Advantages: Well known brand, contains vitamins to restore moisture to skin
Disadvantages: Desn't seem to be very effective on dry skin
I'm a big fan of Vaseline lipcare, so when I was handed a voucher for a free vaseline lip product when I bought a Vaseline body lotion I decided to give it a try.
The product comes in a light yellow bottle with a blue flip top lid, it is thin but wide bottle. I think that the whole range of Vaseline body products has been redesigned quite recently for a more contemporary look.
In Boots, a 200ml bottle costs £2.49, however I purchased mine on offer in Superdrug for £1.49 which seemed like a bargain.
I had quite high expectation of this product based on my experiences of their lip care range.
The lotion itself is cream coloured and has a very thin consistency, you have to be careful not to apply too much or you'll spend the next hour trying to rub the lotion in properly. The smell of the lotion isn't all that great, it isn't strong but it does smell quite 'medicated.'
According to the bottle, the lotion contains all the vitamins necessary to restore the moisture to my skin that I will lose during the day and leave my skin soft and well moisturised.
The problem for me is that I do have quite dry skin, and for that reason I think this moisturiser didn't work that well for me, it left my skin feeling ok, nothing more. Perhaps part of the problem is that you can only use a small amount as it's hard to rub in otherwise, so I don't use as much as I need to and therefore it doesn't do the job I want it to do, I don't know but it just didn't seem to be as effective as I expected.
I usually find that if I have a patch of dry or flaky skin then applying moisturiser after I get out the bath and then again in the morning will clear it up in a day or two, but that didn't happen when I was using this moisturiser. I suppose it's just my skin type, there may be lots of people who swear product but it just didn't do it for me.
Overall, I was very disappointed because the Vaseline lip care range is so good and I thought this would be the same however it didn't really work for me, but perhaps if you have 'normal' rather than 'dry' skin you might find that it gives you all the moisture you need.
Summary: Wouldn't recommend for dry skin, might be okay for normal skin
