Advantages: eyecatching, interesting, good quality

Disadvantages: none

We had a problem how to wash my elder son's teeth. From one day to another he refused opening his mouth. We didn't want to force him, so that evening it took us about 10 minutes to convince him. Next day he played this trick again. Then we went to Tesco just to travel by train (my sons enjoy travelling by train) and when I was shopping around the baby products I found this flashing toothbrush. I didn't show it to my son just put it in the basket. As they sit in a twin pushchair it was easy to try the flashing without he observed it.

In the evening he refused opening his mouth again then we said to him that it was a pity he didn't want to try his new toothbrush. He was amused and he opened his mouth wide just to receive the toothbrush for a few minutes. After 2 weeks he learned to wash his own teeth alone. Actually they wash teeth together with his father. My son is sitting in the bath and my husband stands in front of him washing his own teeth. My son copies every movement. Sometimes I watch them behind the door not to disturb my son. He is so sweet when tries to make everything like the adults.

Price and where to buy

It was 1.54 pounds in Tesco yesterday. As I saw it is available in ASDA as well. You will surely find it on Internet too.

Features

It looks like an adult toothbrush but the handle is shaped to be comfortable for children's little hands. The handle is transparent and there is some kind of transparent liquid in it. The end of the toothbrush is coloured. I saw pink, red, purple, blue and green one. There is a matching colour glitter in the liquid and a little animal. In the blue ones there is a little yellow duck. In the green one there is a light brown dog. All of them have a little led in them. This led flashes red for 60 seconds, indicating the correct brushing time.

The bristles are 100% Tynex (by DuPont) which are soft nylon filaments to clean the children's little teeth and gums. The bristles are transparent and there is a matching colour stripe on the top of the toothbrush. Its colour won't fade during the usage.

Warning

It is advised not to give to children under age of 3. My son is 2 years and four months old and can easily wash his teeth with it, but we don't leave him alone with the toothbrush.
The toothbrush should be changed every 3 months. I hope the battery will last for 3 month. Now we use a blue toothbrush that works for 6 weeks and I hope it will last for a few weeks. My son likes to play with it, so it flashes for 10 minutes daily minimum.
Supervise the children's technique to learn it correctly. Don't let him/her chewing the bristles.

Opinion

I think this was a great invention. It catches my son's attention and makes teeth brushing fun. He likes to play with it and voluntarily brushes his own teeth. I bought two others just to the case the battery runs low.
I like that the bristles are so soft. My son is still teething so sometimes his gum hurts badly and brushing his teeth can be really uncomfortable. Since he uses this toothbrush he has no problem with it because it is so interesting that he forgets about the pain. As long as he is interested in it I will definitely buy it and I highly recommend.
