Advantages: Quick, easy, pain free
Disadvantages: None
Men, you may want to look away now because we don't want to ruin the illusion for you and we, as women, do not want to let you in on our little secrets. We are happy to let you thing that our legs are always smooth and hair free, as are our bikini lines and other things like that. What we actually know is that the reality is somewhat different and to achieve this near perfection look actually takes a bloody long time but, thank goodness, we actually have a secret weapon at our disposal that does save us quite a bit of valuable time and money.
That secret is Veet hair removal cream. If, like me you either don't have time or the inclination to go to the salon (as I believe it will just hurt way way too much) I find this Veet cream is a miracle worker. I use the three minute hair removal cream which takes about....yes, you've guessed it, three minutes.
The Veet cream comes in a tube, its best described as looking like a tube of toothpaste with a screw on lid and then it's made of plastic so you can squeeze the cream inside out. It comes in either a 100g or 200g size tube. It also comes with a plastic spreader which is very handy for smoothing out the cream onto your skin. This to me is the best way of putting on the cream as I have perfected it to go on evenly and smoothly. Veet actually call this item a "Perfect Touch" spatula and I can see why.
The cream is very easy to use and apply, basically, just spread it over the hair/area that you want to get rid of. Then leave the cream on for 3 minutes and wash off. The cream actually works by dissolving the hair, if you look at it while it is working you can actually see the hair strands curling up and coming out of the hair shaft/follicle. As it dissolves rather than cuts the hair this means that the hair takes longer to grow back thus saving you time by not having to shave your legs all the time. I generally tend to leave the cream on for about 4 to 5 minutes just to make sure it has worked but it says on the tube to not exceed 6 minutes total application time as it could burn if you leave it on.
Like I said, once the time is up I wash it off and find the best place to do this is in the shower. I use the other end of the "Perfect Touch" Spatula to scrap off the excess cream which also helps to move the unwanted hair as well so this works really well.
My favourite variety of the cream is the lotus milk and jasmine flower version for normal skin. It has a moisturising complex which helps to smooth the skin. The lotus milk provides you silky smooth hydration and the jasmine has a sweet smell. I have to say the smell is really nice. Normally with hair removal cream you get this horrible chemical smell, but this cream actually smells nice and if it wasn't a hair removal cream you would want to use it as a body moisturiser.
In my opinion this cream really does work. It gets rid of unwanted hair painlessly (which is a big plus for me) and quickly. It does stop the re-growth for quite a few days which is great; I find I can leave my legs for just about 4 or 5 days before I need to do them again. Also, it does leave my skin feeling really nice and smooth. It does suggest on the side of the tube that if you're on any medication that might affect your skin you check with your doctor before using this cream. I would also say to do a little test patch first to make sure you don't have a bad reaction to the cream before you slather it all over your legs. You are also warned not to use it on your face, head or breasts! Seems pretty obviously to me but you never know!
I always tend to buy my cream from Boots where it's £4.14 at the moment for a 100ml tube and £6.25 for a 200ml tube.
All in all a great product that I definitely recommend.
