The Sanctuary Body Lotion
Advantages: Moisturises skin well, Reasonably priced, Luxurious smell, Absorbs into skin quickly, Ease of Use.
Disadvantages: Bottle is inconvenient to dispense lotion.
The Sanctuary range from The Sanctuary Spa at Covent Garden is exclusive to Boots stores meaning they are easy to get hold of. I often see the range in store as well as online and there is a wide range of products to choose from. This particular body lotion from the range is available in two sizes. The normal sized bottle is 250ml and retails at £5.50, and there is also a miniature travel version which is 75ml and retails at £2.40 and is also the bottled which I own personally. As far as price is concerned, it is obviously a little higher than budget options such as Nivea, but I would happily purchase this for these prices simply because it is a little more luxurious so I think the prices are pretty spot on. Be sure to check out gift sets and when this range is on offer to save you a little more money.
As you can see from the image, the body lotion comes in a fairly basic packaging which I think is quite nice as it is simple and to the point and I am happy to display this in the bathroom. It is similar to all other Sanctuary products in that it comes with a white and orange theme. The packaging is lovely, and the lotion itself is pure white in colour which is expected.
As far as ease of use goes, this body lotion is fantastic. Different people have different methods when it comes to applying body lotions. I personally apply the lotion to almost all of my body after it is freshly washed after a shower or bath. I focus particularly on the arms, chest, legs and stomach area as this is where I like to have squeaky clean and super smooth skin. I choose to apply the lotion using just my hands, but some people may prefer to use cloths or flannels to apply this. I just squeeze out a dollop of this body lotion on to my palm and use as needed, then squeeze out more if required. One thing that really bugs me about body lotions is that you often need half the bottle just to cover your whole body (okay, slight exaggeration), and as I regularly use body lotion it means I can get through bottles quite quickly. The thing which I was most thrilled about this body lotion is that you only need a tiny amount for it to go far as it is very moisturising and a small amount will cover a large surface area. This means my bottle of this has lasted a good while considering it is only the miniature version!
One of the things which really stood out to me when applying this body lotion is its lovely scent. If you have previously dabbled with The Sanctuary range, you will know what their signature scent smells like. I have to admit that normally I am a sucker for sickly sweet and fruity scents however this is much different and more of a grown up, luxurious scent. The scent is down to the ingredients of ginger root extract and jojoba. Writing it out doesn't explain the scent well enough as it really hits you when it's applied to the skin. It is quite a festive and warm scent which I can imagine would be to many peoples tastes. Considering it is not something I would normally opt for, I absolutely love it, and you can smell it lingering on your body hours after use which is fantastic.
I noticed on the front of the bottle that it states that the body lotion provides '24-hour moisturation' which I was happy to put to the tests. Many of these gimmick body lotions which come in sets usually work for all of half an hour, so I was hoping that this one really would provide me with that. Instantly upon applying the body lotion to the skin you could tell it was of a high quality. The lotion is creamy in consistency and absorbs into the skin almost on impact meaning you have to wait a matter of seconds for this to dry which I absolutely love, as I hate waiting around for ten or so minutes with your average body lotion! You can actually feel the body lotion getting to work if you just stroke the skin. I don't have particularly dry skin, but I wouldn't agree that it was anywhere near soft or silky, and this is why I feel the need to use body lotion. I have to admit that this body lotion worked wonders. I would even go as far as to say it meets it's 24 hour promise which I am happy to report. I was over the moon with the results!
Overall, a great body lotion on offer from The Sanctuary Spa Covent Garden. You really do get spa quality in this product for an extremely reasonable price. It worked wonders for my skin, leaving it soft to touch and smooth to the eye as well as smelling delicious for hours after application. I would thoroughly recommend this body lotion to all. The only negative which I feel should be stated is that it does not dispense very easily. There is no pump, and you just have to pour out the lotion from the top. When you get towards the end you do have to bang the bottle or leave it upside down to get it out easily. This is a bit of a nuisance as it would work much better in a tube that you could really squeeze all the product out of. Fortunately, this little problem is not enough for me to knock off a star, as I feel this really is a five star product from The Sanctuary. Thanks for reading.
