Advantages: smells lovely, cheap, soothing, easy to apply

Disadvantages: leaves a greasy coating on the skin

I purchased a bottle of Vaseline Intensive Care Dry Skin Lotion to use on my very dry upper arms and shins. I bought it from Boyes for £1.69 for 200ml so it wasn't very expensive.

The bottle is like an oblong with rounded edges and has a flat flip top so you can store it upside down for easy use. The lotion itself is quite thick and creamy.

It smells lovely, the fragrance is a really light fresh one and once I've applied it I have to keep having a sniff because it's so nice!

However, I used it on my arms and then my legs to keep the flakey skin at bay, in particular my shins get dry and flakey after using a razor so this seemed ideal. I noticed it didn't absorb particularly well, although it did moisturise very well I was left with a greasy layer on top of the skin.

I thought this might decrease given time so I went about my normal business and checked again an hour later. It was still greasy where I'd applied it so it doesn't all get absorbed. I tried using less to see if this would help but it made no difference.

I decided I could live with a greasy coating on these two areas and continued to use the product until one physio session. My physio uses a technique on me that involves her having to have a good grip on my ankle. You can guess the rest! My ankle repeatedly slipped from her hands during a session after using this lotion and eventually we had to rub the product off my ankle with paper towels in order to complete the session! Not very glamorous!

So this does soothe dry skin, it does stop the flaking but it doesn't absorb well and leaves an oily slick on the skin. Smells great though!

My opinion is use it if a greasy feeling to the skin doesn't matter, I still use mine on days when I don't see the physio.

Summary: Use it if being slippery doesn't matter!

I've been told my beauty therapist that cream doesnt absorb into your skin it is because your skin isnt moisturised enough, so it might improve with time?!
