Vaseline Essential Moisture Aloe Fresh Lotion
This is one of the cheap and cheerful moisturisers I pop into my trolley when doing a supermarket shop and then I don't notice the cost so much as it gets hidden in the groceries!
My skin is always dry and I find I have to lather myself twice day to combat the moisture removal that comes from bathing twice a day. It is not a luxury product but it is from a well recognised company and the quality of Vaseline stuff is usually pretty good too.
I tend to only buy this when it is on a special offer as there is usually one brand or another at a special price. If not then I go down another level and buy a non branded supermarket one for everyday use. I paid half price for this and got quite a big bottle so was well pleased. This moisturiser or any of the basic ones I never mind sharing with my husband whereas the Lush ones are for my use only!
This comes in a decent sized plastic squeezable bottle holding 400ml of moisturiser. You can see the creamy green colour on the bottle to remind us that this one is the product with aloe vera included. I do like the squeezy bottles as it means that there is little product waste and it is easy to get out the amount you want. The bottle can of course be recycled in the usual plastic recycling scheme run by your council.
The lid can be flipped up to show the hole that the product comes out of and then shut to avoid accidental leakage if the bottle is tipped over. On the front apart from the usual Vaseline logo we are informed that this is an aloe fresh light feeling lotion for healthy fresh skin.
Apparently this product not only has aloe vera which is a well known natural healer but also has Stratys 3 what ever that is. This means that this lotion is a multi layer moisture which I am not sure is very different from other products but sounds impressive.
Apparently Stratys three is a mystery ingredient that is absorbed quickly, infusing moisture at the top, core and deep down layers thus leaving skin fully hydrated. It all sound terribly scientific and knowledgeable but I suspect it is nothing new and does nothing different from any other moisturising product.
I find the product very easy to squeeze out the amount I want to use. The lotion itself is not green like the bottle but a thickish milky white that feels quite cool and creamy or silky when you apply it. I tend to use this on my legs and torso and then my arms too and find that a blob of about a flat desert spoon is enough for my legs. Then about the same for the rest of me.
It feels nice and cool when I apply it and goes it easily leaving my skin feeling soft and silky and not at all greasy or wet. I can get dressed straight after applying this and my clothes don't stick to me at all. It smells fresh too, quite light and subtle; a bit like some face masks with cucumber in them I suppose.
I find this is a good basic body lotion for all parts of my body and my husband's dry arms and legs when I can persuade him to bother applying it. It is not a feminine scent so perfect for sharing with all the family. I also find it works well when my skin is irritated as it is quite calming. The other use I find it excellent for is as an aftersun lotion. I don't see the point in carrying two products when this works as a moisturiser and is cooling and great for helping with a bit too much sunshine.
So plusses all around. It smells nice and fresh and suitable for all the family. It is gentle and cooling so great for use when hot or had too much sun. It has never caused me any nasty reaction and my skin is fairly sensitive.
Not sure on the company ethics re animal testing but I suspect that is is not full of natural ingredients as the price is quite reasonable. I believe the 400ml bottle is usually £4.50 ish and the 200ml one about £2.60is so look out for the half price deals as then it becomes great value. I find the 400ml bottle lasts a good couple of months with both of us using it but it does depend on my skin condition and if I am treating myself to others in between this basic one.
I would say that you will find this in a variety of shops from Boots through to the main supermarkets but it is worth checking the prices as they do vary. I have found it in the bargain shops too such as B&M and the like for decent prices. This is one of the products I buy from B&M or Home Bargains as I get my parking refunded when spending £5 and products like this are always useful.
A good basic moisturiser that works and is ususally a reasonable price too.

Vaseline essential moisture aloe fresh is a good all round moisturiser which I have been using for the last three weeks. I was looking for a good value product as here in Spain the warm weather has arrived and this means that pale and pasty arms and legs emerge from the safety of trousers and long sleeves. I regarded mine a few weeks ago and thought that they could definitely do with large dose of moisturising as my legs in particular had that dry and crepey look that creeps on in the Winter time.
I generally go for a cheap and cheerful own brand but I do like the Vaseline products and think that they are a little more effective than own brands so I was happy to see a special half price offer on the aloe fresh moisturiser and snapped it up.
The 400ml plastic container is a bright, fresh, green and slightly squeezy to extract the last drop, a little different to the picture above. The top is a flip up type with a secure click on closing. On the front is the traditional Vaseline logo below which is written, essential moisture, aloe fresh light feeling lotion for healthy fresh skin. it also informs us that it contains pure aloe and Stratys 3 multi layer moisture which sounds very impressive! This is along side of a picture of an aloe vera plant surrounded by three silver rings portraying the Stratys three mystery ingredient whose purpose is revealed on the reverse. In many languages we are informed that Stratys three is not a space station orbiting in the farther reaches of our Galaxy but that this ingredient is absorbed quickly, infusing moisture at the top, core and deep down layers (how deep we wonder?) leaving skin hydrated.
On to using it.
Simple, flip up the top and a large dollop of white fresh smelling fairly thick cream is easily squeezed out. Apply to which ever bit of you needs it. I have just rubbed a 50pence blob onto both legs and it truly is absorbed very, very quickly leaving my skin looking and feeling much better. My skin is fairly dry so it does absorb lotions very quickly but this is super fast leaving a fresh almost like cucumber scent, great for the Summer.
For me it is a winner. My skin likes aloe vera products and this does feel light and airy whilst still delivering moisture. I tend to use it once a day as my sun tan cream does moisturise as well but I do like the fact that it is absorbed so quickly and you don't have to stand around flapping appendages waiting to get on with whatever it is you are doing.I have not had any type of bad reaction whilst using it so all in all it's a hit with me and I would recommend it particularly to those who, like me have dry or getting on a bit skin and with it's fresh fragrance it is suitable for all the family. I would even buy it at full price high praise indeed from a Scrooge such as me.
5 out of 5 stars from me.
Widely available the 400ml retails for around 4.49pounds and the 200ml for 2.69pounds. The container is recyclable and the product has a 12months life once opened.
Thanks for reading my review I also post on Ciao under splishsplash
I buy a lot of body moisturisers, mainly because I've never found one I like enough to stick to it, so I just keep trying new ones all the time. So when I saw this Vaseline Aloe Vera one on offer in Boots I picked one up. The normal price is £2.79 for the 200ml bottle, it was on offer at £1.86.
It comes in an opaque green bottle, so unfortunately you can't easily see when you're running out, but it has a flip-top lid which makes it easy and convenient to use. I've had a lot of flip-tops where the hinge is really flimsy and breaks too easily, but this one feels really solid, so it shouldn't be a problem here.
The lotion has quite a thin consistency, but doesn't feel watery. It feels really light and it has a gorgeous fresh watermelon scent that I just love. It feels very cool and refreshing when I apply it to my skin, and it sinks in really quickly and doesn't leave a residue.
This is supposed to be a light feeling lotion to leave skin feeling light and fresh, and I couldn't agree more, it really does exactly what it claims it will. Lotions can often leave my skin feeling quite greasy, clogged, or just with an unpleasant heavy feel, but this really does just leave it feeling light and fresh. I can get dressed straight away after applying it because it sinks in so quickly and doesn't leave me feeling sticky.
I suffer from patches of dry skin on the tops of my arms which I need a good moisturiser to keep in check, and a lot fall very short, but this one has left my dry skin feeling soft and smooth and the flakiness has been kept completely at bay since using this so unlike a lot of body lotions the fact that it's light doesn't mean it compromises its' moisturising abilities. My skin is left feeling really hydrated and loopking healthy.
I'm really impressed with this lotion and I hardly have to use any at a time so the bottle is lasting really well. I think it's great value for money even at the full price, so I'd definitely recommend it.
