I usually shave my legs in the bath using a disposable razor. The results are ok, but brilliant but ok. A few weeks ago my local Waitrose were selling off packs of Veet Immac Rasera reduced from £6.99 to a mere £1.49.Initially I thought the pack contained a razor and a tin of shaving foam! That shows my ignorance where hair removing is concerned! On closer inspection I read that the pack contained a tin of hair removing gel and a bladeless razor. The blurb on the back of the tin promised me smooth hair free legs for twice as long as with shaving and perfect results every time! I was so impressed I actually put two packs into my trolley! So did the product live up to its promise?

On opening the plastic casing I was intrigued by the so-called bladeless razor. Basically this is a razor with double plastic fins instead of a blade. The ideas being that you use the razor when the gel has done its work. The tin of hair removing gel I bought was in a green tin and designed for dry skin. It contains shea butter and lily; both good for moisturising dry skin.

I couldn't wait to try out my new toy and rushed upstairs to my bathroom, tin and bladeless razor in hand. The instructions suggest you carry out a skin test first to check you are not allergic to the product. However I didn't bother with this! The instructions tell you to use the product in an empty bath or shower, so dressed in just a shirt a sat on the edge of my bath. The tin has a removable plastic lid with a spray nozzle underneath. I sprayed the thick, white cream directly onto each leg, and was surprised at how cold it felt. Coupled with sitting semi naked on the edge of an empty bath this was not a pleasant experience! It did smell fairly pleasant however, sort of vaguely floral. The instructions recommend you leave the cream on for 3 minutes but never more than 6 minutes. I sat shivering watching the clock. At the end of 3 minutes I used the plastic bladeless razor to remove all the cream. I then used the bath shower attachment to shower of any remaining cream.

The results were really good. My legs felt smoother than they have ever felt! It was just as if there had never been any hair on them at all. In addition my legs felt really soft, no red patches razor nicks either. However I had kept my shirt on during the process and now noticed blobs of cream all over it! I rinsed it immediately but even after stain removal treatment it is ruined! So smooth legs but stained shirt! The moral being, use this stuff naked!

When I use a razor to shave my legs I usually notice re-growth within a few days. With Veet Rasera I didn't notice any re-growth for about a week! When my hair did start to reappear it was noticeably finer. Each tin of hair removal cream contains 150ml of cream. I have used it about 6 times now and there is still some left. Initially I think I used to too much and now find even a thin covering of the cream removes all hair well. I suggest you experiment!

I had a look on The Veet website and notice that they have a video demonstration of how to use this product. If you are interested their web address is www.veet.co.uk Veet also make a Rasera cream for normal skin. Although Waitrose will no longer be selling this it is available in other supermarkets and I have seen it on sale in Boots for £4.99. Overall I love the results this product gives but really don't enjoy applying it! Still as they say there is no gain without pain!

I know a woman who gave her sister a can of hairspray that she thought she wouldn't get around to using.

Luckily she did for twas Veet and NOT hairspray. Although it would have been blooidy hilarious if she had tried it!
