The Sanctuary Body Lotion
Advantages: Moisturising, smells lovely, quickly absorbs
We have just returned from ten days in Yorkshire and the Lake District. Going by the weather before we left we primarily packed jeans and jumpers however the summer decided to arrive whilst we were away and we all ended up getting sunburnt one day when after leaving our cottage on a cloudy morning it decided to hit the 20's with glorious sunshine!
I hate getting burnt as I'm sure the majority of people do and although I had packed sun cream so therefore I could use that for the rest of the week I hadn't packed any after sun. My sister recommended that I use this Sanctuary body lotion which I gladly accepted as I'm always willing to try out new products - especially if they are ones I can't afford to buy myself!
The body lotion comes in a clear bottle with an orange lid. The bottle looks attractive and I would be drawn to it if I saw it when out shopping as it does look sophisticated and the orange lid implies it might have a summery fragrance. The lotion is dispensed by a pump.
Using the lotion is really easy, you simply remove the lid, press down on the pump and some lotion is dispensed. The pump works well, never got blocked over the week I used it and it also gives the perfect amount for an arm or half a leg!
The lotion has a gorgeous smell which is quite fruity, possibly citrusy and certainly reminds me of summer. The aroma is really pleasant and it is quite strong (you could smell it outside when I went out into the garden after applying it) but it is not at all overpowering. The Boots website tells me that ginger root extract and jojoba are combined to make the lotion but the lotion does not smell gingery, it is definitely more of a fruity/floral aroma.
The lotion is a perfect consistency - it is not at all runny which is great as it means it doesn't drip everywhere, it is fairly thick but not so much so that it is difficult to apply. The lotion is absorbed really quickly and easily, you only have to rub over the skin a few times and its already soaked in and you can get on with whatever you were doing.
After using this, my skin felt so so soft and none of my sunburn has peeled and instead my skin has gone a lovely brown shade. I haven't used this for a few days now but I can still feel the benefits on my skin as my skin feels so much softer than it usually does.
The lotion currently costs £5.50 for 250ml from Boots. I was surprised at this price - it was quite a bit cheaper than I was expecting, especially when I saw what an amazing product it was. I will certainly be spending my Boots points on one of these when I have enough!
I wholeheartedly recommend this body lotion, especially if you are a bit like me and don't have the patience to wait for lotion to soak into the skin. It has a gorgeous smell and I think it is good value for money.
Summary: Brilliant product at a reasonable price
