When I was doing my monthly online shop with Tesco not so long ago, I noticed the Treacle Moon range. I had read a couple of reviews of Treacle Moon products on here so I had heard of the brand, but what really caught my attention was the packaging. These products are packaged in bottles that look remarkably like Philosophy products, and although I have used Philosophy products in the past they're very expensive, and my budget can't really justify it.

I decided upon purchasing a bottle of 'My Coconut Island' hand wash because I love the scent of coconut. It comes in a clear bottle with a black pump and it states on the bottle that it is 'for cooks, gardeners and sticky mitts.' Like I said the packaging is very much like Philosophy with a little block of black writing on the front.

The hand wash itself is white in colour is neither thick nor runny. I've found that most of the time you only need to press the pump down once to dispense enough of the wash to clean your hands, unless they're exceptionally dirty!

I suppose the first thing I noticed about this when I first tried it was the smell, and as the coconut fragrance was one of the main reasons I bought this, I have to say that I felt a little bit disappointed. Instead of the fresh tropical coconut fragrance I had been expecting, I actually found this to have a very creamy, almost sickly sweet coconut scent. I thought the scent was too strong and too sweet for my liking, which was a shame, but I have continued to use it and it has grown on me a little.

The product lathers up quite well even with only a very small amount and the lather feels quite creamy on the skin. It rinses away easily leaving no residue and I've found that this hand wash gets my hands clean and leaves them soft. Thankfully for me the product doesn't dry out my skin at all -something which is my main concern with hand washes, as I suffer from very dry skin.

The scent of the hand wash does linger on the skin for absolutely ages after using this - which might be good if I liked it more! As silly as this sounds I wouldn't recommend washing your hands with this particular product before eating. Of course, I'm not saying don't wash them at all, I just mean use something else because on two occasions now I've washed my hands with this and then tried to eat a sandwich, but the overly sweet coconut smell actually made me feel sick and I had to wash my hands with something esle to get rid of it so I could finish my lunch!

Another negative point to be aware of, is this product isn't anti-bacterial, whichi is a shame as I prefer hand washes that are.

A 500ml bottle of this cost me £1.96 from Tesco. For such a big bottle this is really good value and it's already lasted me ages, and is still over half full.

So overall, I found this to be a good hand wash, but the main downside was that the coconut smell was a little too sickly for my liking. I wouldn't buy this particular fragrance of hand wash again personally, but I would try other fragrances from the Treacle Moon range.
