Advantages: Nice colour with olive undertones.
Disadvantages: Absolutely everything. How can one product do so much wrong?!
Xen-Tan Transform has to be the WORST self tanning product I have ever used.
I was EXTREMELY disappointed with it after it claimed to do so much and be so revolutionary!
My main gripes are as follows... (quotes taken from the manufacturer's website, essentially the tanner's specific unique selling points)
1. 'Transform doesn't look like a self tanner' - no it doesn't - the bottle is so small. Usually self tanners come in much bigger bottles. What a rip-off! 177ml? What kind of quantity is that? I'd rather have had 150ml just to be more even about it. Tanners usually come in 200mls or other more sensible rounded quantities. 177ml? Pardon?
2. 'Transform doesn't smell like a self tanner' - er, yeh, yeh it does. It smells like the worst self tanner on the face of the earth! I mean, self tanning can be a smelly procedure but the odour from this was stomach churning. It woke me up from my sleep! Vile. Just so so vile. The smell wouldn't wash off my skin much either! Terrible!
3. 'Transform doesn't feel like a self tanner' - um, no, they're right on that one. Most tanners I've used have been nice to apply, creamy, buttery or milky. This was an awkward fruity gel/cream sticky thick non absorbing formulation. Big let down. Not nice to work with.
I think they meant that it looks, feels and smells much better than usual tanners. Trust me. It doesn't. It's worse. Much worse. It's like they took everything one could hate about a self tanner and made it into a real product.
The one thing I will say is that the colour was very very good. It had olive undertones rather than orange and it didn't seem to go patchy or freckly as it fades. So the end result was good but totaly not worth the trauma!
Unfortunately the entire experience was so repulsive (don't put this obviously pore blocking stuff near your face either - ew) that I only used it once and even though I paid premium for it (given the quantity) I could not and will not ever be able to face using it again!
It's one of those big regret purchases for me sadly.
Can you give no stars in these situations?!? Ok it can have one star. That's for the colour. But it's lucky to be getting that!
Summary: I really wish I hadn't tried this one! Such a disappointment.

- 13/07/09 Sounds awful! I avoid self tanner's anyway as I'm so pale I always look silly when I use them! But this one sounds like one to avoid anyway. |
