After purchasing the Opium body lotion and being really pleased with it I decided to really splash out and purchase this. I was in two minds about it and took a deep breath in as I handed over £35.00 in Boots! I knew though already that I loved the scent and had high hopes for this being really kind to my skin cos like I said I have been using the moisturiser and love it!
I've only see this available to purchase in the size I have which is 200ml. It is a cream coloured tub with screw on/off lid to the top of it and on the front in gold lettering I'm told it is Opium Rich Body Creme (Creme Riche Pour Le Corps) and it has a smaller chocolate brown base to it and on that size is stated and the tub is brown inside too. That's it for information but it does look a classy and simple tub. I still get surprised though at stuff as expensive as this not making any promises to us lol.
Well it's off white in colour and quite thick in consistency. Open the pot and your met with a musky aroma that is really heavy and distinctly Opium fragranced. Opium of course is a blend of Citrus, Pepper, Coriander, Plum, Clove, Jasmine, Mandarin, Iris Root, Rose, May Bells, Patchouli, Carnations, Cinnamon, Peach, Cedar, Benzoin, Vanilla, Incense, Labdanum, Vetiver, Tolu Balsam, Coconut, Myrrh, Amber, Musk, Opoponax and Sandalwood and like I say it's really very potent. The only slight difference with the creme to the perfume is that it has a slightly velvety, creamy smell to it but make no bones about it it is rich, Oriental and incredibly spicy.
To me the fragrance is mainly a sandalwood, musky and peppery smell with patchouli and jasmine.....whatever you think you can smell though it is heavy as I keep saying and smell wise once this is on your skin it will stay highly fragrant for hours upon hours.
Now the creme itself is really easy to apply. You can of course use it as an all over body moisturiser or you can apply it to wear you feel you need to or use it as a perfume (perfect for hot summer nights). You don't need much of it at all and you gently sweep it over the skin and your skin absorbs it very quickly indeed. It dries into the skin with almost immediate effect meaning you can dress quickly and it leaves no residue on the skin at all so apart from the fragrance you can forget it's there.
Although it dries to the touch it doesn't dry in the feeling it gives to the skin. This moisturises and hydrates from within and again for hours. As I stated earlier this makes no claims about it's capabilities but I will.....
This is a very rich moisturising creme that is fabulous on every level. Not only is it highly fragrant it works wonders on dry skin without upsetting the more sensitive areas and me, well it hasn't annoyed my skin at all which I did wonder if it would due to it being so rich and fragrant. It doesn't make my greasy areas spit up more grease and it really does make me feel fresh and clean and very smooth to the touch.
I even find that since using the Opium moisturising lotion (please see the review on here on that if interested) and this (I alternate) that in the long term my skin appears more vibrant and smooth and generally feels very healthy.
If you like other Opium products I'm sure you'll love this. If you like heavy fragrances, I'm sure you'll like this too! Though don't go buying this thinking it's something you can use in conjunction with your usual sprays and perfumes cos I don't advise that at all as it's to rich in fragrance!
Perfect luxury gift to yourself or maybe a gift this Christmas for a woman who owns everything else! Lovely!
