I have been enjoying the lovely sunny weather we have been having over the last week or so and have managed to get a bit of colour which has been nice. However, with a nice tan comes the unfortunate part where you get too much sun and your skin slightly peels, it has been very lightly starting to do so but it really isn't a good look especially on arms when wearing short sleeved tops. I decided it was time to buy a good body scrub as this would get rid of all of the dead skin and it is a good product to have in stock anyway. I was at Tesco but the choice of body scrubs wasn't amazing, I finally came across this one by treacle moon which looked nice called My Coconut Island. PACKAGING This comes in an upside down tube packaging which is clear and through it you can see the white scrub formula and how much is left in the tube. In big bold black type it says My Coconut Island and it says body scrub which is easy enough to see and understand what it is. It has a small sentence on the front which seems like a line from a story and it contains 225ml in the tube which is a good amount. On the back of the tube it has instructions on how to use this and a list of ingredients and a bit about the brand. It is in a squeezy tube which makes it so much easier to use and it looks really fun which is what made it catch my eye. MY COCONUT ISLAND BODY SCRUB Now, to begin with this brand do not test on animals and they warn us not to eat the product. The brand Treacle Moon make brands with really nice scents and they aim to make products which are good for skin. I have sensitive skin so am always weary about using anything with a slight scent to it but I could not find a scrub that wasn't scented. This one I went for is a nice coconut scent and it smells amazing, I love the scent of coconut anyway but this is quite creamy at the same time and really unusual. This should be used by being massaged into damp skin and rinsed lightly and then towel dried which is how I would use it always. I used it in the shower and squeezed out a good amount into my hands, it is quite a thick consistency with black grainy in it and it smells really nice. I rubbed it into my skin, especially where the skin was peeling, my skin went a bit red from rubbing as the beads grind into skin, after I felt I had scrubbed enough, I rinsed it off with water and it looked fine to me. I did it where it needed to be scrubbed and it washes off easily, no clogging the drain either. Once I got out of the shower I dried my skin and it was a bit tingly where I had really rubbed but not in an irritating way and the skin looked good, not all of the bits of dead skin had gone but it was better. I think for excellent results, I'd need to keep using this to finally get my skin even but it does make my skin feel a lot softer and it smells amazing. It is so easy to use this and you do need to use a decent amount to ensure that you really scrub at skin but there is a lot in the tube and it is so easy to squeeze it out. I love that after the shower, it still smells coconutty and it is really nice, I found later in the night my skin slightly started to irritate so I stopped myself from itching it, I can't use it too regularly or my skin will start to get irritated but once every so often is fine and it does look good in the end so that's the main thing. I'd definitely buy from this brand again as this is now the second Treacle Moon product I have purchased and no one beats them when it comes to the smell of them, they really are lovely. The products are good quality too and if you love sweet scents then these are one to try! I found this scrub worked really well for me and if it didn't start to make me want to itch I'd have given it full marks, so maybe if you have sensitive skin use this but less frequently and it should be fine, I always moisturise after using a scrub just to sooth the scrubbing but it is effective and is one of the nicer smelling body scrubs I came across. COST This is available to buy at all Tesco stores, this is where I got mine and it cost me £2.99 for the 225ml scrub which is great and there are also other products in the range like the shower gel and handwash. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Treacle Moon range ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I have tried a few Treacle Moon products in the past and always liked them, so I was very pleased to receive this from Father Christmas last year. This costs £3.03 from the Treacle Moon website, but I would recommend purchasing these products from Tesco, which stocks the range. Although only a few pence cheaper at £2.99, the range is frequently on offer. This comes in a clear tube that sits on its lid. Inside you can see that the contents are pure white, with lots of visible dark particles. I liked this as I do like my scrubs to actually scrub and this seemed promising! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ A lovely sweetness ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I have a bit of a love-hate relationship with coconut scented products. Sometimes they just don't quite work for me, and I can find the scent a bit unpleasant. However, sniffing this before I used it in the shower, I really liked the fragrance. It is quite sweet and, although is is most definitely a coconut scent, it has a slight fruitiness to it that I really like. Dispensing a small amount of this into the shower, I was pleased at how rich and creamy it was. It has a nice thickness to it which makes it easy to apply to the skin, and you can give yourself a good scrub without the product sliding or dripping off. It really feels like it is exfoliating the skin, and because of the creamy texture it feels as though it is moisturising at the same time. This washes away easily and definitely leaves skin feeling lovely and smooth and although I noticed that the smell lingered slightly, once I had used my shower gel this of course disappeared. ~~~~~~~~ In summary ~~~~~~~~ Overall I really like this scrub and would highly recommend it. It exfoliates nicely and moisturises skin at he same time, which is what I really want from any shower scrub. The smell is pleasant too. However I am going to take off one star as it isn't my dream scrub - I think this would have a more out and out fruity fragrance! I also think it may be a tad too harsh for sensitive skin.
