Advantages: Cheap and cheerful

Disadvantages: Not a big fan of body sprays

This is a review of a body spray by Yardley in the 'Royal English Daisy' fragrance line. You can also get body wash, body moisturiser, eau de toilette and soap in this line. My spray is 75ml which is a typical sized bottle of body spray. I received my bottle in a beauty advent calendar and was a bit surprised that it was included as it was mainly high end brands and I associate Yardley as a bit of an 'old lady' brand which sold well in a shop I worked in as a Saturday girl many years ago. Despite this association, I was willing to give it a try with a back up plan of an auntie who gets all the toiletries I want rid of particularly body sprays!

Packaging
The Royal English Daisy brand is bright yellow and very distinctive. The bottle has a yellow lid that removes to reveal the spray nozzle which you simply press to activate.

In use
I tend to use this on a day when I am not doing anything special and will spray a little bit on. I use deodorant on my under arms and will avoid wearing perfume if I am using this spray. I am not a big fan of aerosols as they can make me feel a bit wheezy so I only use a small amount each time. This 75ml bottle will last me months.

What's it like?
The fragrance is light and quite summery and not 'old lady' at all. It does have a summer meadow sort of smell to it and is quite long lasting on skin. I like to use it after a shower and it does smell fresh and is not over powering.

Price
Although I didn't buy my body spray directly, I have looked online for prices and at Chemists Direct website the 75ml spray is priced £1.99 which I think is pretty cheap for a branded product.

My thoughts
This spray was far better than I was expecting it to be and I will be hanging on to it rather than pass on to my auntie. I have to say it was not my favourite beauty item in the advent calendar (more reviews on these products to come!) but it certainly wasn't the worst either. Obviously it's a fairly low value item but at least it is affordable to buy.

Final word
I am not a big fan of body sprays so they are not particularly something I bother to buy myself but I do seem to end up with them anyway as they are part of gift sets at birthdays and Christmas. I like the bright yellow packaging and find the fragrance quite wearable without feeling old fashioned. It would be ideal as a handbag accessory as the bottle is quite small and portable and whilst I prefer wearing perfume I do find it a nice change to have a spritz of this instead.

Summary: An OK fragrance
