      gorgous vintage summery spray

I am a huge fan of Yardly products especially the rose and violet, but as the weather has become more summery I thought I would try the daisy scent.I was pleasantly surprised it does not smell like the little daisies that pop up from your garden this time of year. Instead think the large daisies that grace the flower beds of an English country garden.
The scent lingers as well as any perfume and doesn't feel artificial at all. It is just like if the perfume most young girls tried to make at some point using flowers and water actually worked.
This is a must for all true vintage fans as Yardley was one of the number one perfumes used in the vintage era's. Daisy is a great one as you can have that vintage feel without smelling like your grandma (which I actually love).
Plus when filming Downton Abbey all the female characters spritzed themselves in yardly lavender and lily of the valley to create authenticity on set.

      Lovely!

When it comes to Yardley branded products I am a bit of a sucker for them to be honest. I like the usually old fashioned appearance given off by the packaging and the more traditional scents we are given whether it be in a body spray like I am reviewing here or a talc though I do tend to steer clear of the perfumes from the range as I find them a bit too overpowering and grannified in the scents of those!

This I bought way back in my then local Asda store when they were on offer. I bought a few different fragrances in the sprays at the time and they cost me £1.00 each which is why I stocked up in the first place to be honest, cos I knew I was getting a bargain and that I have seen them retail in places like Boots and Superdrug for well over a couple of pounds each.

This 75ml comes in a bright yellow and white aerosol style cylinder and tall can and it has a yellow lid to the top of it which conceals the small button you press to dispense the spray out with and then on the front of the can we are clearly told what it is and who it is by as well as the size being stated then on the back of the can other information given includes the ingredients being listed and contact details for Yardley are given. It is a nice and bright attractive can this one and its really easy to use as well as being nice to display.

      The Spray:

Well this spray is easily dispensed out and I gently spray some on at arms length onto my dry and clean skin and it sprays out fine and slightly damp though not wet as such and pretty much straight after spraying myself with this I can dress.

The scent of this is wonderful, light but noticeable and well blended and once on my skin that scent lingers on it for a good few hours too.

This to me has a very light scent of daisy flowers to it which is really natural along with a hint of a rose scent and there is a depth of Sandalwood to it with a hint of musky, earthy musk. Its well rounded and I think quite a modern, watery scent and I really do like this one alot. It isn't just a simple daisy fragrance but a rich, warm and natural one that makes me think of warm and lazy days!

This is a fav of mine as I really like it cos its so unusual and if you see one I say give it a whiff!

        A nice body spray

~English Daisy Body Spray from the Yardley range~
        **************************************

I bought quite a number of Yardley body sprays last year when they were on a really good deal in store and have been working my way through them on and off. Amongst the varieties that I bought was the Royal English Daisy body spray which I feel has a lovely fresh feeling spring time or early summer scent to it that works well on warmer days. I like many of the Yardley old english style fragrances you can buy including this one, as it has a nice green floral feel to it that works well at times.

Each can of body spray contains 75mls of the product which I find lasts quite a long time with light usage. The product cans are slim and easy to slip into a bag or pocket should you need to take one out and about with you for top up sprays. The spray applicators on these product cans are easy to use and need only a very light touch to get a quick even coverage on the skin where required. There is no powdery residue left after usage, either in the air or on the skin when using the product which I feel is a bonus.

The body spray is said to be a long lasting one (according to Yardley) and whilst I would agree that the fragrance lasts a good while on the skin it certainly won't last all day long and may need the odd top up spray here and there. I find that the body spray has a fresh feel to it, with a nicely scented green floral fragrance that I quite like. Yardley say that there are top notes of green leaves/ apple, with the addition of hyacinth, white rose, sandalwood and musk to make up the feminine English Daisy scent. I feel the fragrance has a green yet sunny floral feel to it.

I find that I can wear this body spray on its own if wanted as it has enough about it to be able to stand on its own if worn as a day time body spritz. For evenings I find the fragrance a little too light and would suggest it was worn alongside a complimentary perfume or EDT product. I have not found there to be any irritation to the skin after having sprayed a little of the fragrance on and find that the light green floral fragrance usually softens over time before fading out a few hours afterwards.

        ~Product rating/ price~
        *****************

The cost of a 150ml sized spray can is around £2.50 to £1.99 in most stores where I have seen it on sale, which I feel is fair value for the product. I find that a little of the spray goes a long way and lasts well when used sparingly. There are other products in the same fragrance range that you can buy and these work well when layering the fragrance to give a longer lasting scent on the skin. My rating for the product is 4 stars.

          Advantages

          Disadvantages

Unique smelling body spray, refreshing and unique. Not bad price either.

I hadn't really heard of Yardley before but I'd seen some beautiful photos used for their promo shoot for Daisy.
The reason I have it is because it came in a beauty advent calendar before Christmas.

Packaging - bright yellow and white aerosol can that gives the impression of fresh and clean. Yellow cap that you pull off and up, revealing a spray nozzle. Very appealing to look at as I like this kinda style and its different to the normal fairly cheap body sprays. It looks much more grown up.

Scent - the smell of daisies (well flowers I suppose) and freshness. It smells beautiful! Better than any body spray I've used before. Not too sweet, flowery and feminine. It smells summery!

Usage - this can be used all over the body, like a normal body spray, but it smells so good you could skip perfume as it is so fragrant. It feels very cooling on the skin although like all body sprays it contains alcohol so obviously don't spray straight on to skin, but spray short mists all over, or walk into the spray for a less fragrant scent. Don't forget to shake well before you use!

Price & value - on the Yardley website (www.yardleylondon.co.uk) it is priced at £2.49 but I think you may be able to find it cheaper than this elsewhere. It holds 75ml of liquid so a good amount, but I get through body sprays quite easily, so as this is my new favourite I will only be using occaisionally!

Overall - a light, fresh scent which will probably agree with most people's nose's. Bright & colourful packaging. Based on Daisies and summer!

          An OK fragrance

This is a review of a body spray by Yardley in the 'Royal English Daisy' fragrance line. You can also get body wash, body moisturiser, eau de toilette and soap in this line. My spray is 75ml which is a typical sized bottle of body spray. I received my bottle in a beauty advent calendar and was a bit surprised that it was included as it was mainly high end brands and I associate Yardley as a bit of an 'old lady' brand which sold well in a shop I worked in as a Saturday girl many years ago. Despite this association, I was willing to give it a try with a back up plan of an auntie who gets all the toiletries I want rid of particularly body sprays!

          Packaging
The Royal English Daisy brand is bright yellow and very distinctive. The bottle has a yellow lid that removes to reveal the spray nozzle which you simply press to activate.

          In use
I tend to use this on a day when I am not doing anything special and will spray a little bit on. I use deodorant on my under arms and will avoid wearing perfume if I am using this spray. I am not a big fan of aerosols as they can make me feel a bit wheezy so I only use a small amount each time. This 75ml bottle will last me months.

          What's it like?
The fragrance is light and quite summery and not 'old lady' at all. It does have a summer meadow sort of smell to it and is quite long lasting on skin. I like to use it after a shower and it does smell fresh and is not over powering.

          Price
Although I didn't buy my body spray directly, I have looked online for prices and at Chemists Direct website the 75ml spray is priced £1.99 which I think is pretty cheap for a branded product.

          My thoughts
This spray was far better than I was expecting it to be and I will be hanging on to it rather than pass on to my auntie. I have to say it was not my favourite beauty item in the advent calendar (more reviews on these products to come!) but it certainly wasn't the worst either. Obviously it's a fairly low value item but at least it is affordable to buy.

          Final word
I am not a big fan of body sprays so they are not particularly something I bother to buy myself but I do seem to end up with them anyway as they are part of gift sets at birthdays and Christmas. I like the bright yellow packaging and find the fragrance quite wearable without feeling old fashioned. It would be ideal as a handbag accessory as the bottle is quite small and portable and whilst I prefer wearing perfume I do find it a nice change to have a spritz of this instead.

Yardley London's Royal English Daisy is an elegant dewy fresh, green floral fragrance, reminiscent of flower filled meadows in the spring sunshine. It opens with a burst of energetic top notes in the form of fresh green leaves and apple, combined with a heart of hyacinth and white rose, enhanced with warm base notes of sandalwood and musk.
