Advantages: Short neck, small head, soft bristles, also a teething ring, unique looking, different colours

Disadvantages: None

Even though my little girl is only 2 years old, she has made her way through a ton of toothbrushes. Her Wisdom Step-by-Step toothbrush seems to be her favourite to date so I thought I'd write a quick review on it.

We picked up the Wisdom Step-by-Step toothbrush whilst browsing in Wilkinsons. I have not seen the toothbrush in any other shops but apparently it's available at Morrisons, Boots and many online retailers. It averagely costs between £1.00 - £2.00.

We picked up our toothbrush for just 75p - bargain! They weren't on special offer, they are just considerably cheaper in Wilkinsons.

We chose a pink and yellow toothbrush as it looked the girliest but there are a range of different colours to choose from which include red and yellow, orange and blue, blue and yellow and blue and green. There is also a green and yellow one which looks suspiciously turtle-like!

The toothbrush was packaged well - it was encased inside plastic so you could have a good look at it but couldn't tamper with it. The plastic was backed with cardboard which had an easy to remove strip which allowed me to remove the toothbrush from the packaging quickly and easily. The packaging was quite eyecatching and appeals to adults aswell as children.

The toothbrush is quite small - only about 3 or 4 inches long. It has a very short neck so it's very safe and impossible for a baby or toddler to stick it down their throats - my daughter hasn't even so much as gagged on her toothbrush.

It also has a small head and small bristle area so it doesn't take up the whole of the mouth. The bristles are very soft - my daughter has never had any incidents or discomfort when brushing her teeth.

The handle of the toothbrush is big, rounded and very chunky (easy and not too fiddly for adults to hold on to). It has a hole in the middle and is very well designed for little fingers to hold on to. The handle also doubles up into a teething ring which I think is a great idea and can prove very useful for babies under 18 months (by 18 months most children won't feel the need to chew on things). The handle is made of plastic and is very tough - there's no chance of a child biting lumps out of it.

Because the toothbrush has a unique look to it, it will interest most babies and toddlers which should encourage them to brush their teeth. My toddler loves using her 'big girls' toothbrush and regularly asks to brush her teeth. She enjoys brushing her teeth by herself with ease (I put on half a pea size amount of infant toothpaste) and joining in brushing with mummy and daddy.

The only real downside is that the toothbrush is too large to fit into our toothbrush holders, which is a bit of a pain.

Once your child reaches 3 years of age they can discontinue use of the 0-2 year toothbrush and move onto the next toothbrush in the Wisdom Step-by-Step range which is designed for children 3-5 years. Then when your child reaches 6 years of age they can move onto the next Step-by-Step toothbrush which is designed for children 6-8 years.

Most professionals say that you should start brushing your childs teeth as soon as their first tooth appears and in my opinion the Wisdom Step-by-Step 0-2 Years Toothbrush is the perfect starter brush.

Summary: Keep those milk teeth in tip top condition.

Lovely review. I would never have needed reminding to brush my teeth, had I owned tooth brush like that, when I was a toddler
