Advantages: quick, easy, generally painless

Disadvantages: the smell

Being too much of a wimp to try waxing, and having got fed up of constantly shaving my legs, I decided to give Veet hair removal cream a try. This product appealed to me because of the promise of touchably smooth legs in just 3 minutes, without the pain associated with wax, and so off to Tesco I went to buy some.

The product came in a pink box, and contained the cream and a pink spatula for spreading the cream. Personally, when applying this product, I'd open a lot of windows as it does smell, and the smell does linger. The cream itself is pale pink, and of the thickness of most moisturisers.

Once spread over whichever part of your body you are using it on, you leave the cream for 3 minutes before removing, taking the hair with you. Wash, to ensure all traces of the cream are removed, and you're done.

However, when this goes wrong, it can be painful. Having used it several times, with no trouble, I assumed that it would be safe to use without testing, and thus spread it all over my legs. Unfortunately, something had made me allergic, and despite taking the cream off instantly, was left with painful raw legs. Luckily this faded and eased within a couple of days. The reason I mention this is to ensure that you do a test patch before every application, as Veet recommend.

When used correctly, this product produces the results promised, and you are left with smooth, hairless skin: it really is as easy as they make out!

As far as I can see, the only con, besides the smell, is that you have to wait 72hours after shaving, or other hair removal, before using the product, which requires a bit of fore planning, but once you have used the product, you will not need to reapply for at least a week.

The cream costs around £4, but is currently on offer at Tesco for
£3.07, and I have always managed to make one tube last for several applications.

Overall, I'd rate this product highly, but urge people to test before every application, to avoid a potentially painful experience.

Summary: a good invention, and convenient product

Great review - I also much prefer to use the removal cream than wax.
