Treacle Moon Raspberry Kiss Body Butter
Advantages: Cheap, Moisturising, Smells Lovely, Easy to Apply.
Disadvantages: Funny texture, If you apply too much it can be oily.
I was lucky enough to receive a number of Treacle Moon products from a friend at Christmas. There was a huge selection to play around with, and as Treacle Moon wasn't a brand I had previously heard of, I was eager to try out these products. After having a little research on Treacle Moon's website, I found out that they sell a wide range of beautiful products for your body. They are split into various scents, and each scent has a whole range of products within it. I received all of the products from the 'Raspberry Kiss' scent. This body butter was just one of those.
On the website, this body butter retails for £4.05, however it is stocked exclusively in Tesco for £3.99 so quite a reasonable price for a large body butter - especially in comparison to the likes of The Body Shop who I usually buy things like this from. I would recommend looking out for these in Tesco as the range is on offer quite a lot. At this moment in time (June 2012), this body butter is only £2.66 so definitely worth checking out if this is ever on offer as you can save quite a bit.
This tub comes with a generous amount of product in it - 250ml to be exact, so it will last a fair while. The lid is black with the sticker on top which states all the usual suspects. The thing I like about these is that they all come with a cute little quote on them, which makes them a quirky and fun product, and especially makes it nice as a gift. They remind me slightly of the Philosophy bath products, and I wouldn't assume that this was a few quid from Tesco. I am happy to display the range around my bathroom, and don't think they in any way look cheap. The tub itself is clear on the bottom so you can see how much product you have left in it.
I am a huge lover of all sweet scented things, and raspberry is definitely one of my favourites so I couldn't wait to try this out. As soon as you open the tub you are hit with its lovely scent. It isn't the strongest in scent, it is more subtle like perhaps a raspberry milkshake. The reason this is good is that I think it would be to more people's taste as it isn't too in your face. Nevertheless, it is a beautiful scent and I was excited to get stuck in.
The first thing I noticed and was a little disappointed with was the texture of the body butter. It looks and feels a little bit like an out of date yoghurt! Body butter should be a thick and luxurious texture in my opinion, however this is a little slimy which isn't great. However, I still gave it a good go and picked up a little of the butter on my fingers and applied it to the body. It is important that you only use a little as it really does go a far way. I have noticed that if you are too generous with your application, it can end up being quite oily and messy and does not soak in very well. However, I just scoop a little up on two fingers and apply as needed across the body. It is easy to rub into the skin, and so long as you don't use too much, it will sink into the skin quite quickly. As far as application goes, I was completely happy with this and did not face any problems at all.
I have to say that the results were extremely impressive considering the price which I paid for this. I have to admit that I was hoping for some results, but as I am used to using much more expensive body butters, I thought this would do nothing in comparison. How wrong was I? Obviously the results weren't as fantastic as using a £12 odd body butter, but I have to say I was very pleased. My skin felt lovely and soft all day and not at all oily. I was really impressed with the moisturising properties of this body butter. The smell does linger on the skin, but you do have to smell closely to catch a whiff of it. If you are after something where the scent is strong and overpowering so you can smell it all over, this is not for you. However, for a subtle scent and soft to touch skin, I am very happy with this Treacle Moon Raspberry Kiss body butter.
Overall, I am thrilled with this body butter, and I am unsure how other reviewers can have been disappointed with this one. Obviously, different people react differently to certain products, and after seeing reviews I was a little nervous about this one. Turns out it is now one of my staple body care products, so for £4.00 you can not really go wrong to try this out as it is quite cheap. The smell is lovely, it applies nicely and if you apply it well, the results will show. I love it, so will be awarding it four stars. One star has to be knocked off for the weird texture. Make sure you only use a little of this and you will get the right results! Thanks for reading and I hope this has helped. :-)
Summary: Lovely, bargain body butter.
