Advantages: Smells nice, Leaves skin soft and smooth, Cheap and widely available
Disadvantages: Can get dried up around the opening of the bottle.
I've started moisturising my skin everyday after having a shower. I started off using cheap body lotions which come as part of gift sets at Christmas (about 3 years ago.) But then, I found that they were all running out, so I had one leg smelling of strawberries, the other smelling of vanilla and the rest of my body smelling of coconut. It just wasn't gonna work, using up old crap. So, when I saw Vaseline Intensive Care products on special in Superdrugs, I thought I'd get some, cos I'd used their products before and had found them really effective. I'd used a little squeezy tube of Dry Skin Lotion from Intensive Care a few years ago when my hands had dry skin on them, and it cleared that up immediately and has never come back since, so this time I bought a bigger size, and this time, it came in a bottle instead of a tube. You can buy the dry skin lotion in various different sizes, there's a little tube, a bigger bottle and an even bigger 'Family Sized' bottle. There's a few different varieties, but the one I'm writing about comes in a pale yellow, creamy coloured bottle, 200ml in size (it's the medium one.) The packaging is simple, easy to recognise as an Intensive Care product, and tells you all about how the lotion will leave your skin feeling and where you can use it. *~ The Lotion ~* The lotion itself is a creamy white in colour and is of a medium consistency (it's not too runny, or too thick), so all you need is a quick squirt or you'll end up wasting loads! The cream has a light fragrance, not an overpowering smell, just subtle enough to be suitable for use by both men and women. It's not really a smell that I can describe, it's a bit like sun cream, except not so strong! When you apply the lotion to your skin, you'll notice how quickly it sinks in to your skin and almost immediately leaves it feeling smooth, no doubt helped along b
y the lotions formula - it contains moisturisers, minerals and vitamins A and E (both of which are known for being nice to skin!) It doesn't take long at all for all the lotion to be absorbed, neither does it make your skin feel greasy after applying. It just leave the skin feeling baby soft! You don't need loads of the lotion to make your skin really soft, so don't put a lot on, else it will end up greasy! The lotion can be used all over your body, and on your hands too. Like any body lotion it's especially effective when used after a bath or shower, as lotions are best absorbed when the skin is slightly damp. I've now used the lotion lots and lots of times after having a bath, and it has been absored really quickly in to my skin leaving it very soft and smooth. I have also been told that it is quite good as an aftersun, and I imagine that putting it in the fridge for a few minutes before applying would be really refreshing for skin that's been out in the sun all day! I find a really good time for applying the lotion is after shaving. This makes your skin extra soft, and it doesn't make my skin go all blotchy like some lotions do when I apply them after shaving. This proves that the lotion is suitable for quite delicate skin, so it can probably be used on younger people's skin without any problems. Another place where I use the lotion is one my hands. I like to apply it before I go to bed, this way I don't have to worry about it rubbing off or getting anything I touch greasy. In the morning, my hands are always soft and smooth. Having used it a couple of years ago for dry skin on my hands, I can definitely say that it is effective on dry skin, as it says. *~ Overall ~* Overall, I've found this lotion really good on my skin. *Good Points* * Can be used all over the body, for all the family. * Is widely available in a range of
sizes (the little tube is good to carry around in your bag or take on holiday, the big tube is good is you have a big family, the medium one is good for... Me!) * It's effective as a lotion for dry skin, a lotion for use after shaving and after showering, and as an aftersun lotion. * Leaves skin looking and feeling lovely, without being too heavy for use suring the summer. * Smells gorgeous, but not too girl-ish (so men can use it without being paranoid they smell like a women!) * It's cheap. You can expect to pay 99p for the little tube, around £1.50 for the medium and about £3.49 for the bigger bottle. * The flip-top cap on the bottle is easy peasy to open and close, even with lotiony hands. * It's currently on offer at Superdrugs. You can buy 2 medium sized bottles for £3. It's also cheap in Savers, where 200ml bottles cost £1.49. *Bad Points* * When you're about half way through the bottle, you can sometimes get left with yukky dry bits of lotion round the cap, which remind me of when salad cream does that. Eurgh. Soooooo... As you can see, the good points definitely outweigh the bad ones, it's one of the best body lotions I've used, so I'd definitely recommend it to you, especially if you've got dry skin, but even just if you want a body lotion to use after shaving.
