Advantages: Easy to apply.

Disadvantages: Doesn't do what it claims to do!

In the run up (or in my case "plod up") to this year's London Marathon, I put my feet and legs through some hard work, the likes of which they had not seen for some time! After the marathon, I was pretty exhausted - not just for a day or so, as my muscles came out of shock, but for the next few weeks. The marathon had come at a particularly busy time at work as well, and so physically, emotionally and mentally, I was pretty whacked.

During this time I tried a number of things to try and revive me, so when I was presented with some Feet and Legs lotion, claiming to revive and stimulate, I thought this might be just the thing that my worn out limbs could benefit from.

This lotion is very pale green in colour, and you can smell the menthol and eucalyptus immediately. It is a well defined scent, but it is not as strong as the Body shop Peppermint foot lotion smell, for example.

The lotion is quite thick - more of a cream than a lotion in consistency, and it is easily spread, meaning that reapplication whilst having lotion-covered hands is not really an issue. I find it very frustrating when I have been rubbing cream into my skin, and then need to get more out of the bottle, meaning that I transfer lotion from my hands onto the bottle, then the bottle needs cleaning, blah, blah, blah!

So, a decent consistency, and an alright smell........this cream rubs into my skin nicely. I applied it to my feet first, then to my lower legs, working my way up towards my knees (it was my calves that felt the most weary). Using a mixture of circular movements and long strokes towards my upper body, I was able to give my feet and legs a decent massage at the same time, allowing the blood cells therein to start moving and hopefully to get some reviving oxygen to my legs.

The packaging says that this cream will "cool tired feet, and tone tired legs to leave them feeling relieved and revived". Unfortunately, despite daily use, my feet and legs didn't feel relieved and revived at all. It was a nice cream to use, and it was absorbed well by my skin without leaving my legs feel greasy or sticky, but I didn't notice any magical energising effects, and there was no more of a spring in my step than there had been prior to using this.

My major gripe, though, was that because I had just put cream all over my feet, whilst sat in bed, I didn't then want to have to get out of bed, walk to my bathroom, getting carpet fluff on my creamed feet, to have to wash my hands........yet because of the eucalyptus and menthol in the cream, if I didn't wash my hands, I was in danger of rubbing my eyes, and making them water.

So.....do I stay in bed, and risk stinging eyes, do I get out of bed and get bits on my feet......gah!!!

I have since figured that a pack of wetwipes nearby, or a pair of flip flops by the bed does the trick, but that just adds hassle to what is really an ineffective exercise. So I think the easiest thing in future is just to not bother!

If I were given another bottle of this lotion, I would probably use it, but I wouldn't expect the revival that is promised on the bottle.

Nice lotion? Yes, it's ok. Cooling tired feet and toning tired legs? Not in my experience.

Summary: Obviously not intended for REALLY tired legs!

Congrats on the marathon in London and the marathon at home with your struggle with your pea-green vaseline. Very amusing .

Like the flip-flop by the bed idea - a top tip! Great review & well done on the marathon!
