Yardley London English Lavender Tin Talc
Advantages: Offers an authentic lavender aroma
Disadvantages: None for me
Whilst some people consider the aroma of lavender to be old fashioned and for "old ladies", I have adored the fragrance ever since I was a child as in addition to it offering calming and relaxing properties, it evokes some very special memories for me. Although I would never use a lavender perfume I love using toiletries offering the delightful aroma, but my experience over the years has proven that very few brands can provide an authentic aroma. Yardley is the winner as far as I am concerned, as their products offer a true scent with this review discussing my experience with using their English Lavender Perfumed Talc, which is a product I have repurchased time and time again.
Whilst I use a number of different brands of talcum powder, Yardley is the only manufacturer that provides the product in a sturdy recyclable metal container where we are presented with 200 grams. This is especially useful for those consumers who have bathrooms that become a little steamy (in the bathing sense I mean!), as the metal prevents the powder from becoming damp.
The soft, smooth and very fine white powder is dispensed via the small holes contained within the lilac coloured plastic circular section on the top of the lid, which needs to be gently rotated to open and close. The aroma is simply stunning and extremely authentic due to the combination of calming ingredients, which open up with the notes of lavender leaves, neroli and clary sage with the most evident belonging to the lavender leaves. The powder offers heart notes of lavender oil and geranium, which enables the powder to send me to a very calming and relaxing place. The base notes of the talcum powder are sandalwood and tonka bean and when initially applying I am only able to recognise the lavender, but after a few moments of the white powder being dusted over the surface of my skin, I am able to detect the sage and tonka bean, which are two ingredients I am familiar with from using eau de parfumes.
I adore the sensation of talcum powder on my skin, particularly after my night time bath, as in addition to absorbing any excess moisture the powder enables the surface of my skin to feel wonderfully soft and smooth. I find the aroma of lavender very calming and as I experience problems with sleeping, it assists me with relaxing in the evenings. Furthermore, the lavender aroma lingers for many hours on both my skin and bedding where I am often able to detect the scent when I wake up in the morning. There is a good expiry date on the reverse of the container of 24 months and I generally find that a tin of talcum powder lasts me around eight months with daily use. If you like the aroma of lavender you will love this perfumed talc, which normally retails at around £7.25 for a 200 gram container. However, at the time of writing, Boots have discounted the entire Yardley English Lavender range where you can purchase this product for £4.83.
Due to the highly authentic aroma and the luxurious texture of the powder, I feel a five star rating appropriate together with a high recommendation.
I hope you found my review useful and thanks for reading.
