Advantages: All in one razor faster and cheaper to run
Disadvantages: Bit bulky
In my bathroom are two Gillette Venus Razors, the blades are blunt and I refuse to pay £5.00 for some blades so I decided to venture into Boots today so look for a cheaper razor where the blades would be a bit cheaper to replace as I go through the blades like nobody's business as my hair grows soooooo fast.
As I browsed the razor area nothing took my fancy, disposable razors are nasty and hurt my legs and I didn't really want to get another Gillette razor so I decided to look for a boots own brand, they had one and the blades were around £3.49 to replace, not bad I thought picking it up but then another one caught my eye, it was chunkier and also came with 2 blades and was £3.99 and the blades were the same price as boots own brand so I picked up the Wilkinson Intuition Razor and went to the till.
If I had known that I was going to purchase a new brand of razor today then I would of checked some of the reviews of the item but as I am me it was a random purchase that I didn't think about anything other than the cost.
****The Packaging****
The razor is contained within secure packaging, yes that impossible packaging that not even an adult can get into, so I ended up asking Mark to open the razor, he noticed there was two simple notes on the corner of the packaging which said push here, he did and the packaging opened and here I had my new razor £3.99 paid for with my Advantage card points.
****The Razor****
As I mentioned earlier this is a razor that has replaceable blades, so I removed the spare blade included in the packaging and picked up the razor.
The razor is a lot chunkier than the sleek competitor Gillette Venus but this would be ideal as I sometimes struggle to grip the razor so the wider area would be ideal for me.
I removed the travel cap which is also there as a safety feature, but is not child proof.
I was stumped. Around the blade was a chunk of what looked like soap, I thought I needed to read the instructions as I would do something wrong otherwise.
Simpler than I thought all you needed to do was wet the razor and your legs and shave and the soap that surrounds the razor creates a lather so there is no need for shaving gel or soap…great!!!
It is actually described as "A Triple blade razor surrounded by a Skin Conditioning Solid™ "
The Intuition was launched in March 2004 and was the first all in one razor for women.
The replaceable blades are available in a sensitive which is what I had chosen as I had a rash from using my previous razors blunt blade so my legs were already sore.
The actual razor is coloured blue for sensitive skin however there is also another colour which is a lime green and is for the scented Melon Fresh, at the time I purchased my razor there was no others on display but as I said I had not really read about my purchase so just bought it as it was one of the cheapest there.
****Using the razor****
The razor is a lot easier and quicker to use than any others I have come across. The pivoting head follows the contours of your body to give a smooth shave.
As the skin conditioning solid or as I refer to it the block of soap is enriched with aloe vera, coco butter and vitamin E it is extremely good for your skin as shaving can dry your skin out especially in this warm weather we are currently experiencing.
As I was in the bath I simply dipped the head of the razor into the water so that the soap made contact and simply began to shave my leg the soap block immediately left a trail of fresh scent on my leg whilst removing the excess hair, no more shaving gel to add to the legs then shave then rinse, this is great!!
The razor is a little bulky when trying to shave in awkward places such as underarm and by the ankle but after a few attempts my legs and arms are done and are smoother than ever.
****Storing the razor****
The razor comes complete with a shower holder for convenient and hygienic storage, it hangs the razor upside down so that it can dry out and there is a slot to store the spare blade. On the back of the plastic holder are two suckers that stick to glass and tiles, which is where mine is currently draining off.
According to the instructions that came with the razor there will be a clear indication when the blade will need replacing that at present I have no idea what this will be I assume that the soap block surrounding the razor will begin to wear down but when I am sure I will come back and update and let you know if my opinion has changed, but I highly doubt it I was fed up of nicking myself with the venus razor and this gives you a close shave without the dots of blood afterwards.
****How long do the blades last?****
I have to admit this is where the razor fails in my opinion, I shave every other day and I now need to change the blade as it has worn away so not even 4 months wear and tear, they could do with looking at this so that it does last that little bit longer.
****Further Information****
