Advantages: apparently gets rid of bikini and under arm hair.
Disadvantages: Got rid of only two hairs under one armpit.
Ok so a few days ago I was shaving my legs as I usually do and I had cut my leg twice, which bled quite a bit and stung like hell, haven't had this happen in a very long time. I was also getting annoyed that practically every other day I am shaving my under arms and my legs, which is annoying and then the hair is prickly the very next day, so I decided I had enough, I had seen the adverts for waxing saying smooth legs for up to four weeks. I mean 4 weeks!!!! That's amazing compared to two days and then needing to shave again.
So I was in Tesco's doing a little shop and decided to buy some wax strips to try them out, which I obviously chose the brand I am reviewing now, these cost me £5.68. In this packet you receive 16 wax strips and 4 finishing wipes, if you run out of finishing wipes it says you can use baby oil to get rid of the remaining wax on your skin.
I went on for a few days without shaving my under arm to make sure the hair was long enough to be able to wax. So literally half an hour ago I thought id finally get rid of the ghastly hair as I would have got rid of it by now. So I gave them a whirl and to cut a long story short (I don't know if that's a good or a bad thing for a dooyoo review lol). Anyway I waxed and waxed, got quite sore armpits and from both underarms only two hairs were removed (at least from the root).
I am so disappointed, I honestly thought after growing the hair slightly that I would have totally smooth under arms by now; instead I had to waste a finishing wipe to get the wax off of my armpits with practically all the hair still remaining.
I mean ok I have only used these once so I am not going to write them off straight away even though right now I just feel like throwing them in the bin and grabbing the razor. But now I have a decision to make, do I let my hair grow a bit more and give the wax strips another try (cringe of the hair though, I hate armpit hair). Or I can have a good old shave which im feeling desperate for right now and let my armpits have a rest and then try the whole process another time.
Well as I am not writing this product off completely I will update this review as to when I have made a decision on what to do and let you all know if the next try is a success or not, I really hope this was just a little glitch, but hey we will see.......
*************************UPDATE****************** ***********
Just a quick update, i grew my hair for what seemed like well forever! On sunday 26th i tried to wax again, first my unsightly armpit hair (im sorry but its just wrong to grow your hair that long to be able to wax) And it didnt even work!!! it got a few hairs at the roots and just ripped some off not at the roots, so i gave up with the waxing of armpit hair and had a much needed shave instead. On to the legs......Well this seemed to be working, it hurt like hell and you had to keep going over areas of unmissed hair, but afterwards i thought great legs are done so the waxing session went well, i had bright red spotty legs afterwards but that was fine and went done about an hour later. I was disappointed though when i felt my legs and i could feel prickly hair, what a disappointment, all that waiting and hair growing for not so hair free legs, i wont be waxing again especially not with this product, it did not work for me.
Summary: I am willing to try this product again, but at this moment in time i am disappointed.

- 16/04/09 I think you should let your armpit hair grow a lot longer before trying again - just pretend you're German and people will understand. |

- 14/04/09 Great review. I feel your dilemma. I keep buying home waxing strips and kits and I always discard them because it's just too painful and not always effective :( |

- 13/04/09 I've used the eyebrow ones and they're quite good! |
