Advantages: Leaves you feeling soft and smooth

Disadvantages: Coarse, rough texture may put you off

*Introduction*

For Christmas this year just gone, my grandparents bought me a Sanctuary gift set. Part of this gift set was a Sanctuary Spa Essentials Salt Scrub sachet. I had tidied this away after Christmas and only uncovered it hidden in my drawer last week while I was sorting a few things out in my room and tidying up.

*The Claim*

Pamper, polish and nourish your skin with exfoliating dead sea salts and nourishing jojoba oils.

*About the Product*

This indulgent exfoliating salt scrub is a sumptuous blend of skin polishing dead sea salts wrapped in moisturising coconut, jojoba and sweet almond oils to refine and resurface the texture of skin and leave it feeling super smooth. Pure skin pampering.

*Application*

Tear the sachet where there is a slight cut out all the way across the sachet. Squeeze the salt scrub into your hands. I find the best way to do this is to squeeze from the bottom of the sachet upwards in order to get the majority of the product out. Then massage firmly the salt scrub onto clean, damp skin. Rub this in small, circular motions to get the best results. I leave this scrub on my skin for approximately 3-4 minutes before thoroughly rinsing it off with warm water. Make sure that you rinse the salt scrub off as when you apply it and rinse it off gently, you are left with an oily layer. If you rinse it thoroughly, it will remove entirely and if you don't it will leave you feeling sticky. It is suggested that you rinse it off into bath water and allow the oils to absorb into the skin. It is also suggested that you follow this by applying a body butter or cream for pure skin decadence.

*Price and Availability*

Sanctuary Spa Essentials Salt Scrub retails at £8.74 for the 650g jar or £1.26 for a single 60g sachet. This is a very good price as you need a small amount of the product for it to be effective. It genuinely makes your legs feel like they have been pampered at a spa therefore this low price is fabulous.

You can purchase this salt scrub from any Boots stores. If you don't have a store that is local to you, it is available to buy online at www.boots.com. Alternatively you can buy it directly from The Sanctuary Spa shop online at www.thesanctuary.co.uk. Sanctuary products are often available to buy from Boots as part of a 3 for 2 offer therefore my advice is to buy it as part of the deal.

*My Opinion*

The packaging: Sanctuary Spa Essentials Salt Scrub comes in a transparent hard plastic jar with a metal clasp closure like a few of The Sanctuary products. As I have said about the other products that are packaged in this jar, I think it is stylish and looks sleek and trendy; a design you'll be proud to have on your bathroom shelf. Although it isn't really one that is easy to use so I personally think that the screw top lid style would be easier to use.

The sachet, as you would guess, is simply a sachet that is very difficult to open, especially if you have wet hands. In the end I had to hop out of the bath to get a pair of scissors. I found it to be a complete nightmare, hence why I bought the jar instead after I realised that the product was as fantastic as it is.

Colour, texture and smell: The grains of the salt scrub are just a white/cream colour. As for the smell, it is gorgeous and pretty much the same as most products in the Sanctuary Spa Essentials range. It is a light aroma that smells of orange with a slightly spicy scent. Once you have used this salt scrub, the smell stays on your body for a short time although it doesn't linger all day. After using this, I always feel relaxed and calm and I think this is largely due to its soothing scent.

As for the texture of this product, it is very rough and gritty. The grains are quite large and the feel of the scrub is also very dry so after application you are left with skin looking rather red. You need to use quite a lot of water with the scrub in order to make it works effectively but not uncomfortably on your skin.

Does this salt scrub pamper, polish and nourish your skin? Yes, it most certainly does. I always use this salt scrub when my skin feels quite rough and in need of indulging. It is very effective at nourishing your skin and I love the softness I feel after application.

Does this product refine and resurface the texture of skin and leave it feeling super smooth? This product works excellently to refine the texture of your skin and leave it feeling amazingly soft. This rough scrub resurfaces your skin perfectly by removing every trace of dead skin and any rough patches disappear and left feeling super smooth.

Longevity of the product: A sachet of the Sanctuary Spa Essentials Salt Scrub has enough of the product in it to last you 2 uses although it will depend on how much of the product you drop into your bath and waste! The pot however has packaging which allows you to take the exact amount that you require and I estimate that it will last you approximately 10-15 uses, again depending on how much of the product you use. And you won't need to use this product more frequently that once a week.

*Would I Recommend This Product?*

Sanctuary Spa Essentials Salt Scrub is a product that I would highly recommend. You feel amazing after you have used it and it is a lot cheaper than going to a Spa for the day. Anyone that is looking for an effective scrub to use, especially before applying fake tan, this is brilliant. After using this product, there will not be any dead skin in sight. And if you use a body moisturiser or body butter afterwards, the effects are amazing.

Although I like this product a lot, it won't satisfy everyone's needs as it is one of the more rough and grittier scrubs which some people don't like. My advice is to give it a go and see what you think.

*Overall*

Sanctuary Spa Essentials Salt Scrub is a very high quality product that delivers on every claim that it makes. This salt scrub is fantastic if you feel like you want to pamper yourself and is the ultimate indulgence. It has a superb scent and it rough texture allows you to rid your skin of its impurities to leave it feeling amazingly soft and smooth. Despite it being quite expensive as it is not an essential product, it lasts a relatively long time.
