This is not a body lotion that I would recommend, it smells nice enough but I was really disappointed with the mositurising qualities, to be honest it felt rather greasy on my skin and even after it was absorbed into the skin it did not feel at all like it should, and for me the hydrating qualities are just not good enough. It certainly does not justify the £15ish price tag that it comes with.
I do like the packaging especially the pink pump action dispenser that is rather cute and the bottle itself is also pink with a gold band at the top. The YSL lettering is also is gold and the two colours combine well.
The fragrance of this lotion is the other positive, it has a nice spicy edge to it with some floral overtones that combine together really well , there is certainly quite a lot of fragrance in this lotion and it could clash with any perfume you might use unless you used the fragrance from YSL that is also part of the range. The problem for me with this product is that it just does not feel very nice on my skin, maybe it is just not suitable for my skin type however I have never considered my skin type to be anything unusual at all.
Overall it has a nice smell however I can get that from a fragrance, what I want from a body lotion is some mositurising qualities and that my skin feels refreshed and smooth after use and with this product I do not get the hydration I would expect and it is a bit greasy when I apply it. Not one I would recommend and I will not be buying it again.
YSL is a premium beauty brand offering fragrance, makeup and skincare products.
Elle is one of the ladies fragrances on offer from YSL. Elle is described as a passionate and luminous fragrance due to its combination of woody and floral notes. It is available in an EDT, EDP, shower gel, body mist and a body lotion. This review discusses my use of the YSL Elle Energising Body Lotion.
This body lotion can be worn alone or alongside the perfume for a layered, long lasting scent. It is described as being a "milky veil" which will melt into the skin allowing it to be moisturised. It contains amethyst and silicon aswell as trace elements which help the skin maintain firmness whilst smelling delicious.
Not unlike the perfume bottle, the body lotion comes housed within a tall, rectangular shaped bottle. It is completed by a pink pump dispenser on top of a gold band and gold writing complimenting the pink lotion seen through the bottle.
The scent of the body lotion is identical to the perfume and develops in stages.
*Top notes - lemon, peony petals and litchi
*Heart notes - rose, freesia, pinkberries and Jasmine sambac
*Base notes - cedar, patchouli and vetiver

200ml available alone or there are smaller tubes available in giftsets alongside the perfume. On Amazon you can purchase the 200ml for £14.95.
I love trying out perfumed body lotions as a treat and a change to my usual body butters. The more expensive the better and my sister knows this! Last Christmas, my sister made up a gorgeous collection of lotions and other treats and presented it to me from my son. Within the box, a gorgeous bottle of YSL Elle Body Lotion was present. I don't own the perfume so my experience is based on using the body lotion alone.
The packaging design is stunning and I adore it. It is classy, sophisticated and oozes expensiveness! The pump dispenser makes application so much easier than a tube would. A short pump allows a small but sufficient blob of this gorgeous, baby pink tinted lotion. The lotion has a milky, liquidy consistency but doesn't immediately make a run for it off my skin. I particularly like applying scented body lotions to my arms, shoulder and neck area where I can fully appreciate the scent.
The lotion feels amazing on my skin and due to the milky consistency, a little goes along way as I can easily spread it across my arms and shoulders. It feels soothing and refreshing on my dry skin. The lotion does melt into my skin as it claims too but once fully melted in, my skin doesn't feel all that moisturised for long. It leaves a non greasy and ever so slightly powdery texture on the surface of my skin. For the price, I would have appreciated more hydration.
What it lacks in hydration, the lotion makes up for in scent. The gorgeous aroma hits you as soon as the lotion is dispensed and initially, comes across as being overpoweringly spicy and heady. The spiciness remains throughout the lotions time of my skin changing to blend in with the other notes and offer a multidimensional scent which captures my senses perfectly.
Mixed in with the spicy opening, is a fresh and almost citrussy undertone which is offered by the lemon. It is an addictive aroma which is distinctly warm thanks to the spiciness. Within 30mins or so, the scent softens and becomes more feminine with the spice taking a back seat and allowing a bunch of sweet floral notes to come through. This blend remains prominent on my skin with a spicy edge for a good few hours.
Later in the day, the scent starts to become subtler and less noticeable unless I get my nose up close to my skin. Here the lotion would benefit from a top up of the perfume to increase its staying power and overall strength. The scent changes again offering a creamy, earthy base remaining feminine but on a deeper level and still a hint of spice about it.
*~*Conclusion and Recommendation*~*
YSL have captured a gorgeous and slightly unusual feminine scent and packed it into one lotion. I like wearing this on special occasions as it is different and I don't feel the need to wear another perfume due to the concentration of the scent. It does remind me a little of Thierry Mugler Womanity with a sort of sweet and salty combination and it works really well.
If bought on Amazon, it is certainly more affordable that some designer branded body lotions and only a small amount is needed per application. No matter how much I applied though, I couldn't get the moisturisation I desired so feel the need to apply an unscented lotion underneath and simply use this one for the scent. The bottle makes a pretty addition to my dresser and would make a stunning gift.
Recommended for scent but not for hydration.
Thanks for reading :)
One of my favorite perfumes ( I Have two lol!!) is Yves Saint Laurent Elle and I find a great way to make any scent you wear last all day is to use layering with body wash , and body lotion.
Luckily for me, YSL Elle not only comes in a perfume, but also in a body lotion and shower gel. The body lotion is what I am going to review here.
The shower gel from YSL Elle, comes in a clear bottle, which when full looks pink, but you will soon see this is actually the lotion inside the bottle. The dispenser for the bottle is a little pump, so you can easily control how much you get each time.
The body lotion itself is a thick, rich body lotion and it really does have a wonderful scent, just like the perfume. This is obviously a good thing that you would expect, seeing as it is meant to be the body lotion of the perfume!! Luckily the scent is not hugely strong with the lotion, and the lotion spreads easily and a tiny blob goes really far. It sinks into the skin nicely, and it leaves my skin feeling soft and moisturised. The body lotion is described as being Energising, but personally I feel just like normal when I use it.
I have sensitive skin and I was worried that this lotion would make my skin react, but luckily I have had no problems with it, and my skin does feel good. It also adds a little bit of a shimmer to my skin, which is a nice touch I feel. I find that the scent actually lasts all day, whether I am using the lotion on it's own or with the body wash and perfume. Obviously the scent is stronger and lasts a little longer with all 3 products being used, but the body lotion itself does still give good scent strength.
In terms of cost, this is by no means a cheap body lotion, and will usually cost you around £28 a bottle for 200ml. At first sound, this does sound very expensive, but it does present good value for money in the long term as a tiny blob does go a long way and a bottle usually lasts me around 3 - 4 months with regular use.
I do recommend this body lotion, especially if you use the YSL Elle perfume as it is a great way to make your scent last even longer. You can buy this body lotion in Boots, House Of Fraser, Amazon and John Lewis among many other places. I am giving this product a 5 out of 5, even though I am not too sure where the energising factor is.
This body lotion is to die for.
On a Friday night when I just want to go out clubbing or going to a nice restaurant with friends, this body lotion smells so good! It's one of those lotions which rubs on well, you do not have to keep vigorously rubbing at it just so it can settle on your skin! The smell is just incredible: it has this very feminine and unique smell. Actually, when wearing it a friend actually asked me "what perfume are you wearing?" I was delighted to say that I was not wearing anything except for this body lotion!!
Even though it is not the cheapest body lotions, I would definately recommend using this because it is easy to rub onto your skin ( in the past I've had many problems with body lotions not rubbing onto the skin well) it smells incredible and most of all you feel very sexy wearing it.
I hope this helps :)
I am someone who will purchase time and time again body lotions/gels and creams with the best intention in the world of using them which means I own loads of them lol. I tend to use them once or twice and shove them out of sight and forget all about them.
However sometimes (when finances allow of course!) I will nip to a perfume counter and treat myself to something others deem to be a waste of money!
In this heat and staying in a pub at the moment, with the weather hot and it boiling outside I have started to notice that perfume can be a little heavy on me and not last too long in the fragrance stakes so when I spotted this body lotion and took a sniff of it I decided that I loved the fragrance so much and that even though it cost £31.00 for a 200ml bottle it was worth it (in Boots).
Well I have only seen this in the size I purchased it in which is 200ml. It is a long oblong glass bottle which is filled with light pink coloured lotion and it has a matching, pump action button to the top of it and a little glass lid that fits securely over that. On the front of the bottle and in gold writing I am told that it is YSL (the letters are entwined) 'Elle' Yves Saint Laurent 'Energising' Body Lotion (and I'm told that in a Foreign Language too). Other information on the back of the bottle includes size being stated and contact details for the manufacturer being given. It's a nice sleek bottle and the pump action button releases small amounts of the lotion meaning it's all very straightforward to use as well as appearing sophisticated and is a nice product to display.
The Body Lotion:
To use this you simply pump a small amount of the light pink lotion out and apply it to clean and dry skin. The lotion is rather runny but has body to it and doesn't feel watery though of course it is a lotion and not thick like a cream.
On touch with the skin it melts giving you just enough time to massage it in to make it go a little further too so all round it's incredibly simple to use and a little does go rather a long way.
The smell of this is really rich and to me, after I have used it a few times is a little old fashioned and in my opinion a little stronger than the actual perfume. It is floral with rather a harsh top note and isn't what I'd describe as soft and/or summery really. It is grounded by a woody sort of smell and over the top of that there is a slightly sweet top note. After a while the fragrance of this does calm down somewhat leaving skin smelling woody more than anything else really.
This not only leaves the skin smelling of this fragrance for hours, it very gently hydrates the skin. You can simply apply it and forget you have cos it's a none greasy formula that puts residue no where at all and when you've had enough of it, it rinses off the skin with complete ease.
This is meant to be an energising body lotion...this I disagree with and can't see how it would/could be really. However if you like the scent of 'Elle', you should love this as it's longevity smell wise is simply superb and really does last ages. Not awful...but worth the money...? Yes if you like the fragrance and you only want a little moisturising to the skin!
Available in all good chemists, perfume shops and it is worth looking for this online to see if you can get it a bit cheaper!
