Advantages: maybe a convenient product for the less sensitive skinned?
Disadvantages: Clumsy-to-use size, not very nice blade, soap runs out fast
I bought this on offer (£2.44) when I had ran out of both shave gel and Venus razor blades. Since it was going to cost me getting on for £10 to replace my usual shaving products, I found myself being drawn to this razor as it would solve both problems for the meantime for much less money.
This razor is supposed to foam, shave and moisturise legs in one stroke. I was attracted by the bulky creamy coloured rubber coated handle from which I stupidly assumed foam would perhaps emerge.....and because the razor looked, whilst in the packaging, like it was quite large, like the Gillette Venus razor blades.
Back in reality, having opened the packet, I found that what we actually have here is a rubbishy little disposable razor type blade embedded in a big piece of soap. That's it. It has about the quality level of one of those cheap pink Bic ladies razors used with a bar of soap, which is a sore nightmare for my sensitive skin. The 'milk and honey' soap does smell quite nice and made my skin kind of smooth, but whatever good it does is undone by the horrible razor, which does all it can to make my skin feel like sandpaper. I found that largely hair growth is simply replaced by rough skin. Yuck. Maybe i should have tried the 'sensitive' version instead?
Plus the bulky handle makes for a clumsy shave and the big soap-surround makes it utterly impossible to use this razor for any tricky areas---so even if this was a good product for my legs, which it isn't, another razor is an absolute necessity for anywhere else. So much for saving money! Clearly its called 'Intuition' because you need to use all your powers of intuition to use this razor very well, what with the blind-spots created by its un-elegant size....
Furthermore, I found it only takes a few shaves before the soap runs out to the point that it doesn't lather very well at all and some kind of pre-lather is necessary. But thats not worth bothering with since the razor is not very nice, and after not many uses it gets gummed up with hairs where better quality razors would let go of them. I certainly wont be buying any pricey replacement soap-blades for this thing!
This razor also comes with a suction cap stand so it can be hung up on your tiles etc. Which is necessary as the handle is hollow and gets filled with water which needs to be drained out after use. Except as is often the case with suction caps it falls off the wall almost instantly, putting dents in the soap as it falls, wherever i try to put it. A much more effective way to drain it is to throw away the useless stand, put on the storage cap provided which fortunately has draining holes, and carefully balance it razor down---I say carefully as the cap is not totally flat, but the razor will stand up balanced on it if care is taken.
Intuition had the potential to be an handy throwaway razor to take on holiday, as in theory it makes it unnecessary to pack any other shaving products. But given the discomfort and leg-roughness it usually caused me, and the way it leaks water after use, I cant really recommend it for that either.
Summary: the soap-and-shave gimmick does work, more or less, but only for a few shaves...

- 14/08/09 Sorry for the bad review but, I swear by this and have done for a long time. It is not meant to foam and doesnt state anywhere about that it states, lathers, shaves and moisturises... not foams. |
