      Advantages

      Disadvantages

      Three out of five stars

      Tesco recently had most of Vaseline's range of skin care products reduced to around half of the original prices, so I took the opportunity to buy a few bits and bobs.

      One of the products that I decided to buy was the cocoa butter, mainly because of how cheap it was but also because I love the smell of cocoa! A medium sized 250ml tub of the body butter is usually priced at around the £5-6 mark at full price, but I managed to get mine for £3 which I was happy with, particularly because the brand of body user that I usually buy is £12, so I was curious to see if this one would be much good.

      The round, plastic tub is nicely designed and has a screw on lid. It is brown and the plastic has a pearly sort of finish to it, which I really like. Once the tub is open, the smell of the body butter is instantly noticeable. I must say that I am unimpressed with the smell, as it doesn't smell half as nice as most of the other cocoa scented body butters and body lotions that I have tried. It is quite overly sweet to the point where I find it a little sickly, and in my opinion it doesn't particularly smell like cocoa. I think the best word to describe the smell would be artificial.

      The body butter itself is also a little disappointing, mainly due to the greasiness of it. It leaves my skin feeling wet for ages, rather than absorbing into my skin. The consistency is very rich and thick, and it has a luxurious feel to it, but i find it a little awkward to rub into my skin due to the thickness and it doesn't really melt into my skin anywhere near as quickly as any of my other body butters.

      It does have quite a noticeable 'wet' feeling to it - more so than any of my other body butters, and I find it a little unpleasant. Nevertheless, it is an effective moisturiser and after using it, my skin feels smooth, soft, moisturised and it also is left smelling quite sweet. The smell that lingers on my skin is very subtle, and the artificial tone isn't as noticeable on my skin as it is when the body butter is in the tub.

      The body butter keeps my skin feeling soft and moisturised throughout the day, and I tend to use it once in the morning and once before bed. All in all, I do recommend this body butter as even at the full price it is quite cheap. I am going to knock two stars off though - firstly because of the greasiness, secondly because of the smell. Also, the ingredients is very chemical heavy.

        Disadvantages

        Vaseline Cocoa Butter Body Butter.

        ~ Vaseline Rich Body Butter ~
        I recently purchased the Vaseline Cocoa radiant lotion and was really impressed with the results. I was so impressed that I decided to try this product in the same range as well. This product is a body butter rather than a lotion and as I suffer from dry skin occasionally I thought this might be better for my skin and do a better job at keeping it soft and moisturised. The smoothing body butter has moisture infusion which means the butter melts into the skin and smoothes away dullness, for a deep down glow. The product contains pure cocoa butter which is a fantastic smoothing and softening ingredients and is used in many lotions and body butters. I have always been a fan of The Body Shop Cocoa Butter, how-ever this one is slightly cheaper and the Vaseline lotion was great so I thought it was worth giving this product a try too.

        ~ Price/Avalaibility ~
        The product comes in one size which is 250ml and will cost you £5.10 from boots.

        ~ Packaging ~
        The body butter comes in a large round plastic tub which is a bronze looking colour. It has the Vaseline logo on the side of the tub and it states that the product is a rich body butter. The screw lid to the tub is a darker brown colour and on the top is states that the product is part of the cocoa radiant range by Vaseline. It also states that the product is a rich body butter for healthy, glowing skin. On the bottom of the tub is a round label which peels back to reveal a list of ingredients used in the product. The bronze colour of the tub stands out from other Vaseline products as this is the only range with the bronze coloured packaging. At first you may think this product contains self-tanners due to the colour of the packaging, but this product doesn't contain anything like this at all. The lid unscrews to reveal a silver foil lid which covers the butter to keep it protected. The foil lid should be attached when buying the product for the first time.

        ~ Using the product ~
        I decided that I would use the product after having a bath so the butter could work over-night and I would hopefully wake up the following morning with super-soft glowing skin. The foil lid peels back easily using the tab and this reveals the body butter. As soon as I peeled back the lid I could smell the cocoa butter which smelt really nice. The smell of the product wasn't too strong or sweet. The butter is beige in colour and looks slightly shiny. It doesn't look as thick as other body butters I have tried in the past. I dipped 3 of my fingertips into the body butter and scooped a small amount out. I didn't want to use to much as I didn't want it to leave my skin feeling greasy. As my fingers sunk into the butter it was smooth and soft and felt silky. I rubbed the butter onto my shoulders and arms. The butter was easy to rub onto my skin and it softened as it warmed against my body. As I rubbed the butter over my body I could smell the cocoa butter which was lovely. The scent wasn't too sweet but it was enough to leave the scent of the cocoa butter on my skin. The butter didn't take too long to soak in; how-ever I did leave it for at least 5 minutes before climbing into bed.

        ~ Results ~
        When I woke up the following morning I could still smell the product on my skin which was nice as it was a lovely light scent and wasn't too sweet. My skin felt really smooth and soft and was a lot softer than it had been before using the product. I did have a few dry patches on my skin and the patches no longer itched or felt as dry as they had done before. The scent of the product stayed on my skin through-out the day which was nice as normally scented lotions tend to lose their smell once they have been applied to the skin. My skin looked in much better condition and it looked a lot more radiant than it had done before. My skin actually looked moisturised and brighter which made my skin look healthier than it had done before.

        ~ Overall Opinion ~
        This product is fantastic and I love it. The butter is smooth and silky and soaks into the skin easily leaving it feeling soft and smooth. I also love the way that the butter leaves a nice cocoa butter scent on your skin throughout the day. I use this product every day to help keep my skin smooth and soft. My skin definitely looks more radiant than it had done before and it looks and feels in much better condition. The butter didn't leave my skin feeling greasy which was great. In terms of value I don't think the product is too over-priced as my previous brand of butter I was using from The Body Shop is slightly more expensive than this one. You do only need to use a small amount of product all over your body to get good results and a little of the product goes a long way. I will definitely be buying this product again as it gives fantastic results. I highly recommend this product to others.

        Advantages

        Disadvantages

        Your dry skin will appreciate it

        I have been using lots of health and beauty products over the years but I can honestly say that no other brand can beat Vaseline; it's a top rated brand and well loved by lots of people. I have used and am still using Vaseline petroleum jelly for over 10 years now, it's a must have in our household; it is a multipurpose product with many uses, the only thing that I don't like about it is the smell.

        Vaseline however, has extended their range and produced some wonderful products covering nearly every woman's needs. One of these products that I'm really pleased to review is Vaseline smoothing body butter.

        == Vaseline Smoothing Body Butter ==

        I first bought it several months ago from Boots the chemist for only £5 which is considered to be relatively cheap compared to other fancy brands. I have already finished the first pot and I think it's an amazing product.

        == The packaging ==

        Vaseline cocoa butter is stored in an eye catching roundish bronze pot. The pot itself is made out of hard plastic. The name and the logo of the product were on the top. On the bottom there is a peel off sticker, I peeled the sticker which revealed the list of ingredients and a few other information.

        == The smell ==

        There is a protective foil on the top of the pot just like Nivea's in order to protect the butter from drying out. I peeled the foil off and took a good long sniff. The smell was absolutely divine. I'm not a huge fan of the cocoa smell however this one was too sweet to be eaten! The smell reminded me of chocolate ice cream with a hint of aromatic vanilla. It smelt so aromatic and so delicious. I was completely mesmerized by the smell of the product so that gave me the initiative to start using it. As for the colour, it was sort of off white or light beige which everyone can expect from a cocoa butter product.

        == The appearance and consistency ==

        Like most body butters I tried previously, it was very dense but it wasn't just only "thick" it was extremely thick that the mixture itself did not drip the slightest. I even turned the cocoa butter cream upside down and it still didn't drip. I was very impressed with the density of the body butter - it was very dense and creamy with the satin/ silky sort of texture.

        I was pleasantly surprised to learn that it has nearly the same ingredients as their original product Vaseline petroleum jelly. So basically I had the same product with a dash of cream and a hint of chocolate and vanilla.

        == My experience ==

        To be honest, I was slightly worried about the density of the cocoa butter as it may affect the way my body absorbs it. I don't wear rubber gloves when doing my daily chores hence suffering from dry skin, so you can imagine how dehydrated my skin usually is. I put a very small amount and rubbed it into my dry - flaky skin and the cocoa butter spread easily all over my skin. My skin was so thirsty that the thick butter completely dissolved and beautifully blended with my skin in minutes leaving only a gorgeous smell to die for and soft velvety skin.

        The good news is that my skin stayed soft and velvety for hours even when I frequently put them under water. As for the smell I can't say it was as strong as it was when I first applied it, however the smell was subtle but still gorgeous.

        Vaseline cocoa butter has the best ingredients to make skin smoother for longer. It contains cocoa and Shea butter and both of these combinations are well known for their effectiveness in moisturising the skin.

        == Prices and availability ==

        You can buy it from supermarkets and superdrug but I highly recommend buying it from Boots for half the normal price for only £2.5 which is a real bargain for a quality product.

        == My recommendation ==

        I'm more than happy to recommend it, not only for women but for everyone. It can be spread all over your body and it is easy to absorb you can't go wrong there.

        With key ingredients such as cocoa and Shea butters both can restore skin's healthy glow. It will leave your skin healthy looking, smooth, velvety and moisturised. My skin was glowing without feeling sticky or greasy and smelled deliciously good. I have been using it for months and I can say it's God sent simply because it rescued and protected my skin from drying out.

        To get the best out of it I recommend using it regularly to keep your skin healthy and soft and to prevent skin from getting dry.

          Advantages

          Disadvantages

          Brillant 10/10

          It's that time of year again when our skin gets so dry, due to central heating and the coldness of temperature, I myself suffer from this badly, and with having 2 small babies my hands get especially dry as I am always washing them so I have a huge range of lotions and potions and this is one of the products I use quite a lot.

          ***What's it like***

          This product comes in a golden brown plastic screw top container, and has a sealed for freshness foil top.

          When I open this up and take a smell it's absolutely gorgeous! It is really rich and feels luxurious, it is thick and when applying on skin it sinks in like your skin is drinking. It slurps it all in! The result being your skin feels moisturised and soft. Id even go as far to say my skin feels content and my skin no longer feels or looks dull.

          I tend to use this not every day but when my skin is really quite dry, after having a bath; I apply it all over except for the face. I would say stick to special face creams as this is too heavy and is likely to clog pores if you were to put it on your face.

          This is quite thick with being a body butter .I would say it is much like an emollient and really does hydrate skin too.

          My son use to have eczema from when he was a small baby to the beginning of this year (seems to have cleared up now) thankfully! But I used this a couple of times when his special prescribed cream had ran out and didn't do anything except really hydrate his skin and stop his eczema from getting worse.

          ***Ingredients***

          The price is a little more expensive then a lot of other brands of body butter but this smells divine and is gorgeous!

          Be expected to pay just under £5 for a pot of this containing 250ml

          I bought mine from Asda last year for about £4.80 and I have also seen these in Boots.

          Advantages

          Disadvantages

          Soft, soothing body butter.

          Like many people out there, I suffer from spells of dry skin on my body, mainly my arms and neck.

          I am always on the lookout for a great moisturiser that absorbs quickly into my skin and doesn't produce any nasty, oily spots.

          Vaseline have recently introduced their new Cocoa Butters range. There is the body butter (the one I will be reviewing) that is available in a round tub or squeeze bottle and the vitalising gel body oil.

          Since it was on special offer in most places, I decided to buy the round tub.

          It spreads on easily and smoothes out any dry patches you might have. At first I didnt feel like it was really working but after a full week of using morning and night, my skin felt much firmer and overall looked much healthier.

          The cocoa butter smell is overpowering and sickening but light and refreshing...perfect for putting on after a bath/shower.

          I have tried all of the cocoa butter range and have found the tub version to be best as you can get your fingers right round the whole thing so every little drop is used.

          When purchased at normal price, it is a little expensive but worth shelling out for.

          10 out of 10 for me!

          Advantages

          Disadvantages

          A reasonable price for a large tub that does the job well!

          I've never been a keen body butter person, until I thought I would give this one a try as it was on special offer on Tesco's for half price £2.49. I have tried other Vaseline products and have always found them to be good.

          This body butter comes in a large round plastic brown tub, it holds 250mls. It says on the lid that it is a smoothing body butter with cocoa and shea butters.
          On the base of the tub it says that Vaseline smoothing body butter is a moisture infusion. With rich cocoa butter and pure shea butter it melts into skin and smooths away dullness, for a deep glow. Vaseline keeping skin amazing.

          Well now its time to see, I unscrewed the lid to find out!

          It is a light creamy colour and of a very thick consistancy, it has a strange but pleasant smell! I can't really put my finger on what the smell is as it reminds me of a smell you get with some of the fake tans that are about.

          I stick my fingers in and scoop out a small amount and rubbed it onto my leg.
          It is very soft and rubs in really well, It does leave your skin feeling very soft
          as it claims on the tub. I used some more for the rest of my body. I really like the texture but I will have to try to get used to the smell. This is one reason why I don't like using any of the body butters they all seem to have
          a strange smell (probaly something to do with the butters!)

          I think if you use body butters then you should give this one a go as it does
          leave your skin feeling very soft and smooth. This tub lasted quite a long time, so it does not work out to expensive. Vaseline products have been around for a long time and have a good reputation.
