Advantages: Works! Affordable, Good availability, Works quickly
Disadvantages: Touch Ups required, not all teeth whitened, bad for enamel
To be honest I haven't tried that many tooth whitening treatments. I've used various toothpastes all my life but I never see a visible difference in a short amount of time.
Colgate did a brush-on whitening thing a few years back but it tasted disgusting and came off easily so the results didn't show up.
I have, however, found my answer. Crest Whitestrips were all the rage when they first came out and after although they are somewhat pricey ($24 or about 12 pounds) I read the glowing reviews. I figured 12 pounds is not that much compared to hundred-pound professional treatments and if it did make my teeth whiter than why not??
Although some people detest having to slap on these white strips twice a day for half an hour I looked forward to it! When I have it in my mouth I feel really positive- like my teeth is whitening every second.
Even after just one day of usage I could notice a visible difference. Other people noticed too, after several days and my teeth have stayed super whie ever since.
The only problem I have with this product is that it requires yearly touch ups! And it's quite bad for your enamel (but mine were translucent to begin with). Also, the strip is quite short so the teeth on the side do not get whitened. My teeth are ridged on the surface and somehow those bits haven't been reached as well as the others so they're now more obvious than before.
Summary: A very good puchase and I will keep buying it!

- 09/10/09 Where did you buy these from? I remember using something similar in America a few years ago, I loved them but have never found them in the UK! Thanks, Lauren x |
