skin care needs.
So let’s give it a go. My first impression is that the gel feels very cold. It spreads well and soaks in quickly. Compared to other products I’ve tried with similar claims, it’s a lot less sticky and you don’t have to wait ages before putting clothes on top.
Despite the juniper, rosemary and grapefruit extracts, it smells a lot like Vics vapour rub (but it’s much thinner of course). Checking the ingredient list, perhaps this isn’t surprising. Eucalyptus and Peppermint oils are both present and, whilst their position on the ingredient list suggests they’re present in small amounts, they pack a big punch scent-wise. They also deliver that confusing cold-hot feeling on the skin - but in a much more subtle way than with Vics.
40 ml doesn’t give me enough to really assess whether this works on a problem I don’t think I have but I can say that I like the feeling on my skin and if the price were right, I’d possibly buy this again. At the list price of 32.00 for 200 ml, I would need it to instantly melt away fat and cause me to lose a dress size overnight so it’s unlikely that I’d buy unless it were seriously discounted.
Christmas may seem like a lifetime ago now, but I received quite a lot of smellies this year (about 4 bath/body lotion gift sets in total) and am currently working through them all! One of the gifts I received was The Sanctuary Covent Garden gift set which included this lotion, a bath soak and body wash.
As it came in a nifty little gift box mine comes in the form of what could be classed as a travel size 75ml bottle, a cylindrical shape which is transparent plastic with an orange lid. The lid unscrews very easily and to get the cream out I literally blob the cream into the palm of my hand and apply all over.
The bottle instructs that this should be used to massage generously into clean skin after bathing to awaken senses, stimulate circulation and soften skin. I find it does all these things, but not really awaken my senses as I have used this after a bath, using the bath soak and body wash in the range and it helps me prepare for bed more than to be up and alert! It certainly does leave my skin soft and my body feels soothed and rejuvenated and its winning product for what it does!
The colour of the cream is white and it comes out quite nice and thick. It's scent on the back is "a mix of ginger and fragrant spices" but to me it smells quite warm and reminds me of a weird mix of honey and cinammon! It is actually quite a nice, soothing smell, really rich and warm and it smells very luxurious and high end.
The face cream is really quite soft and gentle upon application on my skin and it absorbs in really easily leaving my body feeling really nourished and moisturised. I feel this cream helps to restore natural moisture and I am left feeling like I have soft, supple skin all day long. A little of this cream actually goes a really long way, as I probably blob out enough to be the size of a slightly large marble, which is sufficient to do an arm or a leg. I plan to keep this as long as I can and make sure a little stretches a long way!
Overall, I love this cream and have had no problems using it. I should mention the bottle specifically states it should not be used on the face so I certainly have avoided this, but in my case it doesn't irritate or have any harsh qualities, but is a gentle, luxurious cream that is nice to rub in after the bath. It was a nice gift to receive and to buy the whole bottle (250ml) is £5.50 which doesn't break the bank so I'd certainly recommend this.
A while ago I received a Sanctuary Spa Covent Garden gift set and in it I received this body lotion.
~ Bottle ~
Mine is a miniature and it comes in a small cylindrical 75ml bottle. The main bottle is cream in colour with, 'Sanctuary Spa Covent Garden body lotion' across the front.
The lid is made from orange plastic.
The back of the bottle says, 'Take time for yourself. This wonderfully fragrant, super absorbent lotion nourishes and stimulates the body, smoothing away dryness and revitalising tired skin. Invigorating ginger root extract is combined with nourishing jojoba and pro vitamin B5 for a super smooth finish and a warm tingling sensation.'
The bottle design is nothing too special, but it isn't bad. It is very recognisable, with the orange and cream packaging and being a brand that I quite like, I always notice it on the shelves.
~ In use ~
The body lotion is quite difficult to get out of my miniature bottle. If I hold it upside down for 10 seconds there is still little or no movement. I have to shake this onto my hand and by doing this it is very difficult to control how much comes out.
Even though it takes some getting out of the bottle the lotion was actually a bit thinner iin consistency, than I expected and it does take a bit of rubbing in, but it isn't too thick.
The scent of this body lotion is pleasant. I can detect the ginger first of all and it has a light woody scent, which is really nice.
I am not a big fan of the scent of ginger, usually finding it too harsh, but in this body lotion it is softened by a creamy vanilla-like note. It actually smells really nice and I think it has an expensive smell.
It is quite a warming scent.
This body lotion is lovely to use. It feels light and creamy and it sinks into my skin quickly once I have properly rubbed it in. It does take a little bit of rubbing in, but this might be due to the uncontrolled amount that comes out of the bottle. I find that a little goes a long way with this and a small amount is all that is needed to get a good coverage.
There is no residue left on my skin and there is no stickiness or irritation after using this.
The body lotion leaves my skin looking and feeling soft, smooth and hydrated and I have found that the scent lingers on my skin for a while after using it.
~ Price and availability ~
This body lotion is available in the travel size 75ml bottle that I have, which retails at £2.50 in Boots or from boots.com.
The 250ml bottle is also available from Boots for £5.50.
I like the Sanctuary Spa range and I enjoy using this body lotion.
The scent is lovely and it is a good body lotion, sinking into my skin quickly and being fairly easy to rub in.
The only problem I have with this body lotion is how difficult it is to control the amount that comes out of the bottle. Perhaps if I used even less of it then it would be easier to rub into my skin.
I like this body lotion and I would consider purchasing this again in the unlikely event that I ever run low on body lotions.
I regularly use Sanctuary's body lotion, after receiving it as part of a gift for my birthday a couple of years ago. It took me ages to try it but I've been hooked ever since! The bottle I have at the moment is a full size 250ml bottle and currently costs £5.50 in Boots. It can sometimes be found on offer as part of a 3 for 2 deal and that's when I tend to stock up on their range of products. It is also often included as part of Sanctuary gift sets - I have a couple of travel sized bottles included in sets I got at Christmas too.
The bottle is pretty standard, being a clear bottle with an orange lid that matches the branding colours of the Sanctuary range. Underneath the lid is a flip top cap which is ideal as I often find that lotions without one of these are hard to control. This cap allows the lotion to be liberally applied as it's just a case of squeezing out however much is needed. I find a little goes a very long way.
The lotion is white in colour which is perfect to help with application as I can clearly spot the areas I've missed in application. The lotion is not runny but also is not extremely thick - I find that within a couple of rubs, the lotion has soaked into the skin completely. I find that I need one generous blob to cover each of my arms and legs so one full size bottle tends to last me a couple of months before I need to replace it which I feel represents good value, although I don't apply it every single day, just most days when I remember to.
The lotion comes with a familiar scent that you would recognise instantly if you've ever used products from the Sanctuary range in the past. It has hints of ginger and jojoba in there and although ginger is not a favourite scent of mine, I have found it is beautiful as it's quite subtle and I don't feel that the ginger takes over, which was something that concerned me a little when I first read the bottle label. As I was first introduced to this range by receiving a gift, I feel that I might never have purchased this for myself due to the description of the scent. I am glad I was given the chance to use it though so I wouldn't rule out this if you're like me and aren't keen on the ginger scent generally.
It leaves a lasting and lingering scent after use which I find can still be there a good few hours after - something I really love as it leaves me feeling fresh and clean throughout the day. It's not one of those that disappears completely before I've even got dressed! I apply the cream straight after showering, although I do leave it a little time (only a couple of minutes) before dressing just to ensure that none of the lotion transfers to my clothing. I only use it across my legs and arms (I have a separate cream for my face and neck) but I feel that it is the best one I've tried so far for me. I have also applied it a couple of times during the the day just as and when and it always gives the same results - my skin feels soft and very moisturised without the feeling of being greasy which is a real pet hate of mine. The bottle states that it gives 24 hour moisturisation and I totally agree with this. I have never felt the need to use it more than once per day as my skin is left feeling soft and smooth until I shower again the following morning.
I have dry skin and I feel that this has really helped to moisturise and leave it feeling
smoother to touch, eliminating the dry skin almost completely. It contains pro vitamin B5 and I find it's worked particularly well around my elbows and knees. I also have sensitive skin and although it advises on the bottle that it shouldn't be used on this skin type, this has actually been fine in terms of not causing any sort of reaction or having any adverse effects on my skin.
I would recommend the Sanctuary body lotion, as I've noticed a great difference and that's been from using it as and when on most days, rather than every day without fail. My skin is so much smoother and softer as well as being left with a beautiful fresh scent too. The bottle makes it so easy to apply and makes it such a tidy process, not a messy one. No greasiness either. Top marks from me!
Thanks for reading :o)
I am outrageously neglectful of my skin, just slapping on a bit of cheap moisturiser on my face each day and only usually moisturising my body if the lotion has another effect - false tan for example.
Recently with the glorious weather we've had I have been trying to get the real thing - I did use a sun tan lotion and didn't burn but my skin was starting to feel very dry and tight.
My skin is usually very forgiving, and seems to tolerate my neglect nicely. From a kid to my late teens I was plagued with horrible eczema (to the extent that I was hospitalised once). I spent lots of years having to take exceptional care having special baths, head to toe Vaseline to moisturise my skin prior to being covered in all types of medicated creams, and also taking oral medication.
As eczema tends to do, almost overnight it just decided to go away. I don't know if it was the years of care, or simply that the absence of eczema meant my skin was nice and soft after all, but I never experienced dryness, tightness or even a slight patch of rash again. I just became lazy and so long as my skin felt ok I really didn't bother much, apart from a weekly application of false tan moisturiser (the emphasis being on the tan rather than the moisture). If I got given any body products as a gift I would use them a couple of times after a bath, but I'd get bored and they'd just be bunged into the drawer.
Fast forward a good quarter of a century and my skin is starting to fight back at this shameful skincare slob!
In a panic I raided my drawer of Christmas gifts from yore and found an unopened bottle of Sanctuary Body Lotion. Phew!
The Sanctuary Covent Garden is a posh spa where women have been "relaxing and rejuvenating" for 35 years. The company also has spas in Bristol, Richmond and Cambridge, and of course the hugely successful skin product business. I had a look on their website and was surprised at just how many and varied the products are - so far my knowledge and experience just ran to the familiar cream/orange branded gift sets I receive and give at Christmas. The company are against animal testing.
The little bottle I had is 75ml, the travel size - I suspect it was part of a gift set. The set probably contained some kind of scrub which I guess I gave away, which is a pity as I would have liked to do as the bottle suggested preparing your skin first. I did have a nice clean packet of pot scrubbers, but I thought that might be unwise.
The directions start with "Take time for yourself" but I was in a bit of a hurry as usual. The lotion is very thick and was quite white on my skin when I first applied it. It says that the lotion contains ginger root, jojoba and pro vitamin B. It didn't smell particularly gingery but did have a really nice warming and soothing smell which made me think more of winter and cosiness rather than summer and freshness. The bottle says that the lotion will provide a warm tingling sensation and I could certainly feel that. It warns not to use on the face, but I automatically & absent-mindedly rubbed my face while there was still a lot on my hands and I was fine, but I would be careful not to do again.
The lotion absorbed really quickly which is probably not surprising on my thirsty skin and right away I could feel such a difference. A few hours later my skin was smelling and feeling great, especially my forearms and shoulders, with no tightness or dryness.
As I mentioned I've used different lotions and creams but none really made a big enough difference for me to keep continuing. However the Sanctuary Body Lotion does feel different than others I've used. It is really easily absorbed and doesn't leave a horrible greasy film on my skin. My skin feels soothed as well as moisturised and along with the bit of tan I got really does have a glow.
Not only did I enjoy the results but I did enjoy using it. I've resolved to make this a regular part of my routine, get more products from the Sanctuary range - and start to take their advice to "Take time for yourself"!
I would totally recommend this product and if I'm lucky enough to get a gift set this Christmas, it'll not be bunged into that drawer under the bed.
I had a look on Amazon and for a large 250ml bottle the price is £8.10. The cheapest I could see it on eBay was £7.99 for 250ml or travel size for £2.00, both with free post.
I do like Sanctuary products and have bought them for a number of years, I have bought this body lotion a few times in the past. I always like to moisturise my skin because I have very dry skin and have to keep it well nourished so that it feels comfortable and also nice and soft.
This body lotion comes in a transparent plastic bottle which has a screw off lid. The name is clearly on the front and so can be easily spotted on a shelf. At the top of the bottle is a large hole, the bottle is easy to squeeze to release the lotion onto the hands or directly onto the skin.
The lotion is a cream colour and it is a fairly rich cream, it has a smooth, soft texture to it and it has a really nice perfume fragrance. The scent isn't too overpowering but it is fairly strong. It also has a sweet aroma to it and I think this sweet aroma compliments this lotion very well and gives for a beautiful fragranced lotion.
It is available in 2 bottle sizes and I have the travel size, it is a small bottle so I tend to always give the bottle a good shake. I find it much easier for the lotion to come from this size bottle. I have bought the larger bottle and find with the larger one I don't have to shake it first compared to the smaller one but with the larger bottle I do shake it when I get to the last dregs of lotion in the bottle so that I get ever last bit from the bottle and so don't have to waste any of it.
You only need a small amount of the lotion to soften the skin, I usually just squeeze a small amount onto my fingertips and massage it into my skin. Once I begin to massage it into my skin I find the lotion becomes much thinner in consistency and becomes a lighter lotion. It kind of switches from a rich lotion to a thinner one. This lotion absorbs really quickly into the skin in a minute or so. If you use too much of the lotion you will find that you have the lotion laying on top of the skin and it will take around 2 to 3 minutes or so to fully absorb. If my skin is feeling much drier than normal I will apply a good dollop onto my skin just to give it some extra nourishment but generally I only use a small amount at a time and keep applying it all over my body.
Love the way my skin looks nice and healthy with a nice glow to it, looks well moisturised and doesn't have that rough look to it, hate the way my skin looks when it looks rough. I am in my 50's and so my skin is becoming a lot drier as I am getting older. This lotion just helps keep my skin in a tip top condition and looking as smooth as possible for my age.
This lotion is really good for applying to my knees and elbows, my skin on these areas do become rougher sometimes and this lotion does a good job of softening them and helping them to become much softer.
Once fully absorbs I find this lotion doesn't feel tacky or sticky on my skin. It just feels really soft to the touch and really smooth. I like to use it on my chest area because it absorbs quickly for this area. Means I can get dressed almost immediately after applying it to this area.
It is contains ginger root extract combined with nourishing jojoba and vitamin B5, these are all natural ingredients which will help the skin to feel well nourished and help those dry patches on the skin.
I find the fragrance does have staying power on the skin for a good while after applying it. I find the scent is apparent a good few hours later, it doesn't diminish soon after applying it to the skin.
It does tell me on the back of the bottle that gives a tingly feeling on the skin, I haven't personally found it tingles at all on my skin from my experience of using it but if you shave your legs and then apply the lotion you may experience this tingly feeling so bear this in mind when using this lotion.
I have sensitive skin and have found this lotion hasn't irritated my skin at all and also I haven't had any rashes since using this one. I would say it would be a super lotion to use if you do have sensitive skin.
It is priced at just £2.50 for a 75ml travel sized bottle and £5.50 for the larger 250ml bottle, good value for money in my opinion and a good quality body lotion.
Although this lotion does have a perfume fragrance I would say it would be suitable for all of the family to use and for both sexes. I think the travel size is perfect for holidays or for going away overnight. The bottle takes very little space in the bag and doesn't weigh a lot. The size of the travel one would last the whole length of your holiday without having to take a large bottle. A perfect travel size bottle in my opinion.
I highly recommend this body lotion, it is cheap and affordable and maybe buying the smaller bottle would be a good way of testing the lotion first to see if it is suitable for your skin or not. You wouldn't have wasted a lot of money if you didn't like it or it wasn't suitable for your skin.
I will keep on buying this lotion in the future because it works a treat for moisturising my skin.
Also appears on Ciao under my username pinky50.
I give this lotion 5 stars.
Thank you for reading my review and I hope it has been of some help.
I was given a small bottle of this Sanctuary body lotion as part of a Christmas present a last year. I'd heard of, and seen Sanctuary products before, but they'd never really appealed to me, but I was interested to give it a go after receiving it.
I think it was perhaps the rather dull packaging that put me off. A clear cylindrical bottle, with an orange lid (I hate the colour orange!). The name of the product is written clearly on the bottle in black, and removing the lid reveals a wide hole through which the quite thick lotion can be dispensed - you'll need to squeeze the bottle to get it moving out!
It has quite a perfumed scent to it. The bottle states that in contains ginger and jojoba, along with fragrant spices, but I'm really hard pressed even after multiple sniffings to pick out what those spices might be. I can tell you that I don't smell ginger, have no idea what a jojoba smells like but that I do think I can detect a bit of cinnamon. To me though, it just smells rather perfumed. I wasn't entirely sure if I liked it - I do on the whole tend to pick out fruity or sweet scented items for myself, so it may just be that it isn't what I'm used to. It's certainly not an offensive smell though by any means, and has actually really started to grow on me lately.
For all that the cream is very thick, it spreads like a dream and is actually one of the fastest absorbing lotions I have tried - I literally smooth it over my skin with my hands and it is absorbed, none of this massaging my flesh for hours trying to get rid of white streaks. The smell of it doesn't linger on the skin for two long - I can't really smell it after 40 minutes or so.
The product claims to replenish, moisturise, ans stimulate my skin - so how does it live up to these claims? Well, I'm not too sure what is meant by stimulating, but I can say that it certainly does immediately make dry skin feel softer and smoother, and after applying my skin certainly does feel softer and more moisturised. However, I don't feel that that soft and moisturised feeling lasts as long with this as it does with some other products. A little bit of me wonders if my mind is playing tricks with me because it just absorbs so well, but I can find myself re-applying this to my arms three times a day whilst sat at my desk, so it goes down quite quickly.
This product costs £5.50 for 250ml, and £2.50 for a travel sized 75ml.
Overall, while the smell has grown on me and I am impressed with how well this was absorbed into my skin and the immediate effects, I don't think this product has much longevity, and I felt the need to reapply too often for my liking. Therefore, a mediocre three stars for this body lotion.
I came to own The Sanctuary Body Lotion when I was given a gift set as a thank you. I've used other Sanctuary products, I've really enjoyed the scent and the products used, so I was thrilled to receive this.
The original gift version I was given was a 75ml bottle, the stand alone version is 250ml. The packaging is quite simplistic with an orange lid on the top and transparent container. The lid is screw top and easy to open. Dispensing is a little awkward, you need to tip the container and squeeze the bottle a little. This can make it hard to control the amount coming out.
The lotion has the trade mark Sanctuary smell about it, I've used other products and they all seem to have the same fragrance. It smells like fresh, oriental smell, it lasts on my skin for a good couple of hours after using the product.
The bottle states it's '24 hours moisturisation' 'Nourish skin with invigorating ginger and nourishing jojoba'. It does leave my skin feeling nicely moisturised through the day, just after applying it leaves this warm feeling on my skin, after 30 minutes or so that wears off and the moisturisation is noticeable. They also state that the cream contains vitamin B5 'for a smooth appearance'. My skin certainly feels smooth after using this lotion.
The cream is quite dense in appearance, it absorbs reasonably easily into the skin, takes a bit of rubbing in before it's absorbed.
**Instructions and Use**
It states not to use the product on your face, I have to admit I wouldn't want to put it on my face, it feels too dense for that. It's perfect on legs and arms. The bottle instructs 'massage generously onto clean dry using circular motions, paying special attention to the legs and upper arms'. The massaging technique helps the skin to absorb the lotion.

The Sanctuary Body Lotion is available from most branches of Boots or www.Boots.com for £5.50. At the time of writing they have a 3 for 2 offer on Sanctuary products.
Also available direct from The Sanctuary:

The scent is nice, it does leave skin smooth with no stickyness. Sadly the amount of time that you need to be rubbing the lotion into your skin drops Dooyoo stars for me. I only use it occasionally for this reason.
=The Sanctuary Body Lotion=
The Sanctuary was part of my package that I purchased from Boots, in the pre-Christmas treats.
The Sanctuary Spa is in Covent Garden in London, and the products are also on sale within Boots, both in store and from the on-line section of the store. The Spa range allows you to pamper yourself at home.
Although mine was a 75ml trial size, a standard 300ml bottle can be purchased from Boots for around £6, but it is worth looking out for 3 4 2 offers, as Boots regularly have these offers on skincare.
The Body lotion that I had within my set was a 75ml size, and is the same in design to the larger bottle which can be purchased in store. The bottle is a clear plastic bottle, with an Orange screw top lid, this Orange lid is the colour of the sanctuary spa range. The bottle is a solid plastic, so when I am running out of the product, I stand the tube upside down to make sure that I get every last drop of lotion out.
The ingredients include, jojoba, pro-vitamin B5 and ginger root extract, this gives the lotion a warm feel when you put on, and a smooth finish. The smell is not strong, you notice it when applying the product, but it is not strong enough to interfere with perfume or body spray that you may have on at the same time.
I unscrewed the top and popped a small amount in my hand and rubbed it in from there, I found that the lotion was thinner than the body butter, but was not runny like liquid, it was a pleasant lotion, and rubbed in well, a little went a long well, it was quickly absorbed into the skin and immediately I felt that my skin was hydrated and refreshed.
I do find that my elbows seem to be the driest part of my body, but when I use this lotion, I really notice a massive improvement,
=Would I recommend=
I would highly recommend this lotion and it is value for money.
WHAT IS IT?
A bottle of body lotion from Sanctuary Spa.
HOW DO YOU USE IT?
Apply to your body after washing or when you need extra moisture if your skin goes dry in the day.
WHAT I THINK
I like the fragrance of this body lotion very much because it is spicy and smells very beautiful. I think it smells like the original Sanctuary cosmetics before they started to change the fragrances. It has got a very warm fragrance and I think that is nice, this is a very nice body lotion for use in the winter but I do not like it as much in the summer.
It is quite thin but it is only a lotion so you should probably expect that. When I get some out of the bottle I always think it should be thick like body butter but that is wrong of me because it is not a butter at all. I like the texture of the lotion and think it sinks into my skin very fast. It is beautiful to apply because it spreads over my skin very easy so I do not have to spend very long on any part of my body.
It is very moisturising and I like how healthy my skin feels after I have used the body lotion. It feels like it is moisturising my skin as soon as I start to apply it and I like that because it feels like I am doing something good for my skin straight away. The moisturised feeling lasts for a long time and I am glad for that because I do not have the time to apply body lotion through the day so do one application in the morning and another one at night. It works best when I apply it after a shower or bath when my skin is very clean and my pores are open because of the warm water.
The body lotion is not greasy and it does not feel heavy on my skin, I think any one could use it even ladies who have got oily skin. When it has sunken into my skin I cannot feel it at all and I think that is good because it is so moisturising that I would think that it would leave some residue but it doesn't. I have used it for hand cream before but I do not think it is very good for that because I could not get it to sink into the skin between my fingers very well.
The Sanctuary Spa Body Lotion comes in a 250ml bottle and costs £5.50. It used to be more expensive than that but I still thought it was worth the money because you only have to use a little bit to get very moisturised skin so a bottle lasts for a long time.
5 Dooyoo Stars.
The Sanctuary by Covent Garden are products from the day spa in London and are available at Boot's. They are quite expensive when bought individually but are much more affordable when bought as part of the 3 for 2 offers that Boot's is so fond of. You also get points on your advantage card and a lot of the products are even available in miniature so it is worth treating yourself once in a while.
The body lotion is a gorgeous lotion for day time wear as it is light enough not to feel heavy on my skin but it is also nourishing enough that it doesn't leave my skin feeling dry and tight.
I find that some lotions are so light that they are just sucked in to my skin and don't moisturise it nearly enough but this one gives a good level of moisturising for a lotion.
Of course it isn't anywhere near as rich as a body butter but it's not supposed to be. This is more for everyday use. I do think the fragrance of the lotion is more suited to the winter as it is not as light and fresh as some fragrances. It is lovely but just a bit heavier smelling rather than fresh.
The lotion feels lovely to use and it has ingredients like Jojoba oil, ginger root extract and vitamin B5. One of the other reasons that I think this would be more suited to winter rather than summer is that it also gives a slight warming effect on the skin. I am not sure if this is from the ginger but it feels nice especially on a cold morning.
It is light but creamy at the same time and my skin doesn't feel dry after using it. I wouldn't say that it would be suitable for the driest of skin but for most skin types this would be suitable. It absorbs super quick in to my skin and it doesn't leave it feeling greasy in the slightest and is touch dry in seconds so no need to worry about getting any grease marks on my clothes.
I got this at Christmas as part of a gift set and used it pretty quickly. I really liked it and would definitely consider buying myself some next autumn/winter time as it was nice on my dryish skin and I do prefer using a lotion to anything too heavy during the day.
You can buy this in Boot's for £5,50 for a 250ml bottle but it also comes in a mini version so you can try it out and see if you like it before buying the bigger bottle. It also comes in sets at Christmas time with other products from the range.
Sanctuary products are among some of my favourite when it comes to indulging myself and my skin. I frequently receive them for Christmas and Birthdays which is why I tend to have a month where I use exclusively Sanctuary products together to get the best from their scents and their moisturising properties. Also I don't like wastage so I regularly work through my bathroom cabinets to ensure no products are going bad or getting wasted.
The body lotion that I have been using for the last two weeks or so is a 75ml bottle that came within a gift set that I received at Christmas from my husband. This is available from Boots stores for £2.50 and also in gift sets too. This really is designed for travel, which I do every month or so, and that is why I started this particular bottle as I had a sick friend to visit and I have just finished this today getting about 17 days usage from the 75ml.
This body lotion comes in a plastic bottle which is a light cream colour with the usual Sanctuary orange lid. The colours are quite complimentary and look nice on the side in my bathroom. I like that the products are recognisable to me if I am rummaging through my bathroom cabinets in a hurry trying to pack a bag to visit my Mum or a friend. The lid is simple to remove as you just unscrew it and then you can squeeze the bottom slightly and there is a small hole to dispense the body lotion. It can be a little unpredictable when releasing lotion and sometimes I get loads so I try to be gentle when handling this
This body lotion contains jojoba, ginger root extract and pro-vitamin B5. Now the main scent that I can detect when applying this to my skin has to be the ginger definitely. This smells quite fragrant and has just a hint of spice to the back of it. The fragrance of this is delicious and one that I thoroughly enjoy every single day that I use it. My skin is wonderfully soft, fresh feeling and moisturised when I use this lotion. I find that the fragrance lingers on my skin for a couple of hours at least, which is always great, and the moisturised feeling lasts all day even if I just use this in the morning. The fragrance is delicious sweet yet spicy with lots of depth to it and is one that I really enjoy even during Summer.
This body lotion is absorbed in to my skin very quickly and it does not leave my skin feeling greasy or sticky at all. This is despite the lotion being quite thick and creamy. The bottle claims that this will leave skin moisturised for 24 hours which isn't quite true in my opinion, maybe 18 hours at most, however it is simple to reapply this and only a light covering is needed. A little goes a long way with this lotion which is always pleasing when a product is more expensive than others on the market.
Overall I have been really chuffed with this body lotion. My skin feels beautiful and for the two weeks of so I have been using it this time I have noticed that my skin looks better and just generally more moisturised. I am rating this body lotion 5/5 stars and I feel that it is worthy of this and I will definitely use it again, as I have done in the past, and I will be happy if I receive a Sanctuary gift set again this Christmas or for my Birthday.
For my birthday, I received a massive Sanctuary gift set which was filled with a whole range of goodies, all full sized too. One of the products was the Sanctuary Body Lotion. I'm not much of a body lotion kind of girl due to preferring body butters but I was willing to give this one a try.
Sanctuary products are available from Boots stores and online, with a 250ml bottle costing roughly £5.50.
Sanctuary describes the product as 'a wonderfully fragrant, super-absorbent lotion which nourishes and stimulates the body, smoothing away dryness and revitalising tired skin.'
Packaging wise, this one is pretty typical for a Sanctuary product. The body lotion comes in a bottle which is shaped like a cylinder. The bottle is plastic and see through, which makes it possible to see the product inside. The lid is made from orange plastic. The bottle also has on it the Sanctuary name, product name and other information such as that it has not been tested on animals and that you can recycle the bottle. The Sanctuary packaging is a bit plain for my liking although the colours do go nicely together.
After popping off the orange lid, you will see the opening at the top of the bottle. This is obviously where the body lotion comes out of. I find this kind of bottle to be a bit of a pain. In order to get any lotion out, you need to squeeze the bottle and tip it upside down. The whole process would be much easier if the bottle had a pump dispenser on the top because once you get to the bottom, there are going to be problems getting any more lotion out. The lotion is also quite thick, which does make it more difficult to get out of the bottle.
Although the thickness of the lotion can be a little annoying because of the bottle, this is a good thing for my skin. The lotion itself is not exactly white but has a slight orange tint to it, more like a really light peach colour. It was nice to see a product that wasn't boring white nor girly pink. Being quite thick means that the lotion takes a little more time to soak into the skin compared to a thinner body lotion. However, rubbing this into my skin feels wonderful and I could really feel it working and hydrating my skin quickly. Although the lotion can be quite cool to begin with, it does warm up and gives a wonderful feeling to the skin.
As well as feeling lovely on the skin, this lotion smells great too. Ingredients include ginger root and jojoba oil, which also help to soften the skin. I never need to use much of this in one go so while it may seem expensive for the size of the bottle, it does last a long time. One small blob of lotion is enough to cover both of my calves, which is where I need to moisturise the most.
Even though this is a lovely product, I do still prefer my body butters. However, if I were to get a gift set again, I would be more than happy to use this product - I just wouldn't buy it myself.
